Uh...

220pxpowerrangersmoviepth2.jpg

What summer is that ? Never ? The 1st movie in 1995 made 66.4 WW. 2nd movie in 97 made 9.6 million WW. :whatever: I guess you're going to tell me now, they put Bay, and Spielberg together, they would have a Power Rangers movie, that would be a powerhouse like TF's ? Bay and Spielberg have all of a sudden become the Brad, and Angelina of the movie industry.

Weekend actuals are in. FF 2 $ 127,192,730 dom. $ 225,207,302 WW. TF's $ 224,009,583 dom. $ 370,486,446 WW. HP $ 139,715,157 dom. $ 332,715,157 WW ( after only 5 days ) :wow:

Spielberg's been sitting on the top of the movie industry long before anyone knew who either of those two were:huh:

I actually read highguard`s post.It made perfect sence, the FF franchise has been made for young kids. While the Spider-Man series kept its mature nature.Again, the FF has failed..and im wondering what "the suits" are thinking of now.

Unless FF2 can take attention away from Transformers and Harry Potter..i dont think a 3rd film will be made. Its sad that "the suits" can basically force what will be and what will not be in a film. The Comming Of Galactus could have been the best in comic book film history, but that will never happen now.

They were never going to do the coming of Galactus....they ended that with that Sid & Marty Croft, Sigmond and The Seamonsters ending they just gave this film. They had no intention of doing that. As Bill Paxton's character in Aliens says, "It's over,...game over man."

I think they will skate in at just under 300 million. By the way, I have to contend that Vile One's assertion that the reviews were universally terrible for FF2. There were a lot more positive ones than for the first and I can point you to quite a few of them whereas you'd be hard pressed to find the same number of positive ones for FF1. Even on the Ebert/Roeper show, it got one thumbs up from the guy (who's name escapes me) who actually knew comics, unlike Roeper. FF1 got a thumbs down from both reviewers.
I never said they were all universally terrible reviews

Both movies did open though with similarly terrible reviews. Which is a fact.

Talk about taking a post way out of context.

You said you wondered how long it would take to make a Power Rangers movie, and I corrected you in that there was already one made.

That's not saying a whole lot....

Wrong again, Sparky.

The review grid of Entertainment Weekly for the newest issue has it graded out as a C admittedly but there were some "B's" mixed in, as follows:

Denver Post: C
Toronto Globe & Mail: C+
San Francisco Chronicle: B
New York Daily News: B
USA Today: C
Philidelphia Inquirier: C
Salon.com: C
Entertainment Weeky: C
ET Reader Poll: B

Plus these various others:

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ent/movies/reviews/4864407.html

I just came up with those in a few minutes. You would not find that many reviews with grades of "B" for the first film. If anything, it shows that for the most part it grades out to average to slightly above average.

WHAT!!!!????? On wikipedia, they have FF2 budget at an estimate of 165,000,000 now and they wrote that Fox was disappointed in the income of this. Tell me this is not true?

Don't believe everything you read on the Wiki. Anyone can post something, doesn't mean it's true. :cwink:

I was woundering that myself, since i could not find an upcomming Power Rangers movie anywhere, but don't worry, if the studio execs smell a buck, it will be going. After the suscess, of TF's, they may smell a buck in robot battle movies. Soon we will be inidated with a buch of meanless movies of that kind. WB will give someone 265 million to make a Power Rangers movie.

Don't believe everything that is on wikipedia. Box Office Mojo, a trusted site, has the budget at 130 million.

This is a win-win situation. Worse case scenario if Fox doesn't do a third FF movie is Marvel Studios gets the rights back and does a superior reboot 7-10 years later.

So what if you have to wait an extra 5 years to see a Fantastic Four movie? It will be much better than the Fox versions.

If you include the marketing budget, that's the figure you would get. $130 million for the production plus $30-$35 million in marketing.

...and of course Fox is dissapointed.

I think this would be best case scenario. Good things happen to those who demonstrate patience.

Please do not put transformers in the same level with power rangers. Only people who doesn't know anything about transformers will think it's another power ranger show. I am a TF fans since a kid and I hated even just hearing the word power rangers, power rangers sucks big time- it is nothing compared to transformer. In fact, when the japanese tried to inject some power rangers element in a transformers show, the fans hated those shows. Spielberg saw the potential in the Transfomers, the story and the characters (Transformer is not popular only because of transforming robots but we love the characters and story-that's why we hate Gobots). Given a great story and FX, transformers can be the next "Star Wars." The movie has great FX but a mediocre story and still does very good. Hopefully, the sequel gets better writers. I'm sorry but Power Rangers is not salvageable.

And please don't blame the TF for the lacklaster performance of FF2. I enjoyed FF2 myself but I'm surprised why it didn't do well. I thought the first movie brought its downfall & needed more than cloudicus to redeem itself.

Wow the EW review grid with a few B's on it.

While the RT cream of the crop is a totally different story.

I don't consider an average rating of 4.5 out of 10 to be an average or ABOVE AVERAGE rating.

I like Fantastic Four but they're not m favorite comic/superhero characters. And neither is Transformers... but is there a particular reason why you think Fantastic Four is so much better than Transformers other than childhood bias?

That's easy to answer.....................................................no....

its interesting too, Superman was my favorite superhero but when SR came out in theaters, I didn't blame POTC3 for it not doing well. My father said people were so disappointed with SR that they all flock in POTC3. And I thought about it, and maybe his right. But i eventually have come into terms that SR wasn't a good movie, period. And thankgoodness TF save the day.
