Bioshock Infinite

No you missed the point. Bioshock wasnt a sequel to System Shock 2. It was a spiritual successor much like Infinite is to Bioshock 1. I think you should look up the definitions of "sequel" and "spiritual succesor"
Yes, Bioshock 2 is a sequel. Hell, it's even in the name: Bioshock TWO. Yes, one might might say its the "direct to dvd" sequel (I really enjoyed it), but it's a sequel nonetheless.

How anyone could say its not, well, I dunno what they're smoking, but I don't want any of it.

You're arguing about different things.

Yes, BioShock 2 is obviously the sequel to Bioshock, in any literal sense.

However, it was developed by a completely different team, only because of the original's success, and lacked most of the grand ideas, depth and meta concepts that made the first one such a milestone in video game story telling. IE, it's fair to say Infinite is the "real" "sequel", with the same team and an ambiguous storyline.

I've never quite got the hatred for Bioshock 2. I know that it wasn't made by Levine and isn't as groundbreaking as the first but I thought it actually played better than the first and I enjoyed the story for what it was. The exploration of a religious pseudo-communist villain was an interesting counterpoint to Andrew Ryan.

I don't think many people hate it, I certainly don't, and i enjoyed it, but it has some serious shortcoming when it comes to the writing, compared to the original.

Irrational Games announced a Season Pass for BioShock Infinite this morning, granting buyers access to three "all-new" upcoming DLC packs. We've spoken to the boys and girls in our labs, and they tell us that means there are at least three pieces of BioShock Infinite DLC on the way.

The pass is priced $19.99 on PS3 and PC, or 1600 MSP on Xbox 360, and Irrational says it provides $10 worth of savings. So the three DLC packs come in at an average of $10 each, or 800 MSP.

A Season Pass purchase also pecks picks you up the Early Bird Special Pack, this giving you a machine gun damage upgrade, pistol damage upgrade, gold skin for both weapons, five Infusion bottles, and four pieces of gear, all for free. Continue Reading

One of the best ways to flex the graphical muscle of our machines is seeing how close we can bring virtual visuals to the real thing. It’s not the absolute definition of fidelity, though, and some games—the BioShock family, for instance—dip into a heavily stylized look for a more fantastical approach to beauty. Speaking to CVG in an interview, Irrational Design Director Bill Gardner states clinging to realism isn’t one of the studio’s aims and shares his thoughts on the “misconception” of gamers solely desiring photo-like graphics.

There is a more timeless quality to visuals that are not striving (and coming up short) to perfectly emulate reality. A strong art direction goes a long way.

3 more weeks.

Video games don't need to look exactly like real life. We play these things so we don't have to deal with real life. :o

I'll wait and see on the DLC's. If they are gear and guns or a challenge room I'll sit them out but if they are story content I will definitely be on board.

I have been playing the Industrial Revolution Minigame, and am stuck on the thirteenth stage (I have 12 points in faction standing.) I keep ending up a peg short of the cog, and it is exceptionally irritating.

The saga of BioShock Infinite’s development is almost as nuanced as the history of the floating city of Columbia itself, and that facet certainly extends to the impending FPS’ cast of characters. Booker DeWitt’s constant companion is Elizabeth, a wide-eyed Columbian with her own story to tell and mysteries to unravel, but she almost never existed at all. Speaking to Polygon, Creative Director Ken Levine goes over the challenges Irrational faced when working with Elizabeth’s increasingly complex character, revealing the team requested more than once to eliminate her entirely.

Wow.
I remember from one of the preceding links on this page that the character was originally written as mute, but they fought to give her a voice. But, this...is interesting...

She's like a bizarro Disney cartoon character. Her hair is long and looks like Belle's in some of the trailers before obviously getting cut at some point.

Levine patting himself on the back. He's admitted to being tough to work under.

Well, if no studio would do it how he wanted, that's his call to make.

A movie wouldn't be necessary anyway. One of the most cinematic games ever made really wouldn't benefit from becoming a film.

what ever every time Holly wood wants to make some thing of another franchise from another medium they always want to change it from what it's supposed to be. It's better in the originators control. When ken is able to buy create a movie studio of his own then we'll see a real Bioshock movie with a director that actually appreciates the source and isn't just out for a name for them selves.
