True I don't have the exact quote. It was in a magazine I was reading while on the treadmill at the gym. I just remember the tone of it as it struck me at the time. There's no mistaking on that one though...it was disparraging. I remember that much. It was at best, poorly worded on his part.
However, I myself found an interview with Bird last night after we started all this. In it, he claims he never read any comics. So maybe I was too quick to judge him on not giving credit. BUT...it does seem so eerily familiar/coincindental , - the wedding scene, the underworlder, Jack Jack- (super skrull) to not be familiar with FF at all.
But again, let's state for the record, I'm maybe one of THE biggest Pixar fans. I loved the Incredibles. If I let myself, a twinge of bittersweet feelings creep in while I'm watching it. It's really nothing more than sour grapes on my part over how good a FF movie could have been too.
And again I'm not disparraging Ratatouille. It's not my favorite of their offerings. I think the voice casting choice for the loser human character was a bad one. Now that I know he was an artist from the bullpen it explains it. He was the weakest part and a character we should have cared about. I cared nothing for him.
Having said that, and strayed off a tangental rant for a moment, I've always appreciated the high road Pixar takes. And maybe it's easy to misinterpret the written word and derive different meanings from different sources. I just have my questions about Bird.
