BILLY'S Art Work!!!

bud your getting way to diffensive.. your work right there is definately amazing, and i do think that is amazing, i definately think theres alot more craft in doing that to a photo or your own drawing then taking one from a comic or cartoon figure... (those dont count as much skill in my eyes) but what you show here is your own, and original... thats the skill i like in your work and like seeing... im just saying you should do more of it. Its much more interesting.

and for the record... unless you change a hell of alot in photoshop my rule stands the same with originality... hell have you seen some of these "fan made movie poster" on these boards? when nothing is changed much they look horrible, when alot is altered and done right they look amazing.

I understand what you're saying, but your wording is terrible.

Re-drawing an image, and drawing an original image both require skill...it's just a different type of skill. Whether you're drawing an original, or recreating an existing picture you're still using skill. It's a challenge to create an original picture from your imagination, but it's also a challenge to duplicate something that's already been done....and possibly recognized by countless people.

His "recreations" do require talent because he is using a program not everone knows. Knowing Illustrator, Photoshop...etc could be considered a "skill" for a job, it doesn't matter what you use it for.

Make sense to you?

im not starting anargument, im just saying im tired of people saying my stuff isnt original, before i started posting on this site the only illustrator stuff i saw was from SOB, thats it. when i first posted that batman begins poster know one knew how i did that, it was like i was an alien to everyone. it took me a long time and alot of practice to learn how to effectivly do illustrations with the computer using that software. and for someone to say i dont have skill or originality, it hurts me as an artist. to put time and effort and love into somethin then someone go, its not art, or its un original. and im not talking about critics that rate it fairly, but for someone to come out and say it sucks or un original and being country productive. well theres not place for that on this site.

im done with the whole thing. moving on

im working on my september contest piece......gonna take some time. but iwill be posting the two last avengers doring that time, probly this weekend.

o i understand that completely.. but drawing is a tallent.. learning a program is a skill... theres a difference. his drawings are amazing, i love them, but anyone who knows how to use a program can trace lines... (wich for those who dont know how illustrator works that what he did) Im just sayin i prefer more of his original stuff that actually shows his true talents inside and what he can really do

Same here. Using Illustrator takes quite a while, and I tend to be quite proud of my work. I've olny been doing it for about two months now but pretty much there's only you, SOB and me doing it on here, or thats how it appears.

i understand completely man, and im not trying to hurt ya or offened you, i just think you should concentrate more from the scratch point of view... you can draw hella good, i admire your drawings like crazy. And as a fellow artist i definately am envious. I just think you should utilize your gift of drawing more as well... why not draw the characters first (cuz your style is awsome) then take them into the programs... im just trying to be constructive is all..

Please do some more SPIDER-MAN! i'd really like to see one of you spidey sketches colored in illustrator, if you have that time. thanks!

thanks, and do you mean homestarrunner?

good god, i think you just gave me a good idea to start a new thread on to replace the dying ipod thread.

superheros done in the homestarrunner style

anybody think thats a good idea?
or you have no clue who that is huh.

www.homestarrunner.com

Whoops. Big typo there. Yeah, that's what I meant.

And that thread would rock! I love seeing superheroes drawn in other cartoon styles like south park or looney toons. Just funny to me.:)

im just curious if it would violate any copyright laws, granted we are doing copyrighted superheros, but thats a different thing yaknow.......well ipods were a copyrighted........bah. head hurts.

would anyone be interested in a thread like that?

u'd only get in touble if u advertised it.. or published it... (threads i dont think count as publishing... )

thats what i thought. just wanted to make sure. what that guy does is great, i dont want him gettin pissed at the site here and crap hittin the fan...so to speak

I think you're only in violation if you use a copyrighted character to promote or make money for yourself.

good coloring, interesting style.
