Bought Thought October 3rd

Ah, so the annual's writer just decided to have Wolverine become a lot more willing to kill than usual. I guess that fits with the darker tone all of Marvel's comics seem to be taking. Everyone's a potential killer now, so the confirmed killers have to kill even more.

After reading the issue (which you should do, if you're going to comment on it), I wouldn't mind to continue to read Wolverine stories like that in a MAX book.

I forgot to mention on scene in which he hides under someone's bed all day, waiting for them to come home, before popping his claws through the bed as they lie down to go to sleep.

Nice :woot:

I'm not gonna buy it but nice.

But MAX is out of continuity where such stories should be in the first place.:o

I'm going to go pick up this annual. It sounds like its crazy enough to be worth it.

You just told me the major events in the issue. I commented on that.

Really, I don't care. Wolverine's one of the few characters who can kill to his heart's content. That's part of what the character's all about.

I think the Punisher MAX series is out of continuity.
If it's not, there are some serious continuity problems between it and PWJ. The MAX Punisher is still a Vietnam War veteran, meaning he's edging closer and closer to 60 every year. The artists on the book drew him looking pretty old when I was still reading it, too. The PWJ Punisher, who is in continuity, is clearly somewhere in the late 30s/early 40s area.

Do it. It's well written and well drawn.

Was Alias "out of continuity"? Is the Punisher "out of continuity"?

Alias is in continuity. Punisher MAX is in continuity, depending on who at Marvel you ask. The last time I saw it brought it up, Quesada confirmed that it is in fact, in full 616 continuity, and that it just shows a different side of Frank. Like Wolverine and Wolverine: Origins.

Yeah, like a whole different character.

I wonder how Joe Q intends to explain the difference between the MAX Punisher and the PWJ Punisher.

I'm sure he doesn't lose sleep over it, but they're not artistic interpretations. They're glaring continuity contradictions. The MAX Punisher and the PWJ Punisher aren't the same guy, unless people can now have two backstories. Maybe the MAX Punisher is the pre-Crisis Punisher. :)

Well, how do you explain Logan running around with a sword and his brown suit in one book, and his yellow suit in every other book? In one book his life's purpose is discovering his history and in every other book it's not a concern. Glaring continuity differences are a part of any comic book character appearing in more then one book.

Nothing's ever been the same since those dimension punches...

I just read this week's Detective. I don't see why everybody's so perplexed about the guy in the purple robe at the end. It was obviously Desaad.

Yeah, his limp-noodle hair totally gives him away.

That's just a guy doing different things in the present. That can easily be explained by him doing his Origins stuff on his personal time and everything else while he's with those respective teams. It gets a bit absurd every now and then with the sheer volume of his appearances, but it's not too bad.

The MAX and PWJ Punishers have two different backstories and are two different ages. That's a teensy bit harder to explain, don't you think?

He's shown up in several other comics over the past few months looking exactly the same, even.

Not really. Not if Marvel's taking steps to make it 616 continuity like they are.

How are they doing that?

Retracting dates from reprints or trades, and making steps to keep hard dates out of future issues.
