BIB- This is what a reviewer I trust in the UK has been saying. You don't have to have seen the original to understand this one but it will help you.
It's been a while. In an interview with Al Arabiya, the filmmaker is diplomatic, praising Jóhannssons talent he has worked with him on Prisoners, Sicario and Arrival but essentially saying that ultimately he wasnt the right fit for Blade Runner 2049.
The thing I will say is that making movies is a laboratory. Its an artistic process. You cannot plan things. Jóhann Jóhannsson is one of my favorite composers alive today. Hes a very strong artist, Villeneuve said. But the movie needed something different, and I needed to go back to something closer to Vangelis.
Johan and I decided that I will need to go in another directionthats what I will say. I hope I have the chance to work with him again because I think hes really a fantastic composer.

Scott Mendelson.![]()
And why am I not surprised?Read a few reviews. Looks like the consensus "worst bit" is Leto, who has been compared to a bad Bond villain. But apparently he isn't in the movie much.
I'm surprised. Leto is usually pretty good.![]()
Others are saying Leto is great in the film. I'm not shocked Leto is getting the mixed reaction. I say watch the film and judge for yourself how he is.
