I don't see this film making over 175 million. 200 will be a major struggle IMO and not very probable. Too much competition. Harry Potter a week later.

Spiderman 3's box office numbers are safe, but I believe everyone who is expecting a $200 million gross is heavily underestimating how fresh a nonsequel is and how visually amazing this film will be. Movie mogul (or whatever the heck that website is called) is tracking Transformers to rake $240mil. I think it'll do more. I keep saying it, and I'll say it again. Transformers will be in the top three this year for domestic B.O. gross.

Transformers second week, combined with the release of Harry Potter will be the ultimate test to it's legs and whether or not it'll pass the $300 million mark. Yesterday was the sixth full day of release if you count last Monday's screenings in with the first full day and it's over $150 million at this point.

For comparison, Fantastic Four made $69 million in it's first six days, and then went on to experience a massive second weekend drop at 65.5%. If Transformers can maintain a better pace than Fantastic Four, which isn't asking for very much, then it should cross the $300 million threshold, AND surpass pirates.

By now I think a lot of people are confident that it will hit the $300~ mark, to make $242~ in the first week alone is huge, added that even with a slow down the total will continue to creep up.

I think Transformers will have a lot of staying power. I saw it on Saturday and I loved it. I will definately be seeing it at least two more times on the big screen. It's one of those movies you just HAVE to see on a big screen. From what I've heard many people already have seen it multiple times or plan on seeing it again. That's why I think this movie will continue to rake in the money even when other anticipated summer movies debut.

I don't typically go to a movie twice. But i'm making that rare exception with Transformers...even my wife, who didn't think she'd like it, loved it!

HP will be huge, but the TF's studio is not going to pull TR out of theaters come July 11 because of HP. t:

TF will be in the theaters for at least 5 month, there's going to be highs and lows for TF during that time, but believe me it's gonna get 300D.

I agree....it will hit 300 mill. It'll remain in theaters until late September.

I don't know guys. I work at a movie theater and while Transformers is really big, it is starting to fizzle already. The weekend wasn't really that big. I think it would make about 250 since it will have pretty good staying power, but I really don't think it will make over 300 mil domestically.

Harry Potter depending on if it is any good or not is really going to strip the buzz. At least initially, if Transformers can survive though, it will be hard to beat since there is really no other competition for a while in the action market.

I didn't realize this movie's budget was only 150 mil. I'm even more impressed now.

According to showbizdata Sunday was underpredicted,instead of 19 it made 22,3 millions which gives a total of 155.1 millions!!!!

If the numbers are true it would have a 70 million weekend

Heck, I want ANY film to knock Titanic off the top. Even if it's the new Alvin and the Chipmunks movie.
