Bought/Thought 10/11

I didn't know that. That's cool, provided it's really Quasar and not an Irredeemable Ant-Man deal.

Did anyone else skip Thanos' explaniation of what Cosmic Power was, and just go "Right, so it's magic"?

Cause god knows after reading through those panels 2 or 3 times I just gave up.

Actually, last I heard, it was indeed going to be a new person as Quasar.

And it's going to be a crossover with Supreme Power, because Joe Q doesn't want to admit that the sales for the MK version of that book have started tanking, thus proving that yanking it from MAX to "draw a bigger croud" has utterly failed.

You have no idea how much I want to gloat in Joey Q's face and then piledrive him. I knew this POS decision was a mistake from the beginning and now Supreme Power barely gets a smile out of me when I go to buy it. Dumbass marketing strategy :cmad:

(which, while once a lark, has now dominated their franchise to the point where no progress on the fundamentals can ever be made. Make the X-Mansion a school full of deformed mutants? Erase it with M-Day. Send the X-Men into space to fight aliens, a purpose they weren't made for? Repeat, ad nausem. It makes no damned sense.
Space, and the Shi'Ar, has been prett integral to the franchise since the early Claremont years; the Shi'Ar, in particular, have so much history with the X-Men that I would classify them as one of the fundamentals. The X-Men are mutants, sure, but they're also a superhero team that has frequent dealings with an alien race. Regarding the whole issue of the mutant race, I'm not sure how much "progress" they could ever actually make, since they live in a shared universe with dozens of other titles and heroes (that couldn't afford, for example, a massive mutant baby boom that reshapes the population of the United States).

Most people seem to think that space and the Shi'ar have no business being within ten miles of an X-Men comic. All of the space-related stuff was cut out of X3, for example, and I've seen a lot of people here on the boards who claim that everything involving both mutants and aliens is lame.

I'm not a big fan of some Space stuff....But I love Shi'ar and the Imerial Guard.

I'm not a fan of the X-Men in space. Never have been. All the stuff with the Shi'ar shoulda happened to the Avengers. (Avengers vs the Imperial Guard. Wow.) But i'm enjoying Bru's run so far. Dispite the space crap.

See? I don't really get what is so inherently incompatible with space about the X-Men, myself, but I don't read X-Men comics other than Astonishing and X-Factor anymore, so I don't really care.

It has just always seemed, outside what the X-Men is supposed to be about. Leave the space stuff for those more suited for it. If anybody should be mainly Earth based, it's Mutants. I mean, that's where the majority of they're problems lie. You know, saving a world that both hates and fears them. All that jazz. Not saying that the stuff done sucked or anything. Phoenix saga, some of the Brood stuff. Good reads all around. I've just always felt that stuff should be reserved for, you know, your common Superhero books.

Well there is a Quasar Mini after Annihilation.

Is it about Wendell Vaughn or someone new? I remember Quesada saying that he thought the quantum bands should go to someone else

And Sally Floyd meets the only Pro-SHRA politician who isn't a thug, an idiot, or a bigot. In fact, he all but makes her overzealous liberal paranoia seem dumb and predictable. An honest criticism of a liberal? Get a good look, it'll never happen again.

I literally did a double-take reading this and almost fell out of my chair from the shock. There are actually pro-reg supporters who aren't nazis? Wow, where was this like, I don't know, six issues ago? Better late than never, I suppose. Oh wait, does this guy who gave Sally a verbal lashing know about Tony and Reed's Gulag in the Negative Zone, the cloning of Thor, or the hiring super-powered psychotics to go after heroes? *sigh* I guess it will all balance out once that mysterious guy who promised to remove Green Goblin's nanocites is revealed to be [blackout]Nick Fury[/blackout] unless its [blackout]Damage Control again or another member of Millar's "shadow government" Scorpion talked about in MK Spider-Man #9[/blackout]

Yeah, but even the main CW mini is crap. And, really, how much editorial oversight do you think Millar's getting on that? Seems like another case of Quesada going, "Millar/Bendis/JMS/(insert other "hot" writer's name here) has an idea? All right, editors, clear the **** out and give 'em room to work! What? No, I don't have to hear what the idea is. What're you, new?"
Crap? I can't believe anyone can consider Civil War crap, especially when compared to the complete garbage that was Infinite Crisis.

Now, I'll agree that the Pro-Side isn't getting much of a shot here, but I actually believe it's starting to turn around, and Frontline will be the start of that. Mark my words: that impassioned speech is the beginning of something. I'm even betting that Speedball registers before this is all over.

Believe it or not, that's my stance on it. Where did the comparison to Infinite Crisis come from, coincidentally? I never mentioned anything about comparing it to IC. No, I'm deeming it crap purely on its own lack of merits.

I was simply comparing 2 crossover events. That's all. You're entitled to your opinion, I just think it's an exaggeration.

Is it true that Ultimate Cable is actually Ultimate Wolverine from the future?

Pretty much my exact feelings...in reverse.

No, actually I dont think that at all. For all the bad writing and anti-climactic moments CW has been quite solid IMO. Especially since im one of few who doesnt see the rampant mischaracterizations (exception Reed) that you guys all point out. And IC was fine, just lots of little things that couldve been done better.

CW has been pretty good, but I can't find myself to read the tie-ins anymore. It's at the point where "yes,I know it's heroes vs heroes because it's the government's fault" and so on and so on.

IC on the other hand I have not read.I've decided to stick with current DC stuff for the moment (besides some stand alone trades).Their continuity is said to have been very much more tight. However, all the COIE and IC stuff really gives me a mindf***.I must have read the Wiki articles at least 5 times and still cannot understand either event. This is no jab at DC fans, just being honest.
