Far too logical.

Hey man, it's true. :cmad: Read War Journal then decide if you like it or not.

Darth hates loads of books he hasn't read, I think he just enjoys having something to hate...he's so full of biterness :csad:

LOL, i've taken notice.

Have you guys ever sat and wondered, that if I hate on books just to get a rise out of people?

It creates tension, discussion, debate and fun.

Bought:

Conan #34
Marvel Handbook #11
Red Menace #1
Heroes for Hire #3
Omega men #1 and #2
X-factor #13
Runaways #22
Uncle Sam/Freedom Fighters #5
Daredevil #91
Blue Beetle #8
Batman #658
Connor Hawke #1
Wonder Woman #3
52 #29
Civil War Frontline #8
Perhapanauts #2
The Boys #5

Thought:

Freedom Fighters - The incredible art is the best thing about the book...the story is just aaaaaaaight.

Wonder Woman - what's the deal with the delays?

Connor Hawke - I don't read Green Arrow anymore so I have no clue who the old man hanging with Hawke is. Otherwise it was a decent first issue...I don't know the artist but I like his work.

Civil War Frontline - My only problem was the Ms. Marvel versus Falcon fight in the third story. WTF? Ms. Marvel can benchpress buses! She punched him and they kept on going? Uh...yeah.:whatever:

Dont be silly....it will never be completed :p

Dread, you need your own comic based tv show. You kick ass. You could do reviews and interviews with talent, real ball busting ones, and you could grill late artists and have your audience (ie us comic fans) put our questions to them. That would rock, because someone needs to tell these part timers how disrespectful we find it.

You awere 100% on how I think they see things too. The only one I think takes his duties remotely seriously is Joss Whedon, and even his scheduling can be iffy.
From where I stand, we may see a 3rd issue of ULTIMATE WOLVERINE VS. HULK sometime next year, and then it'll quietly fade into the sunset like DAREDEVIL: TARGET. Marvel got maybe 2-3 figure sales from both issues, and they got to meet the guy from LOST. The debacle won't change their ways when it comes to sacrificing intigrity to "get the TV people here", so it almost seems moot to bother.

My own show? Heh, I'm not very camera friendly. I'd intern at WIZARD but I lack the time, and they stopped being critical of most comics years ago, and mostly function as cheerleaders for the Big Two. Maybe a website, if I had the time, which is usually the dilemma. ;) Glad you like my rants.

Hmm, not being critical, but don't you think Wizard stopped being critical on most comics a few years ago because that's when comics started showing an increase in quality?

Why is there any reason but to praise and promote the great work the big two is doing? Why waste space on your magazine telling someone how badly something sucks, when you could explain why a particular book is flying off the shelves?

While I enjoy your reviews, they do have some holes. I'm not trying to break you down, but maybe I could draw some attention to your faults so that you can refine your technique.

In comic news. Am I the only one, totally impressed by Amazing Spider-Man and Ultimate Spider-Man. Both titles were on unstable ground, but both these issues seemed to prove to me why I follow the webhead.

Civil War Frontline #8

DAREDEVIL #91- Brubaker continues to weave an intrregaing if slow paced noir mysetery. It turns out Lily, the woman who’s father Matt’s been tracking in connection with Foggys death is in fact playing Matt for a fool, which I kind of had the feeling might happen. What insures in the next 23 pages is DD discovering this, tracking Lily and Tombstone down and a 2 on 1 fight scene at the end.

Lark is as usually is very good and handles the end fight well, but one problem I’ve found however is that he seems to get in the habit of drawing DD in the same pose when he is close up. Go reread the last few issues and see what I mean.

4 out of 5

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #536- This issue basically throws 4 pages of Civil War #5 out the window. Instead of said pages we are treated to a small fight outside StarkTower between Iron Man and Spidey. JMS again writes Iron Man as an uber *****bag, having installed a failsafe in the Iron Spidey armor, but surprisingly Peter hasn’t forgot his intellect entirely and figured this out prior and manages to reactivate the armor and escape capture. For the remainder of the issue the focus is on the aftermath of Peter’s choice to leave the pro-reg side; how it affects his family and how he can make amends for his mistakes. Sadly we don’t see Cap or any of the anti-regs, I had hopped we would see Cap and Pete talk after he recovering from his injurers sustained in CW#5, but alas. The only part that didn’t really click with me was Peter talking to “himself” in the park. I just seemed a bit out there.

So all together a pretty good, JMS pulls it out the bag and delivers a good issue that ties together with some moments of we’ve been waiting for,

3 out of 5

ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #102 – I’m really not sure what to say. I never brought USM until the start of the year when a friend of mine lent me the Venom arc in trade. Which I’m quite enjoyed. I caught up with back issues and trades and starting buying monthly with now infamous Deadpool arc (for those lucky enough to have missed that arc, think Ultimate Team-up with an unfunny, racist Deadpool.).

Having 93 issues fresh in my mind mend that I can spot the drop in quality and oh boy has it dropped. Not Bagley of course, who is constant with his art and for the most part, always has been. No predictably, it’s Bendis. I’m just not sure where he’s going with the arc. First Gwen’s resurrection, then Aunt May learning Peter’s secret, followed by the recon of Richard’s death and worst of all MJ’s transformation.Having started well in the first 2 issues the arc has quickly become almost as bad as the original clone saga; yeah I didn’t think it was possible either. The thing that bugs me the most is that, all these clones might as well have expirer dates stamped on their foreheads. Because it’s a foregone conclusion that other than Spider-Woman, they aren’t going to survive the arc, which begs the question why waste Ultimatizing Scorpion so he can just die.

2 out of 5. One point for Bagley’s art and another for Six Arm Spidey who looks like Michael J Fox in Teen Wolf.

You can knock the guy all you want, but...Bendis.

Yer the only one, Purple. Every core Spidey title BLOWS. You want good spidey? Read Marvel Adventures, MA Avengers, Sensational or Mary Jane. The rest you can wipe yer ass with, that's their quality.

Anyone get Punisher War Journal in Black and White? Just ordered it over the coloured one.
