Rise of the Silver Surfer BOX OFFICE Discussion

^^ hmm no numbers Carp? ......... hmm.... truly sad it is.

And still no news on FF3, maybe they are waiting for the DVD's performance.

Tranformers just grabbed a 2009 date, ignoring any strike talk.

Fox is running a lot of DVD ads it seems, from what I heard, personally I have not seen any.

FF #'s thru the 26th. Overseas #'s thru the 24th :

Domestic: $131,835,060 47.2%+ Foreign: $147,539,119 52.8%= Worldwide: $279,374,179

We're at 281+ right now. It's gonna struggle over 285. Still that's enough for a profit before DVD sales.

I've seen it once here....

Looks like it will fall well short of 300 Million worldwide.I was wrong with estimation of the final total.:O

I predict we are going to see some high DVD sales. I think the overcrowded summer along with bad planning on Fox part of releasing competing films from it's own studio within 10 days of each other, spelled out a disaster for this film financially.

I predict it's going to outsell 1408, although 1408 might beat it in rentals.

We'll see if I'm right.

I was actually close to right........unfortunately....:csad:

FF #'s thru Thursday 9-27 :

Domestic: $131,838,769 47.2%+ Foreign: $147,539,119 52.8%= Worldwide: $279,377,888

Agree 100 %. Bad timing. Why the next one must be a fall, winter, or spring release. Not summer. Also bad 1st movie. If the 1st one had been as good as this one, I think the #'s would look a whole lot different. They blew it with the 1st movie. DVD sales I think will be brisk.

^^ The timing is a factor, as but that is not all they need to do and at this point if the flaws need to be repeated it means no one is home upstairs.

If they are going to move it out of middle of summer why not put it in early may or over the memorial weekend.

What do you guys think.

Thanksgiving or Christmas .....

I don't think Marvel has put out one of thier movies over the holidays, it would be interesting to see if it makes a difference.

FF should be Holiday film no doubt. Marvel hasn't ever released a film in December right? Elektra was January, Daredevil & GR were February, and Blade Trinity was October I think. Currently the DVD is at #8 right behind Transformers, and it's been the #1 Blue Ray title for a couple weeks.

Blade: Trinity was a December release.

So everyone thinks it should be the holidays, Christmas or thanksgiving, well ok. Well tomorrow is the DVD debut, lets hope it does really well.

Pray is a better four letter word IMO......

Yeah I could do that, but I think Rothman's association with the DVD negates all the prayers I might say.

He is like the fallen one, beyond redemption....... everything he touches is tainted....... Just kidding Tom, you are the one, gifted with great power, prophesied about....... the Anti.....

... I better stop ....I guess it aint so funny picking on Tom as it used to be.

Well I hope the DVD is number one today, saw the ad on heroes last night, also saw 1408, one will rule the other no doubt. FF should win the battle I think.

FF 2's #'s thru Oct. 1st :

Domestic: $131,882,397 47.2%+ Foreign: $147,539,119 52.8%= Worldwide: $279,421,516

The Foreign box office numbers are suppose to be 158 million which makes the worldwide total of 289.9 million. Use a calculator to add up the Foreign number on BOM.

And china still to come, .......hmm, but china is the home of the pirates and I am not speaking baseball so 1 million at best. So 290 million in the bag you think.

how do we find out how good it's doing on DVD sales?

I just keep checking amazon... Regular and special edition DVD versions are on the top 25 best DVD sellers.

Doesn't seem like blu-ray is doing all that good.
