Actually, yeah, now that you mention it - the term completionist seems very stupid to me.
Are you a stamp collector or do you enjoy reading the stories?
In the case of some of Nightwing's bad story arcs, it was simply because I have the entire series from issue 1 complete, so dropped 6 issues to have an incomplete run wouldn't fare well in my head. Similar to Robin's solo series, theres been an arc or two where i was just like "guhhhhhhhhh really?" and wanted to drop them, but because I have every other issue I picked them up.
I'm only really like that with things I own since issue 1 though. If it's something I started getting midway through a run (like Green Arrow) then I don't bother if I don't like the arc, but if it's something I've kept complete since day 1, then yeah you better believe I'm going to suck it up and shell out the extra 20$ for a ****ty arc to keep my collection complete.
Are you kidding me? The most you'll get for a mainstream comic book from the last 10 years is a couple hundred dollars. Probably. Mainstream comics won't go for a fraction as much 50 years from now as comics from the 60s.
If a mainstream comic book from the last 10 years ago is a couple hundred dollars, think about how much of an increase that is from the cover price in just a decade. I'm not saying you'll be able to buy a bucnha new age comic books and sell them off and live without ever having to work, but I'm saying that they're going to just become worth more and more as time goes on, and next thing you know that 3.99$ book is worth 20$. Another way of looking at it is like this. If you bought a 4 million dollar investment 10 years ago and it grew to 20 million dollars in under a decade, you'd be estatic. But since we're dealing with things that are under a Lincon people think it's just chicken stratch.
