Birds of Prey Birds of Prey General Discussion and Speculation

That isnt possible. The DCEU is dead...I know I read it in the Joker Movie thread :oldrazz::wow::funny:

What was planned is dead. Maybe not as permament dead as a person dying but dead.

That being said, the DCU as a broad based concept is always there waiting to be approached in some form with certain levels of carryover.

I'd rather they focus on getting each film right first and foremost. I'm not sure what James Gunn meant when he answered the question saying just like the comics as shortly afterwards he's backtracked a bit over that response:

James Gunn Clears Up Suicide and The Batman Connection
JAMES GUNN CLEARS UP SUICIDE AND THE BATMAN CONNECTION
Recent comments made by James Gunn made it sounds as if his The Suicide Squad existed within the same universe as Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson's The Batman, but now the director backtracks on those remarks.

How it all started is when a fan asked if The Suicide Squad connects to Robert Pattinson's Batman because the fan feels confused about what is going on with the DCEU as some films are not connected and some are, which saw James Gunn respond on social media, "Yes just like the comic books."

So fans thought James Gunn was confirming that his version of Suicide Squad existed in the same cinematic universe as The Batman.

However, James Gunn took to his Instagram story to shoot back at claims that he did confirm Suicide Squad and The Batman are connected, as he posted, "I did!? When?"

Gunn also replied in a comment on Instagram, "I didn’t alter any comment, and I didn’t mean to make your page look bad. I just answered the first question too quickly without fully reading it."

James Gunn The Suicide Squad may connect to The Batman
I suppose it should also be said that James Gunn didn't necessarily shoot down the notion that his film connects to the Matt Reeves movie, as what is rather interesting, is that James Gunn has teased his flick is not a reboot or a sequel.

Rumors offer that James Gunn's The Suicide Squad and Matt Reeves' The Batman exist in their own universe, separate from the DCEU.

While at Comic-Con, DC insiders also told me that Gunn, Reeves and J.J. Abrams are involved with some sort of soft reboot of the DCEU, as Abrams will be doing Superman with a new actor.

So if The Suicide Squad and The Batman exist within a different universe we see why the same characters can be used, like Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, which is because they are different versions of the character (fans know this to be the multiverse, which the upcoming The CW Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover is tackling)

If tonalities are melded on these 2 projects it seems to be kind of last minute production wise and James Gunn isn't wanting to confirm anything.

harley escaped belle reve with joker, so she supposed to be on the run, with amanda waller chasing her ,i really wonder how they gonna explain this in that movie or they gonna totally skip that.
i know she 's back on that suicide squad movie with Gunn, but i doubt she's apart off the team, all this seem fishy

Unless in BOP she gets caught again at the end

The Hyena being called "Bruce Wayne" seems a little odd to me. Is there a precedent for that in the comics?

I just can't help but wonder if this movie is a success, then you have Margot's Harley in The Suicide Squad (and if that becomes a success), how are they gonna explain the disconnect? We just think of these two projects being in two different continuities?

What would be the disconnect, exactly?

I mean the fact that we haven't really heard if this movie connects with Gunn's Suicide Squad and vice versa. Since Gunn is ignoring the first SS movie and I take it BOP looks like it's connected to the Ayer movie.

I don't get the impression that he's ignoring Ayer's SS, since he's bringing back a lot of the cast of the previous film.

This movie looks ****ing s****y. Really bad trailer.

Margot’s performance based on the trailer is not really working for me, and after thinking about it, she didn’t really wow me in Suicide Squad either.

The costumes are horrible and the plot (based on what I have gathered from leaks) sounds pretty lame.

I have extremely low expectations, but I would be very happy to be proven wrong. I’m going to try to keep an open mind, but from what I’ve seen, I’m not feeling any of this.

The the real leak was posted a couple days ago on Reddit and it sounds way better than any of the past rumors. Also for people wanting to know if the BOP wear costumes in the movie....

They do but it's not until the very end when Dinah, Helena & Renee officially form the BOP and fight a random gang. Dinah wears a blue/black suit and Helena wears a dark purple mask & trench coat

Does Black Mask actually where a mask...

He does wear a type of black mask throughout the movie but it's not the skull one. He does get the mask burned on his face at the end though. Which pretty much sets up his skull mask

Does Dinah have her cry?

Yes although she doesn't find out until later in the movie

And lastly does Harley actually join the BOP?

Obviously no, she basically tells them to **** off at the end then leaves with Cass & Bruce (Hyena)

I think...

BM does wear his comic book accurate Skull mask at some point in the movie.

Margot Robbie Was ‘Pretty Rattled’ After Reading the ‘Bombshell’ Script for the First Time

"The story in ‘Birds of Prey’ is told from her point of view, so you have an insight into Harley’s world in a way that you didn’t in the first ‘Suicide Squad’ film, nor that you’ll have in the next ‘Suicide Squad’ film,” Robbie says.

“It’s a little bonkers. It reflects her personality. It’s heightened. It’s poppy, it’s fun, it’s violent, it’s crazy. It’s absurd. It’s kooky. It’s hilarious. It’s a little heartbreaking.”

I really like those, can't wait for the new trailer hope it gets released online
