I wonder what she would do if both Blade Runner or Mary Poppins were up for grabs? She's the favourite so far for that role.

Me too.

Lol we're talking as if WB have offered her a role in it. She's just hinted at wanting to be in it.

I think it will be called Blade Runner: Androids Dream.

No way they'll cut the Blade Runner name from the title.

Weird how this news isn't breaking anywhere else. I've e-mailed a few film news sites and no one picked up on it.

Eh. I could live with it. I think I'd prefer if it was just Androids Dream, though. That's a sexy title.

We're living in a branding era.

James Bond seems to be the only franchise that got the 'grandfather clause'. Otherwise, if Sony had it their way, we would've been getting James Bond: Skyfall and James Bond: Spectre.

It originated from this BBC reporter.

Yeah. Not to mention the length of time since the original. Unless you use the original's title, there's a good chance that most of the general audience won't know what the hell it's supposed to be.

Sir Ridley back on form. :funny:

Will you have final cut on Blade Runner 2?

Oh, yeah. I mean, I always have final cut on everything, really. Partly because I’m very user-friendly. I always believe when you’re given X amount of money by someone to f—k around with and make a movie, you can’t draw lines in the sand. If I was an investor and you did that to me, I’d remove your ankles. So don’t do the auteur s–t. I respect the guy for giving the money and I respect the studio for saying, “Yeah, you want to do this, here we go.”

Ryan Gosling is a great choice for Blade Runner 2.
Yeah, and I got Harrison back. Because Harrison said, “Mehh,” and I said, “No, read this.” And I think he said, “This is the best script I’ve ever had.” We’ve been working on it for a couple of years.

You once said he’s a Replicant in the first one.

Of course he’s a bloody Replicant! He’s going to have to admit it.

So don’t Replicants die after four years?

I’m not going to tell you. You’ll have to see the story. It’ll all make sense.

And you’re going to hand over the franchise to Ryan Gosling after that.

Yeah, yeah.

What year will it be set in?

It was 2017, so coming back it’ll be 2047, roughly. As young as you can play Ryan Gosling. He’s 34, but he looks 27 when he’s doing his push-ups. So maybe 2050.

Denis Villeneuve confirms Blade Runner set for 2017. :hmr:

“We are dreaming about it, drawing it, dreaming, drawing,” Villeneuve says. “The movie should be ready in 2017.”

Blade Runner holds a special place in education of Villeneuve as a filmmaker. “This movie is linked to the birth of my passion for cinema. [When it came out] I was a young teenager starting to understand the job of a director.

Blade Runner had a huge impact on me,”
he said. “It’s one of my favorite movies of all time. I know this movie by heart. I know every single shot of it. I have a very intimate relationship with this movie.”

“I never thought that this could happen. I’ve been dreaming to do a movie like this since I was very young,” he says. “I feel in my soul that I can do it. But I must say, it’s a big challenge.”

So I guess this means that Sir Ridley has convinced Ford that Deckard should be a replicant.

That collidar interviewer is sorta glib. There is nothing saying that the iteration of Nexus Decard is survives only four years.

Eh. I could live with it. I think I'd prefer if it was just Androids Dream, though. That's a sexy title.

Agreed. It's very evocative and also has the added benefit of distancing itself from the original Blade Runner film a bit too. It just feels like a more "classy" title than something like "Blade Runner: Androids Dream." However Ridley and the studio are out to make money and turn this into a franchise, so they'll almost definitely try for the latter title.

It seems pretty clear to me from his latest interviews that Ridley just wants to make this film for two reasons: 1) to make money and hopefully start up a new big sci-fi franchise to cash in on and 2) finally seal the deal on his obsession with Deckard being a Replicant.

Neither reason is outright bad, but the stuff Ridley says is just a far cry from the seemingly genuine passion and determination that Denis- and Roger Deakins too- convey in their interviews lately. Denis Villeneuve is really the best thing that could have happened to this project.

A few day's old interview from Roger Deakins and he talk's about Blade Runner saying the sequel won't be made in 3D but converted to it.

http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplayl...ner-2-will-likely-be-converted-to-3d-20151007

Deakins revealed that the "Blade Runner" followup will likely be presented in 3D. Asked by the actor if he would ever shoot in 3D, Deakins said: "No, I won't. I've been offered it. I just don't want to. I think I'm gonna do this film with Denis [Villeneuve] that'll be made into 3D eventually, but it won't be shot in 3D. I don't really like watching 3D. I mean, I've worked on a lot of animated movies that were 3D."

Does anyone shoot in 3D anymore? I know that it limits the types of lenses you can use which is a major problem.
