I meant after 9/11 they took alot of the politcal songs off the radio. Green Day took a chance by going politcal.

because there were a lot of political songs on the radio before 9/11?

They were one of the first mainstreams bands after 9/11 that got political and still got radio play!. Sorry thats what I meant I should have been more specific.:O

can you name other mainstream bands that got political and dint get radio play?

while i give them credit for being the first band to have some sort of political edge post 9/11 (despite the fact that the album sucked and was way over rated), any band that was already mainstream could have achieved the same thing. i'd be giving the band a lot more credit if the album was even worth my time to illegally download it for free...but its not.

What I did like about the album was that in order to hear it, you didn't need to buy it. You just needed to turn on your radio, because just about every song got airplay, or at least it seemed that way. Not to mention my friends would play songs from it like crazy every day we had "CD Day" in music class.

Im just saying after that it was ok to be outspoken again!

Uh, thats more than most band's albums.

Radiohead sold out. They started with guitar rock, which no one who is mainstream likes, and then went all techno, which everyone loves. Sell-outs.

That's still quite a bit. Most albums usually release two or three songs tops meant for radio airplay.

Wrong! Most musicans release 4 singles its just most of them dont become hits. Green day have always released 4 singles in each of there major label album. A.I. was no different.

some albums have more success than others, so?

Of course. Radiohead are the biggest sell-outs since Robert Johnson.

The Fab Four are the biggest sell-outs in history. When they went from harmless, lightweight pop tunes like "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" to that whole Sgt. Pepper's bull****, they were never as good as they used to be.

All that computer noise on their albums, the difficult and controversial lyrics, the intricate, surrealistic album covers... it all spells sell-out to me.
