Bought a few, but I have to go to work so I only had time to read Countdown #43

Countdown: Basically an issue long wake for Bart Allen. Has speeches from Wonder Girl, Cyborg, Jay, Robin, and interestingly enough, from Bart Himself (Via a video). Very sweet issue, but its also got Jimmy Olsen chastising himself for having his newfound "powers" but not using them. He decides to take up a role as an active hero. Also, some scenes, but no real development with the monitor/Jason/Donna group. Holly Catwoman is in full swing in the Amazon Woman's Shelter, where she meets a seemingly balanced and reformed Harlequin. finally, Monarch shows Forerunner what has become of her earth, and she swears revenge on the mystery woman that has destroyed her people.

Mystery woman being Eclipso probably.

Transformers Spotlight: Galvatron- PICK OF THE WEEK! Simon Furman is really knocking the IDW books out of the park. Instead of rehashing the past (like Dreamwave's ill fated books), he gives us interesting new takes on classic characters. For example, here's Galvatron. His personality remains intact, but he's no longer the same bot as Megatron. Instead, he's a powerful new foe. Dreamwave's blunders may have been big, but it brought us a few great gems, one of which being the very talented Guido Guidi. Guidi impresses with some stunning visuals, and some great Cybertronian takes on classic characters. Major props on using some forgotten Generation 2 characters, as well. Skram was my first Transformer, and I still have Leadfoot. Plus, this issue gets some big points for tying in more with the last arc (Escalation). Often times these spotlights are a little too distantly tied in. 9/10

Fallen Son- Well, the mini has ended. Some felt it was filler, but I can't deny the power Loeb brought across with some of the most talented artists Marvel has. This issue is the always amazing John Cassaday. Cassaday gives us some breathtaking visuals this issue, while Loeb gives us Cap's final goodbye, and a resting place I hadn't considered. Here's hoping the death sticks, because Marvel has crafted a fantastic send off for the legend. 9/10

New Warriors- A slower start than last issue, but I'm falling in love with this book's premise. Civil War has reinvigorated a lot of books. Here's hoping Grevioux keeps it up. 8/10

Ant-Man- I'm gonna miss this book. Only two issues left with a lot of ground to cover. I really hope Kirkman doesn't kill off Eric at the end. It'd be a shame to lose such a fun character. 8/10

New Avengers/Transformers- Goofy, but fun. I'm glad Cap's attitude was explained, I was worried Moore was doing a poor job with his characterization. Slow start, but I'm eager for the rest of this mini. I hope we actually get a few of them. There's tons of potential to include the Initiative and Galactus and Unicron (Furman doesn't plan on using him anyway) at some point. 8/10

Marvel Zombies/AoD- A fun end to a fun mini. Nothing could touch Nextwave's awesome appearance earlier in the mini, but the end of this issue definitely keeps the fun tone of the end of the first one. Glad I picked this up, even if the AoD stuff had me lost a few times. 8/10

Dark Tower- Starting to regret this. It's just not keeping my attention. Oh well, just one more issue. It really is a beautiful sight, though. 5/10

I've missed that little mallrat. :yay:

"Did you miss me? Please, put on your pants and sit over here."

You can make fun of me all you want. I'm a Jubilee fanboy.

A couple of reviews should be right here because if my day went as planned, I would've bought my comics on an extended lunch break around 3 p.m. and read a couple in the car while I ate some fast food from a drive-through. You'll notice, however, that a couple of reviews are not posted here. You see, nothing went as planned today and my stupid comic shop had only received their comics from UPS a half-hour before I got there, so there was a grand total of three comics on the stands, one of which was the Wolf-Man Director's Cut, which I don't need because I got the FCBD copy, and the other two of which were comics I don't ****ing read. Now I've gotta work 'til 11:30 tonight, which means I won't be able to go back to the shop until my lunch break tomorrow and I ****ing hate the whole goddamned world. :cmad:

I know. Damn the holiday. I have to wait until tomorrow for my books, as well.

I wouldn't even mind except that today was supposed to be ****ing Thor day, goddamnit!

:(

Avoid the spoilers and wait for tomorrow. It's just one more day.

"A tragedy *dramatic pause* indeed."

Fallen Son:Iron Man - Haven't been reading this mini, but bought it since Sam's eulogy is featured as well as the proper burial.Cassaday works his magic on some gorgeous 1 and 2 page spreads. The conclusion in the Arctic was only fitting. If you've been following the main Cap book, this is a MUST HAVE issue since it fills in alot of blanks.Hopefully this clears the way for Cassaday to finish Planetary!

Detective Comics #833
- Conclusion of the Bats/Zee team-up.Kramer's art seems to have really tightened up as his run continues, there is one in particular splash of [BLACKOUT]Bats punching Joker out with Zee[/BLACKOUT] looking on that just looks great.I think I'm going to start sticking with the Dini issues from here on out.McGraw had some decent issues, but Dini always delivers a very dense and sure winner story.

All Star Superman #8
- God that Bizarro speak is confusing as hell.Supes supposedly [BLACKOUT]dies[/BLACKOUT] at the end of the issue.I know this has been foreshadowed in past issues, but I doubt he's actually dead.Maybe in the final issue, but not yet.Going to have to re-read this.

JLA #10 - All the spoilers online really killed this for me,but still a pretty exciting story overall.I read all 5 issues in one sitting just a short while ago. While the Countdown elements don't interest me in the slightest,I got a feeling that Wally wasn't really sure of something after Hal and Roy greeted him.Starman had some interesting lines as well calling Big Blue "Kal-L" and the Flash returning meaning the end of worlds.

Prediction: This is going to lead to Final Crisis and the return of Barry Allen.

I wouldn't even mind except that today was supposed to be ****ing Thor day, goddamnit!

:(

Read this in store. From what I recall.

[BLACKOUT]-All the preview pages shown over the past months are in sequential order
-after this,Thor is awaken in some underworld place by Donal Blake, fights a bunch of monsters, and grabs a hold of Mjolnir giving the "I am Thor!" speech
-Donald Blake checks into a hotel or something, sits in his hotel room and hits the ground with his cane transforming into Thor
-leaving us with a "to be continued"[/BLACKOUT]

The temptation to read that is strong. I am stronger.

You read it in the store? :o

Also, I didn't read that. I am, however, typing this edit without looking at my screen because I forgot that the edit window displays spoilers without blacking them out in their raw tagged form and barely managed to look away in time.

It was a pretty slow issue. It basically just talked about how Thor exists because people think he exists and he should come back because people want him back.

Edit; But then again, it was telling his rebirth so I suppose it's alright.

Argh, now I have to depart this thread completely. Have fun with your spoilers, you... ****in'... good-store-having... ****in'... *****! Or something.

:(:(:(
