Don't even bother. As soon as it involves Spider-Man TMOB's critical faculties go right out the window.

Yeah, what's the ramifications to come from "R.I.P."? I don't read Batman comics but I'm really curious as to if anyone died or anything big happened. I tried reading the issues to find out myself by I was sooooooo lost as to what was going on in the pages of the first couple parts that I had no clue what I was reading.

Long story short, right before Bruce's parents were killed, Bruce asked his dad about Zorro, and said that he wanted to be like Zorro day, with his fathers response being somewhat negative and saying they'd probably throw him in Arkham.

That was the "big reveal", which comes in the form of Batman talking about if he had any repressed memories and scars on his consciousness. People are taking that last page as a "Bruce now remembers this, and stops being Batman cause it's what his father would want".

That's about it. It's still an amazing story, and no amount of 'spoilers' could actually give you the full scope of it. If you havn't bought it yet, either wait for the Trade or go get the back issues. Or DL it, whatever. But read it, because it really is one of the better Batman stories in years.

It's the same exact process.

I didn't read RIP, so I have no idea whether it's the same or not... however, in my somewhat sarcastic response, it's typical for DC to have one reboot after the next while it didn't happen in Spider-Man, despite what all the nay-sayers say...

See above... I was asking because I have NO idea how RIP went down...

Spider-Man & Batman are my two favorite comic book characters.

However, I've practically given up on many DC books because they revamp their universe every 8 years or so and it's quite annoying...

I don't look at Spider-Man with rose coloured glasses, and I was VERY critical at the begining of BND because of what was being presented to me. However, I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt because we were told that answers were coming... some answers we're seeing being hinted at as we speak... and one of them being presented in December (Harry's return)... Continuity is VERY important to me, and for the time being, I'm enjoying some good old fashion Spdiey tales WITH the expectation that answers to the continuity gaffs will be explained at some point... which every indication I've seen thus far points that way... making BND "NOT" a reboot; therefore, not the same as what we see in the DC books...

So don't pretend to "know" me nor "judge" me... please...

Interesting... I was going to get it trade...

:yay:

Yea,I like the "new slate" type of feel that Cap has with this new arc.Everything is progressing and everything feels fresh again. Not to say TDOCA was bad or anything.

No, it wasn't, but I also am enjoying a story that doesn't all lead back to Red Skull. He was on the verge of overexposure.

Actually, Corps is a collective noun. So, when referring to them as a collective, you treat them as one entity. Therefore, The Corps is Back is absolutely correct. To use the plural, you would say "The members of the Corp ARE back."

But the issue was great, and my favorite of the week. The last page was great, and is going to set up some great family psycho-drama.

Yeah, it will be some cool sci-fi family drama.

It still feels weird saying, "The Corps is back" to me.

Actually, it can be either one, depending on whether your English is American-based or British-based.

It's not "corpse", it's "core". The 's' at the end is always silent. Theres no "corps's" or "cores" or anything, it's always just "'core'".

Wow, kid yourself harder.

Now I'm waiting for the part in your cycle where you start calling everyone who disagrees with you a baby, that's always fun.

Fin Fang Four #1 - the latest Marvel Digicomic Excusives. To be frank, I didn't care for it all that much. I'm not sure if I can tell you what the premise is here, other than to take these old-school Marvel Monsters(Fin Fang Foom, Googam, Elektro, Gorgilla), put them in a group, and let hilarity ensue. Except without the hilarity.

Honestly, it's hard for me to review comics that I don't like. I really just can't muster up the effort. Suffice to say, I definately wouldn't have bought this if it were on the rack.

I'm still waiting for an intelligent response from you...

Now THAT's kidding myself...

:yay:

She-Hulk was really good IMO. Marvel has really been showcasing the Winter Guard lately, first Hulk, than IronMan, now She-Hulk. She-Hulk bringing the Liberators back together, makes me feel like they were succesful against Rulk.

I'd like to know why Valkyrie is running around with the Liberators, when Thor pretty much restricted the Asgardians to Asgard (with occasional visits to the Broxton neighborhood)?

It doesn't help that Thor runs slow though. Where is the current issue of Thor actually take place?

I'm still waiting for an intelligent response from you...

I save my intelligent responses for people who know the differences between criticism and apologia. Protip: your posts on OMD/BND constitute the latter.

But good job jumping right to the personal insults, confirming pretty much everything I ""know"" or ""judge"" (Protip: I also save my intelligent responses for people who know how to use scarequotes correctly) about you.

F^%#^%#&k you're slow...

:csad:

hey Bill, you remind me of Conor Oberst from Bright Eyes. please tell me you play an instrument.

A few quick thoughts:

GoG 7: while I love this comic, this issue had problems. First the good. Loved seeing groot in action again. That's one cool tree. Bug and his one liner was nice to see. Loving their using so many villanous characters/races/groups/threats at a time. Great to see the badoon, they're a pretty nasty race. Now the bad. Heather? I like that some of the cosmic types are coming back, but it seems like they're bringing too much back. Moondragon's not needed here, it's too much. The Starhawk thing feels too much like the exiles plot, I half expect them to pop up suddenly. Why does racoon feel over his head suddenly? He's a master strategist, he should whine less.

Batman RIP finish: This isn't as bad as the haters feel but it's not as good or brilliant (people need to use that word more carefully) as the fanboys feel. The storyline is recycled in so many ways. The dialogue is good and the story itself isn't bad it's just so overused. Felt like too many coincidences happened here. The need to relate any batman story to the past is just getting silly. Hush, Zantanna, etc. how about have something involving the present just to change stuff up? Once again batman has a plan for every situation which as almost always is the case, just felt lazy. You want an original storyline that's never been done before? How about this? Batman comes up against a problem he doesn't have a plan for or get's outsmarted for once. It would be nice to see him be human, just for the change of pace. Still it sets up for the gaiman story which should be cool. Is this the batman OMD? Kind of, the comparisons are valid, but this isn't nearly as terrible.

Deadpool 4: I'm late, I know. But this was fun, I loved the chair lines. I loved how sick he was of skrulls on TV (it resonated with me). Feels like filler before Dark Reign and Deadpool vs. Osborn, but it was fun filler so I'm cool with it.

ASM 578 (flipped through in store): recycled concepts is the new in BND. The model thing made me groan. Shocker was cool to see. The end was cute but JJJS looked far younger than JJJJ. Also if JJJ was JJJJ this whole time, he would have been called that. Having the same name was a stupid idea.

Cap 44: Great fight scene. I'm liking the chinese supergenius thing. Lot's of backstory and setup. Not as good as previous issues so far, but that could change depending on what the scientist's deal is.

Herc 123: not enough herc in this, but I'm liking the hera thing. It's still the book I look forward to the most every month.

Avengers/Invaders 6: I don't care what anyone else thinks, I've throughly enjoyed each issue. The Human Torch thing was great (loved seeing the sentry getting schooled). I like how they're opening the question about the LMDs. I also like how they didn't make this a standard stupid time travel thing but based on the grief people felt over the loss of captian america and wanting "real" heroes once again.

Thought

Faves in bold.

Umbrella Academy - Number 5 grows up to be Rambo.

Thor: Man of War - So I guess Thor had to learn the humility lesson multiple times...

Wolverine: First Class - Never read this book before...Shang Chi on the cover is what caught my eye. That and Van Lente and Portella, who were the creative team on Modok's 11 which I enjoyed. If they are the regular creative team I may actually start reading this...(another Wolverine book):o

Hulk #8 - pretty decent. Great art and the stories are pretty good as well. Big improvement from the last storyline.

Skaar - Extremely good. The pieces are really starting to come together and Guice and Ron Garney kill it.

Incredible Herc - Also extremely good. Great art and awesome writing.

UMBRELLA ACADEMY: DALLAS #1: After what seems like forever, the next installment of Gerald Way & Gabriel Ba's quickly British superhero team unfolds and unlike END LEAGUE, this team has loads of character in it's characters. Of course, the tone is entirely different. This issue isn't as quicky as the debut issue of the last installment, but that is to be expected. The characters and their universe have already be introduced and this is a continuation of their story.

A quick fight in the past in the era of JFK against the Lincoln monument (which is a fun gag, although POWERPUFF GIRLS, DEXTER'S LABORATORY and SOUTH PARK have already done similar gags). The team is still reacting to the Apocalypse Suite last time around. Spaceboy appears to be sitting around with the munchies, gaining wait. The crazed Seance is on an all time high after saving the world and has a new dose of confidence. Rumor has lost her voice (and thus her power) and insists on her sister White Violine reliving the horror she wrought. Krakken is still out busting heads. And the time travelling Number Five is losing money on the track and dodging more soldiers from the Time Police. And the monkey is still dead, and quite cross about it.

Some could say that so far, it is typical of a sequel; it isn't fresh as it used to be, since there are expectations now, and it is trying to provide more of what the last story did. I disagree. I think UMBRELLA ACADEMY is a fun, quirky little superhero series and it is ten times better than a slew of Big Two books out there. Plus, it actually sells in the Top 100, which is amazing for a non-Whedon or Star Wars Dark Horse book. Ba's art is great and really helps nail down the look of the book here. I could easily see this as a quirky ADULT SWIM type series. Rumor "talking" via notepad is actually a more interesting vehicle than I imagined.

The last volume should be out on trade so if you're into superheroes and haven't given this a try, I recommend it. I mean, it beats buying HULK or something.

Why do you call them British? It's been a while since I read the last series but I don't recall them ever claiming that.

Also the "era of JFK" thing? So I guess JFK was president at a later date in UA's world...since that flashback was only 17 years ago. Or either UA itself is set in the past.

The creators are British. Therefore, they are probably British. I just get that vibe.

UA has a wonky universe, so maybe JFK made it out a little longer.
