Bioshock Infinite

Here you go Marv.

Much appreciated:)

I'm working my way through this game.

Its sooo good, so absolutely amazing.

Absolutely stunningly beautiful game so far. I haven't even got to Elizabeth yet....feels kinda like the long lead-in to finally meeting Connor in AC3. No complaints about that at all, though.

For those who are already playing like me, curious about the
raffle scene with the baseball: I'm assuming most of us, like me, are angry enough to throw the ball at Fink, and watching all hell break loose; but did anybody "cast the first stone" at the mixed-race couple? Does it still incite violence, or does the game remain "peaceful" for awhile since everybody assumes you're a bigot like they are?

I was wondering the same thing.

I have a question simliar to that. When you're in the depot and you can either pull your gun or ask tickets, what happens when you pull your gun? Because asking for the tickets was not what I was expecting

Man,I really hope they release a PC demo soon... i'm trying to decide between that and the PS3 version. I'd prefer the PC version, but need to run it first and see if I can get it to play on high. The "specs" they release don't tell me anything because you can always tweak graphic seetings :/

Any bioshock virgins picked this up or thinking of it? I've never played the first 2 games but this one looks pretty good. Do you sort of have to be a bioshock fan to get into this one you think?

No not at all since it completely introduces you to the world, the mechanics. There may a little wink wink nudge nudge to the previous ones for the fans but nothing that'll confuse you. It's also a really solid fps with lots of shooting so even if you're looking for one of those

If you do have a PS3 get it on that. Because BioShock Infinite comes with the full version of the original BioShock. So you could play that first.

Really? I do have a ps3. Was the orginal bioshock a next-gen game? because that's pretty surprising they'd include as a 2 for one.

Yes it was this current gen. 2007. Still holds up. Now it's like 20 bucks digitally, but ya, it's still a great deal. 2 games for 1.

Go with the PS3 version of Infinite so you can get Bioshock 1 with it. Its a great first person shooter with a killer local and atmosphere. And the art deco style is ! Still one of my favorite games.

There's some references to Bioshock 1 and 2 (which take place 47 years after Infinite), but you don't have to know those games at all to play this. Entirely different settings. You might have a leg up on the gameplay, as it's pretty similar; but otherwise, Infinite is its own universe. Bioshock is an underwater dystopia where 1950s science and the worship of it has run amok; Infinite is a sky-borne utopia where pre-WWI Americana and evangelism and all its ugly elitism and prejudice has run amok.

Bioshock is dark and grim B-movie sci-fi horror, while Infinite is a work of high art and great literature -- the kind of story you study in college-level English and art history classes. May not turn out to be everyone's cup of tea, but this is the kind of story that would make George Orwell, Aldous Huxley, and Ayn Rand proud.

I'm not far in, I just only got the fireball power. And there's some stuff that seems to recall BioShock 1...but only in setup, and not actually being referenced. There's a similar fashion to how we enter this chamber and we see from inside how this new and strange place is unveiled.

So there's something cool about that. About first experiencing entering Rapture, and then entering Columbia in a similar way that just recalled that same experience. And it still felt exciting. Which is saying something, for me. And the achievement was the same as in BioShock 1, where instead of the achievement saying "Welcome to Rapture", it says "Welcome to Columbia".

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the setup from Irrational is that BioShock Infinite is more like a spiritual sequel, and not a literal one, to the first one. So, I think you could play this without missing a beat.

I just hope that doesn't mean you'll miss out on the first one. Rapture is really, really special. I think you should play that one, regardless of it being referenced or not.

I highly recommend you play the first game before hopping into this one even though it isn't necessary. If you buy a PS3 copy of Infinite I believe it comes bundled with the first game on the disc. :]

Just finished. Amazing game.

Ending thoughts, some spoilers:
So many twists, and set up all along the way in very subtle fashion. Very impressive, and tied together even better than the "Would You Kindly" from the first game--the brand, the missing finger, even the "Let the Circle Be Unbroken". Loved the little "cameo" Rapture had. :hehe: All the different Elizabeths at the end (including the original design before they changed her hair) was a nice touch, as well. I do kind of wish that Songbird had been more of a final boss, but this works too, I suppose. I wonder if anything's different if you choose the "cage" pendant rather than the "bird" one (since cage actually has a relevant meaning). Probably just FemLucete being all enigmatic and smug or somesuch.

Incredible game, easily as good if not better than the first one.

I'd say its way better than the first one. The shooting in the first one was eh at best and the story fell apart once the twist was revealed. This game does a full 180 from that. Shooting is great and story picks up and stays good after an eh middle section

^Yeah, the Vox Populi/Fink bit dragged, but definitely improved afterwards.

yeah it was just like a hour-hour and a half where I was thinking man they really don't know what or where they want to go with this story but thankfully it picked up rather quickly.

For people who've beaten it, how long did it take you? Did you take your time exploring the world, or just fly through it?

Somewhere in the 13-15 range. I explored the world but not hardcore

I'm currently dealing with [blackout] Elizabeth's freaky ghost mother [/blackout]

My guess for the big revelation:

Booker doesn't exist. Elizabeth unknowingly made him to come rescue her. The twins are alternate reality versions of each other.

I played Bioshock 1, but only the first hour or so, so I didn't get far. I bought Bioshock 2 a few days ago but haven't started it. I have been playing the hell out of Infinite though. I'm currently looking for the Shock Jockey. I probably could be further, but I feel the need to explore everything.

I have heard that the best part is at the end where it's shown that Booker and Elizabeth are one in the same I believe. but not sure if anyone can confirm this plot spoiler
