Bioshock Infinite

Played about 4 hours so far. I can't find the right words at the moment to describe how incredible this game is.

Find them, dammit! I've gotta wait till I get home from work to play. :cmad::woot:

Elizabeth may be the first actual NPC that has literal A.I. It's like she learns **** along the way.

That's great to hear. And she doesn't get in the way?

Work project taking up time....I have to wait till next week.... :(

Elizabeth doesn't really "learn" stuff IMO so much as Booker "suggests" things for her to do......like, "keep an eye out for ammo or a weapon ect". I got stuck behind her once so far but in fairness it was in a narrow hallway that was a hidden area.

I bought this direct from the PS store. The upside was no tax but the downside is no trade in value. That's ok, this is a game I'll want to keep around to play for a long time. I just wish I could have downloaded it at midnight instead of 3-4am this morning.

The game has been terrific thus far. I didn't realize the plot was going to
be heavy with the slavery/politics overtones. From what I've gathered of the plot so far, Comstock appears to be pissed about the abolishing of slavery so he created Columbia and seceded from the Union to the sky.

So, I'm pretty psyched. My copy just got here...but I've got to wrap things up at work, and then later go to class, before I can take a crack at it.

Any idea which is a good difficulty to start at? Is Normal really 'normal', or is it like most games where Norma is actually 'easy', and Hard is 'normal'?

1999 mode sounds like an 'insanity' difficulty type thing to me. I definitely won't try that until atleast one playthrough.

Just got mine!

So apparently
1999 mode can be obtained via the Konami Code.

This game is tremendous. The moment the violence starts is going to be cemented in my brain forever.

Columbia is so beautiful, yet there's always this underlying feeling that something isn't right. The combat is insanely tight too. I was low on health, a couple enemies left. I thought I was going to die as they start flanking me when I hear, "Booker!" I tap X to turn around as Elizabeth tosses me a health pack. I swing right back around and jump out of cover, guns and tonics blazing, with a huge grin on my face. After this, regular escort quests aren't gonna cut it.

Incredible. Incredible incredible incredible.

Bioshock Infinite is why I play games.

I'm playing on Hard and it feels just right. You take a lot of damage and food doesn't heal you that much. It's refreshing after how easy Far Cry 3 was.

....What exactly IS the 1999 mode?

From what I've read, it's a harder mode where enemies are tougher, you're weaker, resources are more scarce and you have to specialize in a certain play style. Like if you upgrade a shotgun you're dedicating yourself to an up-close style of play for the rest of the game because there aren't enough resources to be a jack of all trades. It sounds pretty cool to me!

From the moment you go through the clouds and enter Columbia this game is just astounding. The visuals and art design are some of the best gaming as ever seen. Its such a strange land to walk around in. The people are weird and hilarious, and everything is just so surreal. The gameplay is phenomenal, its not as tight and as perfect as say a Cod or Halo but then again shooting isn't this game's main priority. The guns all feel and look great, at first I didn't like the idea of only being able to carry two guns but I warmed up to pretty quickly when I realized I'll probably never use the pistol again so why should I have to carry it. The vigors are amazing, I love the Murder of Crows and Bucking Broncos. I found the skyhook very hard to understand in the beginning. You travel very fast and it can be confusing but it just takes a little time and you'll be flying on those things one from one to another and then on top of guy to kill him. Elizabeth is up there with the Gears of War partners as the best partners out there. You never ever have to worry about her, she is always looking around for health, salts, and ammo to help you out in battle and she's a really interesting character though I'm not too far in the story so I can't really comment on that just yet.

I'm playing on normal and while I haven't died, my shields and health bar are usually quite low. So it's not the easiest game in the world

This is one of the best FPS (slightly RPG) since BioShock. Definitely awesome. A game where the world comes to life, and puts you right in there. I loved the wink to Close Encounters at the beginning of the game.

Cool.

The reviews for this game are amazing and such a relief. After 3+ years and two delays I was worried it might be average. To see it blowing people away makes me really happy.

Here you go Marv.

Has any review actually been negative? I already hear the infamous "it's overrated" remarks having been out not even a full 24 hours.

Absolutely stunningly beautiful game so far. I haven't even got to Elizabeth yet....feels kinda like the long lead-in to finally meeting Connor in AC3. No complaints about that at all, though.

For those who are already playing like me, curious about the
raffle scene with the baseball: I'm assuming most of us, like me, are angry enough to throw the ball at Fink, and watching all hell break loose; but did anybody "cast the first stone" at the mixed-race couple? Does it still incite violence, or does the game remain "peaceful" for awhile since everybody assumes you're a bigot like they are?

No I haven't seen any bad reviews. I do have a few complaints. Many times throughout the story you'll walk into a room hold x on some object, walk out of the room and there'll be people right outside who weren't there before and theres no way they could get there in the 2 seconds I was in the room. It happens quite a bit and its really jarring to me. Also the x button is used for way too many different things. It's screwed me over plenty of times in a firefight. I'm about 3/4s way through the game and definitely the midway point you could tell they werent really sure what to do with the story or where to go with it but thankfuully its not like Bioshock 1 where once they reveal the twist, I thought the game just downspiraled and never recovered, this game we are back on track.
