Bought Thought June 27, Sinestro is awesome

Punisher: War Journal's not been perfect, but I am still enjoying it's Punisher zaniness.

I've been finding Max Punisher so much better. I like my Punisher going after non-superheroes, going after the Mob and other real-life low-lives. Especially with this last storyline where we just have a bunch of flashbacks, while the current story drags at a snail pace, to be really bad. It's not as bad as Ghost Rider (especially that last issue that further deviates so quickly from whatever storyline Ghost Rider has to tie-in with World War Hulk) and Blade...but, if I was picky with my Marvel comics, it probably would be one of my top 5 regular series I'd drop.

Oh, and I forgot about Fantastic Four and Black Panther. I really am hating the "New" Fantastic Four. First, Johnny and Thing have been relegated as side kicks, and it's hard to believe that they are the senior members of the team. Second, I understand they want to let the reader know where these adventures fit it; but, by having both books tell the reader that the current adventure in the other book is already finished really takes away from the adventure. Third, it doesn't feel very "New" when Reed and Sue's adventures are just as prominent as the F4's. In fact, the last issue was more about Reed and Sue than about the New F4. This sure doesn't feel like a team, that's for sure.

Walking Dead seems like it's going to get back to some good action with the last page. (Kind of knew that was going to happen, though.)
I had this sinking feeling that Glenn was going to die all through this issue. He seems way too happy with Maggie, he got out of Woodbury way too easily compared to Rick and Michonne, he keeps disappearing on his own, and he's quit wearing his helmet. Things are going way too well for him and it seems like he's being set up to take a fall. I really hope he doesn't die anytime soon. I like Glenn. :(

I think Azzarello's Dr. 13 back-up story in Tales of the Unexpected is probably the best thing I've read this year. I loved every installment of it.

Best issues are boring. What's the worst issue you've read all year?

The first two issues, I was thinking it wasn't that good...but, then with the third issue, I got pulled in to what Azzerello was doing. It was one of the biggest surprises, that's for sure.

Technically not this year, but Marvel Adventures: Avengers #1 and that issue of Uncanny X-Men that kicked off Brubaker's run are the worst in recent memory.

It's gotta be that OYL issue of Robin where Batgirl first reappears for me. The Flash: Fastest Man Alive #1 comes in at a close second. Way to totally drain all of the excitement away from the return of the Flash, Bilson and DeMeo. :o

Nightwing was worse, killing any and all interest in Jason Todd.

I think the two issues after it have gotten worse and worse, myself. #1 was only the tip of the iceberg. The iceberg of suck.

Well...yes:O. But, okay see, anything Hippolyta has done can theoretically be salvaged via "mind control...REVEALED!!" which looks more and more like what they're actually and hilariously going to do (re: Granny Goodness). Even Amazons shooting down female fighter pilots in the throat can be variably explained with wartime morality and soldiers bravely dying for their cause and all that junk.

But showing an Amazon warrior slicing down an unarmed civilian and then killing his crying son in the first issue crossed the line of no return. That stood out as the single worst thing out of everything in this terrible series and its terrible counterpart, Wonder Emo by Picoult.

Eh, they could just say it was Circe, shapeshifted into an Amazon warrior. It'd help her cause by fueling the bloodlust of the other Amazons, after all. Of course, it probably would've made the Amazons most of us know balk, but remember, these are New Earth Amazons--72% more cruel than those silly post-CoIE Amazons.
