Sylvia Hoeks will be joining Harrison Ford in the upcoming Blade Runner sequel.

“Sylvia is a radiant talent, a tremendous actress with great appeal in a wide variety of roles. Her addition to this vastly accomplished international cast is a perfect fit,” said Johnson and Kosove.


The Netherlands-born actress has appeared in mainly Dutch and European projects, including the official Dutch entry for Best Foreign Language film at the 2010 Oscars, Tirza. She also starred opposite Geoffrey Rush in The Best Offer.

You recently wrote a sequel to Blade Runner, titled The Shape of the Final Dog, that’s in pre-pre-production now. Tell me about that.
It’s a new character, a new detective. I was literally writing the last sentence of the story and the phone rang, and it was Ridley asking if I had any ideas for a Blade Runner sequel. I said, “You must be at the bottom of the barrel” to be calling me.

When was that?
That was about three years ago. Then, about a year ago, I went out and saw a lot of the graphics they were developing, and they blew my mind. I was glad with my script, but I still thought, “How do you beat the old Blade Runner?” I think this does it.

Mackenzie Davis, the actress who appeared in The Martian and also stars in Halt and Catch Fire, has joined the cast of Alcon Entertainment’s sequel to Blade Runner.

‘Blade Runner’ Sequel Adds ‘Captain Phillips’ Co-Star Barkhad Abdi

Captain Phillips Oscar nominee Barkhad Abdi has joined Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Robin Wright in the untitled sequel to Blade Runner. As has been the case with most casting announcements for the film, there are no details on his role. The cast also includes Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Carla Juri and Dave Bautista.Denis Villeneuve is directing the Alcon Entertainment pic, whose story picks up several decades after the conclusion of Ridley Scott’s 1982 original. Production is set to begin next month. Warner Bros will open the film January 12, 2018. Sony has overseas rights.

Abdi made his acting debut as a Somali pirate in Paul Greengrass’ 2013 film Captain Phillips. Along with the Oscar nomination, he earned Supporting Actor noms from the Golden Globes, BAFTA and SAG. Abdi appeared alongside Helen Mirren and Aaron Paul in thriller Eye in the Sky, which Bleecker Street opened in March.

WB and Alcon have it so much under wraps this is all what you're getting from the film at the Expo.

That has nothing to do with how "under wraps" they are keeping things. Most posters at the Lincensing Expo are bare minimum because the title (the brand) is whats on display. Its not meant to be public marketing and its not meant to market actors or set pieces or visuals or capture the imagination so they dont put much of anything on the licensing expo posters. Its all about the brand at that expo.
