Saw this on NeoGAf. Thoughts?
I can kind of see what the poster is saying, but I like that it matches up. I guess it could be a bit more advanced do to the time that has passed, but that it looks and feels like Blade Runner makes me very happy and works for me completely.

The one which has Ford not narrating from the toilet.
When I was little, I use to think Joe Pesci's narrating in Casino was the worst. Then I saw that version of Blade Runner for the first time.

I don't know about all that. This is a trailer but... Looks like it has a lot of texture to me.

Just watched the trailer. I wasn't sure what to think when it was announced. But goddamn I am so hyped for this.

He said the gifts were a gag to pit the "Skwad" against the Joker. Cast mates said that it indeed worked as they really bonded together after that on set.

If the movie turns out to be crap to people its not because of that. In anything it was just a waste of time since they seemed to cut out the other confrontation vs. the Joker.
Yes, but my point is that is rather irrelevant. He is talking about sending gross stuff to his cast members, while playing the Joker. Then people didn't like his performance. So of course it all got paired together, as it is actually a really good example of how "off" his Joker is. Like he missed the point.

So until he redeems that in enough people's eyes, people crapping on him is going to continue. Not that it should matter to him. Man is getting paid and working with some of the best directors in the world.

I could give a crap what anyone says, even Scott and Ford... Ain't nothing wrong with the theatrical version with the narration. It evokes the noir genre which is an obvious influence that Scott was going for. Does Ford sound disinterested? Maybe. But again, it fit the hard boiled gumshoe thing.

Back when this image came out in late december I kinda thought it looked too good to not be part of the set. Turns out I was right, it's some kind of infinity pool lounge where Letos character contemplates things. This place looks so much more peaceful and reserved compared to the chaos of the city streets. The change in color and warmth is a great contrast. I hope they don't go and CGI the hell out of these scenes, cause that totally removes the point of a practical set in the first place.

I think there will be enough practicality in this. You don't hire someone like Deakins then thrown everyone into big green rooms.

Obviously there will be CGI and green screens. Sometimes that's the only way. Like for shots of the futuristic city scapes etc.

But I trust Villeneuve's artistic integrity implicitly. Hes not a lazy film maker.

I'm not so much talking about green screens as I am post production CGI effects tacked onto practical environments. The street below was a practical set, yet the backdrop and lighting is totally CGI. The front entrance to the vintage casino has changed dramatically. Not necessarily for the worse, but its a big change.

Thats just five months difference worth of CGI post production, now how different are the scenes we got today...going to be on october 6th? I'm not sure how much say Denis has on this post production fx work, considering he doesn't even have final cut.

"There's some snow being kicked up in the announcement trailer that's not there in the new trailer... This film is being drained of texture."

I can't handle the modern fan perspective sometimes.

I read that as well. I was curious how others might feel about that comment. How annoyed are you right now?

I'm annoyed that I am annoyed. That's not a joke. Because I do ask myself a lot when it comes to this relatively new world of instant opinions on everything why it should matter to me? I mean... Really? I do think it's nitpicky to the the extreme, and the volume of the comments I find obtuse or strange or puzzling or off putting that I encounter via the Internet has a cumulative effect in a way... But why? I do think that kind of perspective shown in those comments about freaking snow is... I mean really? That person, or anyone was on first view going to notice that? At the same time I think, "Am I any different in getting annoyed that someone out there felt the need to put out such an asinine observation under the cloak of being a film cognoscenti?"

That your are questioning yourself already puts you ahead of the game Krpyton.

As long as the end result is good thats all that should matter really.

And anyway, isn't it supposed to be like acid snow? Like the earth atmosphere is completely ****ed now.

This is why I suspect that the Off World Colonies is going to play some big part in the plot somehow.

I agree. Despite them bragging about filming in fully-built sets, the film looks empty and digital. Just take a look at all interiors. Exteriors aren't better either. The original film felt far more rich.

I want a "Acid Rain" version of "Chocolate Rain" now. :csad:

I LOKE that term - 'Instant Opinions'.

Here's an example of this: There's a third game coming for the Darksiders series. Small backstory - it's a franchise whose future was uncertain because the original publisher went kaput a few years ago. Now the sequel is back on track with a new company and developers that is made up with most of the staff that worked on the first two.

Anyway, the game features 'Heavy Metal' versions of the Four Horsemen. The last game featured Death, the first had 'War', so it's now 'Famine's turn as the lead, rebranded as the female character 'Fury' (for marketing reasons).

Stupid commenters on youtube (who claimed to be fans of the games) got pissed off about her name change...for no reason! But here's the thing: her freaking name was Fury from the get-go since game one! Either it's a collective mismemory or a culture already armed to hate.

But as nerds, your greatest weapon shoudl be 'knowledge' and 'knowing stupid stuff'. And now knowledge is being ignored, being replaced by a faux-bravado.

It's people are so confident but don't know what the heck they're talking about that is driving me up the wall.

As Terry Goodkind wrote in his Sword of Truth series, "People are stupid."

I am embarrassed how many times I have fallen victim to "Instant Opinions". :O

Yeah...It's letting the fingers do the talking, and shooting in the dark. And HOPEFULLY with enough gusto, you'll be 60 percent right or at least will be heard. Ie being an A-Hole.
