Transformers Box Office Thread

Good to hear, it may not break records but it'll make a whole lotta [/b]mojo[/b]!

Jw, pun intended?

It's pretty good, only 67% of what Pirates 3 made on it's 8pm Thursday night preview though.

Pushing it aside just like that? Lmaol.

POTC had a couple of movies to gain it's audience. Transformers is NEW.

So for a brand new franchise to get 67% of that is fcking amazing man.

Sequels are typically front loaded, new franchises typically start off and then continue with legs.

Transformers isn't a sequel...infact I think it's the only NON sequel this summer. I don't count Zombies Halloween either, since it's a remake...re-imaging, whatever, same thing.

So, being an original movie opening to 67% of what Pirates brought in is pretty good IMHO.

I think they should've advertised the Monday showings more. My cousin thought it wasn't coming out till the 4th.

The legs will be amazing. Expect an incredible week at the b.o.

Especially due to the crowd reports- every single crowd report is the same:

- Audience laughed at just the right moments and by laugh- I mean SERIOUSLY laugh out loud... louder than that for any comedy!
- All members of the audience got fangasms at just the right moments and to an intense degree.
- The audience was quiet and connected to the characters at just the right moments.
- Not one negative comment on the way out.
- Applause at the end.

BOM's estimates put it at 8.1M. Good, but not spectacular.

No its spectacular.

when it was a Monday and many many people i talked to thought the premier was tonight the 3rd. Not Monday night.

Considering only 2 showing times basically with theaters having the rat movie also just having launched.

No one pre screens movies on monday. no one.

This movie is going to clear 200m by the end of this weekend.

This movie is going to clear 200m by the end of this weekend.

Say what? That is just a little to optimistic. Fantastic movie, but 200m so fast? I highly doubt it.

The movie is doing very well overseas so far. Already up to $36,253,961 and it has yet to be released in many key areas.

see ita, i told you it was 9 million ;) i am looking at todays numbers...its head for an additional 28 million or so thus far in tuesday could go even higher!

I went 30 minutes early, and the entire theater was full before a single preview even started. Some people couldn't get seats so they left for another time. Everyone was laughing out loud, there was one guy below me who was just laughing like a maniac. And when it ended and the credits played, everyone gave a standing ovation, myself included.

$13.1 million for it's opening weekend in South Korea. :wow:

This film is going to be huge in Asia.

Remember: $300m mark :woot:

It should make good money, it was a good movie.

I say 80 for the weekend alone. :ninja:

Exactly dude. Exactly.

I don't see how this movie can't have great legs.

I am someone who usually sees a movie more than once, sometimes two or three times depending... and Transformers is the first movie in a LONG TIME to get an applause or standing ovation at the end going on two for two now. Usually it's only one of those times that I experience something like that happening, but 2-2 so far?! Wow that's great, going again tomorrow night again after work (I'm addicted to this movie!!!) and I'm figuring it will be 3-3.

Huge. If I don't see it tomorrow, I'll have to check it out on the weekend. Everybody I know who saw it today loved it.

I think alot of ppl who have seen this will see it again because thats the general consensus; everybody who sees this wants to immediatly see it again !
I think thats whats going to give this film legs.
And its that reason right there that ppl are or have forgotten about Harry Potter.

unfortunately, the films legs will be terrible. the word of mouth is great...but the only repeat viewers will be the die hard fans (who are the cause of huge word of mouth at the moment as is) because of long the film is, and that harry potter opens next week.

crowd reports looking good...and the numbers look to be monsterous....the pta seems to be between 7 and 8 k.

i would say theres no way it has less than 30 million heading into july 4th. I would PREDICT...26 million tuesday, which along with the 8 million from monday, would give it a grand 34 million heading into july 4th weekend.
