Thought:

New X-Men #27: One of my favorite X-Men titles. This book knows how to take classic characters that we loved in the 80's, mix it with the "new" New Mutants of today, and make for some excellent stories that everyone will be enjoying way into the future. This ending of the Stryker storyline sets us up for the next with Nimrod coming back into things and Josh Foley's powers changing into something deadly. Can't wait for the next issue. 8/10

Civil War: Front Line #1: After the end of Generation M, it's great to see Sally getting back into the mix. I'm really enjoying her character, and telling about the events spinning out of Civil War from a journalist's perspective, while being done many times before, only makes sense. Definitely a lot more happening in the issues focusing on Civil War than we had with House Of M. Plus, these tie-ins already are better than stuff that HoM did, like the crappy House Of M: Spider-Man tie-in. 9/10

X-Men: The End #6: Finally, we get the final issue of book three...and, while I have been supportive of this book since it began, the ending did nothing for me. It left more things confused for me, and I thought to myself, "That's it?" Just like Ultimate Gah-lak-tus, a lot of build up for a very week ending. 5/10

Marvel Spotlight - Civil War: First, my usual complaint: They shouldn't be charging 2.99 for this book. But, my new complaint is that if they want to truly spotlight these writers and artists, they should include all of their previous work in the spotlight section; I want to know what they've done independantly and with DC, not just Marvel. If you want to give these talented people their due, don't shut out the previous contributions. 7/10

Annihilation - Silver Surfer #3: Another great Annihilation comic...I almost wish I'd just wait and read all the miniseries leading up to the main event all together when all 16 books are done next month. But, I've been looking forward to cosmic Marvel for so long, I just wouldn't have the patience. There are so many players in this event...each book blending together in my mind, I have to remember which one includes Thanos, Gamora, Drax, or numerous other supporting characters, that my only complaint is trying to remember it all each week when a new issue comes out. Silver Surfer issue #3 is no exception. So much happening within just this one issue, and the somewhat "rebirth" of the Silver Surfer by Galactus has me more excited. Wow, this Galactus kicks butt over the Ultimate Gah-Lak-Tus. 9/10

Marvel Team-Up #21: First off, I'm enjoying Marvel Team-Up still...but, those first 14 issues just seemed better than what's come after to me. I just don't jump up to read it first anymore. Other than that, the introduction of the new superhero, Freedoms Ring, has my interest. I liked how the issue began with him telling of the rules for using the ring to his friend...and I enjoyed having Spidey and Abomination in the book, too. But, I guess the problem is how great this book was when it started off, that having it just be ok is kind of disappointing. 8/10

Essential Fantastic Four Vol. 5: What's to say? Classic F4 stories from the 70's, with many of the classic supporting characters and villians many of us still remember, only to make us realize how great the Fantastic Four was back in the day. The first word in the name of these series say it all: Essential. 10/10

Superman - Doomsday TPB: In fact, two TPB's for Superman came out this week...this one and one collecting all the Our Worlds At War issues. I love these for the simple fact you have a nice story in color at a reasonable price. It's the one thing I believe DC does better in regards to Trade Paperbacks. Marvel just charges too much for giving so little. Many times, it's cheaper to get the individual issues than spend what Marvel expects to get on a trade paperback. 9/10

Last Planet Standing #3: I think they could seriously get rid of the entire Marvel Adventures line and replace it with Spider-Girl and related titles. I know they've done it before, and the only title to last was Spider-Girl...but, I can't believe A-Next, J2, and other titles had lower sales that Marvel Adventures does. Just from judging by this second event miniseries, the stories are much better, they stick to a continuity that is already well established, and the writing isn't so dumbied down that only kids under 12 will enjoy it. And, just like above with Annihilation, this less selling title is much better in handling a story about Galactus than in the over hyped Ultimate books. 8/10

Fury - Peacemaker #5: While Sgt. Rock is still the better of the two war miniseries currently being put out, this title has gotten much, much better. Basically, the first two issues are almost just filler. I could easily recommend not picking up issue #1 & 2, and just getting issues #3-6. It almost feels like they had a four issue miniseries to do, but wanted to stretch it out to 6 issues to make a longer TPB. This has turned into a fun war story from Fury's past, and I can't wait for the conclusion next month. 8/10

Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #9: When I started to read this issue, I was pretty skeptical. I mean, how many times do we have to see future stories that impact Spider-Man today? But, by the time I got to the end, my thinking changed. I found myself enjoying the story enough to think, "what does it matter if the concept has been done before, as long as the ride is enjoyable." Sure, we don't really need another Goblin character, but this is basically what it is: A Spidey story not reliant on a lot of background information, that's suppose to be nothing but a fun story. I can't wait to see what happens after the final pages "awkward moment." (BTW, is that how you spell awkward? It just looks strange...) 8/10

BUM, DC has been stressing that Batwoman's gay in all of their press releases, touting as attempting to be politically correct when it's painfully obvious that it's for sales.

What I found more interesting is that the Batman titles have three lesbian characters now, with the new Batwoman being the latest. The new Catwoman is gay and so is the main female police officer, (I'm going to spell her name wrong) Officer Montoya.

Not to mention that Batman and Robin are gay; that's where it started, really.

Part of the irony is that Kathy Kane was introduced to prove to readers that Batman wasn't gay.

It's all Greg Rucka's doing, Lesbians are sweet!

It's on this thread I believe.

I don't have a scanner.

I do have to agree with Phaedrus45 on one point; despite the fact that Marvel could seriously be digging themselves into a hole with some characters with this (i.e. Spider-Man), and that it reaks of more knee-jerk liberal overkill, CIVIL WAR and its tie-ins are looking a lot better than HOM was last year. 2006's event, win, lose, or draw (or retconned away in 2 years), is hands down better than HOM could ever be. That's at least an improvement.

Bought:
52 week 5
The Amazing Spider-Man #530
The Amazing Spider-Man #531
Batman: Secrets #4
Civil War Front Line #1
Detective #820
Outsiders #37
Wolverine #42
Wonder Woman #1

Best was Wonder Woman without a doubt, love the art, the story has been setup well, everything is just great.
10/10

Amazing Spider-Man was also great, i'm loving the new costume :)

and of course this Batman arc is the best ever :)

Ok here it is:

Detective Comics #820: Im enjoying the hell out of this crossover and looks like its building up to a big finale. Best moments were Batman and Robin's conversations and Batman telling Tim how proud he is of him almost made me cry if I had a soul. 9/10

Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #9: These types of stories almsot always end up horribly done but this one shows some promise. Looking forward to Aunt man and Uncle Ben's reactions. 7/10

52#5-Finally, after some pretty average issues, the story picks up as the men and women from space come back. Looking forward to see what happens with them, and Starfire has no shame. 8/10.

Civil War Frontline #1:This issue has me hooked fro the rest of the series. The Ben urich/Sally Floyd story looks to be promising as they both struggle to find which side theyre on. The Accused story just lloks to be more trouble for poor ol Speedball and the last story seemed out of place but was enjoyable.10/10

Wonder Woman #1: Im on board all the way. Donna Troy wont last as WW, and the last page reveal just had me hooked. 9/10.

Outsiders#37: Meh, issue had some cool moments but Nightwing has been seriously ****ed over in DC's OYL. 6/10

Jonah Hex #8: Badass. Nuff said. 9/10

She-Hulk #8: I got this 2 weeks late and im pissed. Seems it was a sell-out at marvel according to newsarama whioch only leads me to believe some ******* put it on his pull list just because it was a Civil War tie-in and will never read it again and taking the copy reserved for me. Ok, now to the issue, it was great. New Warriors represent. 8/10.
