Rise of the Silver Surfer BOX OFFICE Discussion

So 285 is pretty much assured with Japan. Maybe we will stretch to 290+. 300 though I don't see it.

Too bad it won't hit 300 worldwide, it definitely deserved to do better.

The bad taste from the mediocre 1st film and the competition didn't help. Also the spread out international releases allowed piracy to effect it's overseas #'s quite a bit.

Domestic: $131,704,884 47.3%+ Foreign: $146,546,924 52.7%= Worldwide: $278,251,808

Stranger than that is the fact the DVD will be out the beginning of October. Kind of seems like they are saying, it doesn't matter now.

They said that when they stopped advertising after the opening day. You have the #1 movie in the country for a week, and you stop advertising....that pretty much told me they didn't care.

^Well that is Fox all over isnt it.

I watched this movie again last night and got so frustrated watching it, i enjoyed it, its not a bad movie, just an average one, but then i just thought, with a little more time and imagination, it just could have been SO MUCH MORE.

Please Fox dont make another, just let the rights go back to Marvel and let us get a good and memorable FF movie.

Truth is..................if Marvel gets this movie back.................I don't see this movie getting made for another 10 years! :o

That's BS cause I saw advertising for the film 20 days after it's release. They did not stop advertising after opening day.

There was not a commercial saying "#1 movie blah, blah, blah", which they did with the first movie. If you say there was....That is BS.:o A couple of TV spots is not advertising like it should have been advertised. In one of its largest BO regions for the first movie, for it to have none....NONE.....nothing on TV in the Houston area. An area BTW, where it stayed in the main theatres longer than anywhere else in the nation. Was STUPID......THAT is what is BS. Just because "you" saw it 20 days after release does not mean that it was advertised as it should have been. When its not being advertised in the 4th largest city in the nation, that is sad.

^^ Yeah very sad. Maybe they were angry with Memflix or the hardcore fans. Maybe they were like, oh well we got caught, if not for that Memflix dude we could have had another 20 million and they decided....... well, just let it go, we ff fans are too hard to please.

Guess that is what we get for wanting Galactus, for not accepting that this was as good as it gets.

But oh what could have been, what could have been......................

I'd say 5 years at the most IMO, A new Hulk is coming out just 5 years after the first one remember.

Nah............their slate is pretty much filmed for the next 7 years. Don't get my wrong, I hope they do make a movie within 3 years with the original cast, hopefully battling Annihulus in the Negative Zone, but with Cap, Thor, IM, BP, AntMan, Avengers, Luke Cage, Doctor Strange, and even the rumored Moon Knight tv show, I just don't see them rushing to make this movie.

^^ They can still make money, if this is as good as it gets I still want a part three.

Alba said you can't rush a movie like this, well ok, do it in 2009 for a 2010 release.

Fox made money on both these films, maybe not as much as they might have hoped but hey whose fault was that?

Just complete the trilogy with Tim Story and be done with it.

Yes there was. There absoloutely was...I saw it several times after the first weekend.

The movie's opening was the problem. It only opened to about 2mil more than the first. I'll tell you if the movie had opened to that 75 to 85mil alot of fans expected we would be talking about a third movie right now.

There will be a 3rd movie. No worries there. :woot:

We won't hear anything about it or SS until after the strike.....and there will probably be a strike at this point.....neither is on Fox's priority list, so don't look for either movie for awhile.
