Borat 2!

'Borat' Sequel Lands at Amazon Prime Video - Variety

Sacha Baron Cohen’s “Borat” sequel will premiere on Amazon Prime Video, Variety has confirmed.

It’s unclear when the film will be released on the streaming service, though sources say it will debut before the presidential election in November. Amazon declined to confirm the official title for the follow-up.

The movie — a direct sequel to Cohen’s 2006 film “Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan” — was secretly filmed and completed during the pandemic. Cohen was recently spotted in Los Angeles dressed in character as Borat Sagdiyev, a Kazakh journalist who was first introduced to audiences on “F2F” and “Da Ali G Show.”

Gonna have to rewatch the first one.

I see a lot of hype around this. I've always wondered how Borat held up to audiences

Not gonna lie... I laughed.

I love the title. :funny:

I'm not expecting the greatness like the original, but I'm gonna watch this for sure.

Can't wait. Rewatched the original for the first time in over a decade and it killed me all over again.

Really, really loving the title.

But...I dunno, the trailer's kinda neither-here-nor-there for me somehow. Chuckled at it, but it does seem really...scripted or something? Obviously Azamat and Luenell were in on it with the first movie, so that's no different to the daughter here. But just seemed sort of...like the extras in that dinner ball scene were actors or something?

Kinda wait-and-see for me, clearly gonna check it out, it's Sasha. But also admittedly getting Dumb & Dumber To vibes from the thing. That sort of "the movie doesn't even suck, enjoyed it at about a 7/10 level, but it really was best just left the hell alone" thing, kinda the feeling I'm expecting to get from it.

Sasha sounds way off, too, voice-wise, he's way closer to the Jimmy Kimmel bit vocally than the first movie. Nitpick, but a little lame all the same.

On the positive, do really love the "Sasha as Borat as other people" meta thing at play, clearly has a bunch of potential. Wait and see I guess.

And is the guy at the end with the 'fisting' gag the same character as the redneck rally "inject them with the Wuhan flu/chop 'em up like the Saudis do/nuke 'em up like in World War 2"? Looked like he was in a fat suit for the rally video, but does seem like some overlap with the clothes and voice there. Could be.

Baron Cohen has been hit or miss (mostly miss) with his solo projects since the first Borat and Who Is America was uncomfortable to watch at times due to the scum of the earth he was interviewing on that show, but if it's anywhere close to being as funny as the first film it'll be a winner. Seth Rogen has given his stamp of approval, and he worked on Da Ali G show back in the day when Baron Cohen was in his prime so I'll take his word for it.

Just read about one of the interviews that wasn’t in the trailer. Wow is all I can say.

Oh, Rudy... how the transparently awful have fallen.

Hilarious. Maria Bakalova who plays his daughter did a amazing job. Loved the ending. Don't go on the IMDB page until after the movie as it spoils a big cameo.

Just finished it. This obviously lost the novelty and spontaneity of the first one but in exchange we got something more cohesive, timely, and heart. I enjoyed the “twist” at the end. And wow, what a star making turn for Bakalova!
