Batman Begins The Batman Begins General Discussion Thread

I think Nolan would have called the film just Batman or probably also The Batman if he could have, The Dark Knight sounds much more like a sequel to Batman than to Batman Begins (Batman Begins does sound like or at least suggest prequel to previous/existing films series).
It's hard to realise it now that it's so instilled into film culture, but remember that the whole concept of total reboot pretty much started with Batman Begins, it didn't exist before. It was either remake, sequel or soft rebooted sequel.

I always thought Batman Begins was specifically Nolan’s idea. I’ve actually grown to love it; I agree it doesn’t fit alongside TDK and TDKR, but still a great title.

And I love the BB suit, it’s a classic; but imagine Bale in the Pattinson suit in Batman Begins. Keep the Tumbler tho lol.

Just saw that it’s the 21st anniversary of Bale’s casting. Crazy.

Really awesome retrospective series I stumbled upon on YouTube. Covers all three films’ production through release—

Nice video. Although… dude spent several minutes on the strength of the marketing (posters, teasers, trailers). But only a few seconds on the fact that the film underwhelmed at the BO. Seems like there should have been more analysis on why the marketing didn’t pay off.

I preordered the Keaton and West cowls McFarlane put up a month or so ago. No idea how they’re going to come out, but for 15 bucks a pop, it seemed too good to pass up.

Despite my issues with the TDK suit, I actually rather like the figure that I have from McFarlane, but I absolutely love the Begins suit, so this is a must buy.

Still waiting on them to do Ra’s.

In addition to the Begins suit, it looks like McFarlane is doing a Fear Toxin Batman and a Scarecrow in his suit and tie look.

Continuing lack of Ra’s makes me wonder if Neeson is a tough sell when it comes to likeness rights.

Picked up a Hot Wheels take on the Batman Forever Batmobile today, presumably to capitalize on that movie’s 30th anniversary, and I got to wondering if we might see anything like that for Begins (aside from the aforementioned McFarlane figures)…

Wow, Batman Begins at 20 years old.

I remember being 24 , and seeing the headlines about Christian Bale landing the part , and just shouting " Yes !" and being so happy given so many fans wanted him in the part.

I was 18, and had just graduated Highschool , the Summer Batman And Robin came out .

The lack of movement on another Batman film, over the next several years, was disheartening, as a fan .

Over that time I , like some other fans , went from wanting a Batman 5 ( due to my attachment to Keaton and Kilmer's tenure) , to excepting that starting over was best move ,and that the slate needed to be wiped clean.

When it finally became clear that the film would be A Reboot, Christian Bale was one of my top choices.

I was so thrilled when he was cast, and didn't doubt for a second , he would do a good job, and be a good Batman.

Deeply amused at the idea of WB coming to the conclusion that they need to start fresh after B&R, spending years trying to make a Year One project happen, and then bring it about in a slightly different form… only for this guy to immediately say “Wait wait wait… a YOUNG Batman?? Since when is Batman young??”

How did 25 year olds in the 1940s dress anyway?

Many happy returns to this absolute classic.

A gamechanger in both the superhero film genre and films as a whole.

IMO, BB has the best live action film depiction of Bruce/Batman to date.

My favorite comic book film of all time turns 20 today.

Batman Begins is 20 years old...and now Man of Steel, which I also love, came out 12 years ago...where in the world does time go?? It was no less strange when Batman Forever turned 25 back in 2020.

Anyway, Batman's fist breaking through the sunroof and pulling Falcone through it will never not be a great moment to me.

The passage of time is ****ing me up.

I mean, this doesn’t exactly feel like it was yesterday, but TWENTY years??
