Black Friday thread: Shop Like a Beast!

I think they're becoming as defunct as the VHS these days. Hell, those dudes in the hood that used to sell bootlegs are now selling digital downloads via passwords and ****, lol.

Most of those $5 around me are DVDs

I think the only store that had $5 bins for Blu Rays are Best Buys

Probably going to head downtown Chicago to a few stores, but protesters are all up Michigan Ave.

I'm heading to the Outlets around 8-9 pm tonight. I figured less people will be there.

I just brought a new laptop and got hit in the chest with a stone someone threw in the parking lot. THE MADNESS IS REAL!

You should've played the scary black man role and walked up on them.

I got the HP Pavilion i7 2TB with a 27 inch LED monitor for $500.

All I wanted was a basic cell and an HD digital antenna. Saving the real shopping for Christmas holiday.

I wasn't going to do this but ended up buying a TV on Best Buy online.

I went to my first Black Friday sale today. Yes, we have them in Canada, even though Thanksgiving was in October. All that means is prices are lower, and there are six people ahead of me in line at Best Buy instead of zero. I didn't get much though, just two blu rays (Deadpool and X-Men:A) and a light-up blu tooth speaker.

My shopping started Wednesday with some of the early discounts from Newegg. Got a backup 3tb(!) hard drive with an external case for a decent price. The moderately new 2tb I have keeps clicking. Always a good sign there. :o

Then on Friday itself I got a new 32" 720p TV for the bedroom from Best Buy. I've had an old CRT 32" for over 15 years now and it was time to upgrade.

Also got what has been dubbed "the cat apartment tower" for the 3 cats we have living here from PetSmart. It is about 5.5' tall and has multiple bed levels for them to lay on, covered in carpet and with rope scratching pads. along the posts.

And I just ordered another SSD from Newegg today to replace a 10 year old main drive on another computer. Only 250gb but those things are so fast and the only thing going on it are the OS and a few frequently used programs.

Debating what to get off Amazon now.

DVD's exist you know :cmad:

Physical media is so old school. All about the 4K streaming these days though I wish more was available.

Here was my Black Friday 2016 Haul (most online):
1. Dyson Vacuum - $299 plus $90 Kohl Cash (reg price $499)
2. Brooklinen pillows - 15% off + free candle
3. Set of 15 tools of the trade knives from macys - $19.99
4. Lithium ION beard trimmer - $30 at macys (reg price $60)
5. Vegetti Pro - $9.99 at Walmart
6. Sheets for $25 at Walmart
7. Misc. Toys for gifts - 20% off disney store, buy 1 get 1 50% off rogue one toys at target, troll doll for $9.99 at macys

I missed out on the freebies at CVS. Place was wiped put.

You say that now but when you lose internet access for whatever reason... you got nothing.

Even if my internet didn't suck - which it does - I am not crazy about this streaming bandwagon. You own nothing and are **** out of luck if Netflix loses the rights to the shows or movies you like. Also 4K Blu-rays are prohibitively expensive. I really don't think it justifies the cost. Maybe for a few movies I really love, but for most it's simply not worth it. Regular Blu-rays are now actually affordable and 1080p is already fairly impressive.

I agree on 4k. Unless you are watching under ideal circumstances the difference is minimal to 1080p. Oh and another knock against streaming: Bandwidth and/or data usage caps.

It's true. Everything in my place is connected to the internet, including my lights, thermostat, tv, sound system, lock, smoke detector, blinds, etc.

I'm so lazy I don't even use my phone anymore. I just make Alexa do it all haha.

You know that my post was in response to a sarcastic comment from earlier right.

IN any event...

Yeah I'm fine with Blu Ray quality.

At a certain point it gets kinda silly. Blu Ray is already perfectly clear to me. And I'm pretty sure if you do the "Pepsi challenge" on 4k Blu Ray and regular Blu Ray, most people including myself wont be able to tell the difference

Even 4k TVs I hear are a waste to buy unless you sit right infront of the screen and that's even if you buy the high end ones.
