...I never said it WAS their fault:confused:

But if I don't blame an artist for the trends they began, that would mean I can't blame Mariah Carey for leading to a generation of watered down R&B or I can't blame the earliest lame pop acts of the nineties for leading to some incredibly ****ty modern pop.

:down

But to dislike a badn because other bands followed in their footsteps is absurd. By that logic we should hate the every band that came after the Beatles.

Er, no, I'm talking about bands that began incredibly bad trends in music history. You completely missed my point.

And rock and roll did not begin with the Beatles.

Green Day by far. Weezer comes next.
Instead of just mentioning bands you think sold out can you actually give solid reasons why think those bands sold out?

Album like Kerplunk -------> Time of your Life?

Case Closed.

But what is a "bad" trend? Define "bad'. Isn't bad a matter of opinion? What's bad to you is a good musical trend for someone else, therefore any artist should have a right to do whatever music they want, or to change their musical style.

it's hard for me to comment on newer musicians, because I don't like most new music, but I have to say that Metallica sold out pretty bad. they used to be so freaking awesome, but after the black album it started going downhill.

see what I mean?

Yeah but were those ballads added to TV Shows staring Jennifer Love Hewitt?

Er, duh. We may as well never have another thread on musical quality by this logic:confused:

I'm not saying Green Day sold out here. I'm saying that A) I've never liked anything they've done, and B) They lead to several bands who I despise.

:confused::up:

They drastically changed their image. Green Day started out like The Ramones. Their songs were fun and really didn't care whether or not they were second rate as far being musicans and songwriters as long as they were making music and having a good time.

Now, they've gone all serious and political and have trashed everything they were about.

As for Weezer, does it really need to be explicity stated. Just one listen to "Beverly Hills" explains all.

No I understand what you mean, but I just don't get why some people get so worked up about bands they don't like or bands that sell out. If you don't like them, don't listen to them. Me, I never liked Green Day either until American Idiot. I still don't care for their pervious stuff.

They still like that!!! Green day took a huge risk and going political because deep down inside this is how they felt!!! Why shouldnt they be allowed to express there feelings!!! Name one mainstream band that was political before Green Day??? NONE!!!
