Rise of the Silver Surfer BOX OFFICE Discussion

The rewatchability factor for TF will be huge for a lot of people methinks. There is so much going on--that people will want to go back for seconds and thirds to catch the many nuances. That will help it hold its own next weekend.

The last Harry Potter film will probably rake in over 1 billion dollars (internationally).
Personally Im upset that POTC is winning (really I am :csad: ) Hopefully transformers can probably get over 900 million but I doubt itll beat SM3 or POTC. And FF2 had no chance but I hope by the time its released in all major markets it can make more profit then the first

Ratatoiulle and Die Hard 4 are holding up great against Transformers - $ 10.25 mil and $ 6.085 mil respectively on Wednesday against TF's $ 28.96 mil.

I love sharks.....I'm just not into the 30ft kind....lol

I remember watching a filming of Jaws 3D, and theres a scene where 2 Dolphins are supposed to save the heros....they put the fully built shark in the water with the dolphins and they both went the opposite direction...fast........it was hysterical......they had to take the shark apart and get them use to the shark a piece at a time....lmao.......I've had a shark that I caught myself.....tastes much better that way....:cwink:

Whoah, you caught a shark, or is that some kind of analogy.:cwink: Man there is no way I would try catching one of those things.

I saw one trailing a fishing boat one time and when they went to pull it into the boat they found out it was still alive. They had to beat on its head a bit to finish it off.

Only time I have felt sorry for a Shark.

Well there you go...there's still plenty of money to be made yet.

1.4 million for ff 23% drop from previous Wednesday, not bad.

OK we may have 125 million by the end of the weekend guaranteed.

Sweeeeeeet!!

Well looks like TF will make a killing, can't beat Spiderman numbers unless it has huge legs but who knows how HP will bow.

Can a HP movie be beaten down by TF, I doubt it but it will be something to watch.

transformers was better than,ff2,spidey 3,shrek and pirates hope it beats all.

No, I caught it myself......about 9ft Silky....they don't get much larger than that.....

Die Hard is "holding up," but because of the overall weakness of its opening, it's still getting steamrolled.

Too bad.

Die Hard movies typically open weak. It's not a monster-grossing franchise.

It had a massive Saturday increase, the truth is if you compare other movies of DH4's type like MI-3,Bad Boys II and The second Bourne movie, the opening is a good one.......the colossal numbers are reserved for fantasy and comic book movies.

If you adjust the previous three for inflation, however... well, no surprise to see that they all did much better than this one currently is.

I'm not really surprised, mind you. It's been 12 years.

Why is Germany bold? The first movie made only 5 Mio and it starts one week after Transformers. I don't see a huge success here. :csad:

Maestro

Legs and TF do not belong in the same sentence. I'm still waiting for someone to tell me, after the fanboys get their fill, who will go see it to give it "legs". Kids ? Not after HP opens. Teens ? Not after HP opens. Women ? You have to be kidding. Families ? No. Males who had TF robots as kids ? Mabey. It does not have enough mass audience appeal to give it any kind of legs. Enjoy this weekend, after that, the train slows wayyyyyyyyyyyyy down. Don't make me laugh. TF is no threat to HP.

Not really.

DH1 would open to $11,652,351 if released today.
DH2 would open to $34,729,624.
DH3 would open to $34,338,743.

Why would anyone from Tennessee care about Transformers or HP for that matter.....they better things to do......like enjoy the outdoors..... lmao

It got an A- from 15,256 voters on Yahoo, currently has an 8.4 rating from 10,230 votes on IMDb, an A- grade from 837 voters on Box Office Mojo, and finally, a 4 1/2/5 star rating from 10,632 users on Facebook/Flixster. So, uh yeah, there's some mass appeal here.

Nah, Die Hard's doing really well. It's not nearly as expensive as the other major releases this summer and it's always tough bringing out a sequel 12 years after the last one. If Die Hard does, say, $ 110-120 mil domestic and twice that internationally (Die Hard With a Vengeance was much bigger overseas than domestically) that'll make it a major success.

And prob. 15,000 of those votes are fanboys, and 10,000 from fanboys. Give me a break. After this weekend the robots will be a distant memory. TF has an A- on Mojo. FF 2 has a B on Mojo. You can enjoy a movie, but have no desire to see it again.
