Bond 25 - Part 1

There's no way I could take Gosling serious as a villain.

Facial hair helps. I wouldn't have been able to enjoy his performance as a Blade Runner as much if he had been clean shaven for the role.

With Daniel Craig already on board to return as 007, MGM and Eon are looking to hire a director for the next installment of the James Bond franchise. High on their list is “Slumdog Millionaire” director Danny Boyle, though sources tell Variety that no formal offer has yet been made.

Boyle has keen interest in the project and has always wanted to direct a Bond film. He is currently developing a project for Working Title, but with no cast currently attached, there is always the possibility of pushing that movie back to direct the 25th installment in the series.

Boyle has long been in MGM and Eon’s sights to direct a Bond movie, going back to 2012’s “Skyfall” and 2015’s “Spectre.”

Not going to lie, Boyle would be amazing

Bale or gosling as the main villain. I couldn’t see them as villains sitting in a hollowed out volcano or under a satellite.

I could see them as freelance criminals that cause violence around the globe with a small group of men.

Something like silva but no permanent base

Danny Boyle is a meh choice for Bond. I can't wait to see the camera from the cigarette lighter in the car.

Mark Strong, full Sunshine mode. Stark naked, massively burnt, chasing Bond and co around talking about star dust, there's your film.

Henry Cavill as mustached Bond villain !
You can't be a Mission: Impossible villain AND a Bond villain. There are rules! It's literally the only reason we haven't seen Christoph Waltz as a Mission: Impossible villain at this point. :oldrazz:

I doubt that Cavill is main villain in MI:6, but he can play one here, just give him a different type of mustache. :o

I'm curious to know which would be the bigger fan outcry.

A black British Bond or an American actor playing him (with a british accent of course)..

The former. They've nearly cast a couple of Americans in the past.

You gotta tick as many boxes as you can of inevitable fan outrage.

Cast Laverne Cox.

With Daniel's age, I wouldn't mind a movie about an older Bond ala Logan or Unforgiven. Could be an epic and unique swansong for him.

Kind of, but not really. He was just burnt out with his job and out of practice after his injury but not really old.

In Skyfall, multiple characters make a point of his age, mention that he has been doing the job for too long, and his beard scruff is even grey.

That's as far as this franchise should go with an old Bond. Having a Bond film in which he is a wreck like Logan wouldn't even be fun. Itd just be sad and pitiful. Old Logan was an interesting reversal on Wolverine because he is a character that is known for his perpetual vitality, flawless instant healing and very slow aging. But just because it works with Wolverine that doesn't mean every cinematic hero needs a film in which the hero is an old rickety wreck running on fumes.

doesn't even have to be depressing and bleak like Logan. I just think it would be interesting if Craig's Bond would be allowed to have a really emotional and gamechanging ending like Jackman's Wolverine before getting recast.

I wouldn't mind if they gave the character, or at least Daniel Craig's depiction of the character a conclusion. Whether that means killing him off or just leaving it really ambiguous with its ending, I'd not turn it away. Fleming certainly toyed with the idea in YOLT, before basically rebooting the character for his unfinished last novel.

There's a decent chance that they'll reboot the character again anyway with Bond 26 if Nolan steps on, so go for it I say.

The Skyfall thing with making a point about his age (as in he's getting past it, an old man agent) felt so dumb and incongruous with Casino Royale. :woot:

Like, I get it, he had a whole career in special forces before joining MI6, but still. Casino's your first 00 mission, 6 years later you're the old man of the crew? Heh. Field espionage is a short career, but yeaaahhh.

Had totally forgotten Brolin was up for Bond at one point too. :loco: Such weird thinking. Brolin's awesome, but something about an American Bond feels off somehow, different to a Brit Supes or Bats, don't know why. Should probably keep this as Brits-or-Commonwealth guys, methinks.

James Brolin:

I'd like to see any such handover to the 'younger version' actually include craig (or mention of him) retiring and taking a 'teaching position at our academy'..
