I LOKE that term - 'Instant Opinions'.
Here's an example of this: There's a third game coming for the Darksiders series. Small backstory - it's a franchise whose future was uncertain because the original publisher went kaput a few years ago. Now the sequel is back on track with a new company and developers that is made up with most of the staff that worked on the first two.
Anyway, the game features 'Heavy Metal' versions of the Four Horsemen. The last game featured Death, the first had 'War', so it's now 'Famine's turn as the lead, rebranded as the female character 'Fury' (for marketing reasons).
Stupid commenters on youtube (who claimed to be fans of the games) got pissed off about her name change...for no reason! But here's the thing: her freaking name was Fury from the get-go since game one! Either it's a collective mismemory or a culture already armed to hate.
But as nerds, your greatest weapon shoudl be 'knowledge' and 'knowing stupid stuff'. And now knowledge is being ignored, being replaced by a faux-bravado.
It's people are so confident but don't know what the heck they're talking about that is driving me up the wall.
