Transformers Box Office Thread

Looks like Transformers is going to hit $250 by the end of this Friday's gross.

Transformers needs to have a phenomenal week and 3rd weekend hold or my "beat out Pirates" prediction will likely not come true. It'll still beat Potter, though. That I have no doubt about.:cwink:

Like I've been saying, it's hard to do a day to day comparison because of TF release date but after 13 days:

Transformers - $223 Million
Spider-Man 3 - $250 Million
Shrek the Third - $224 Million
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End - $229 Million

Remember, Shrek 3 came to surpass AWE domestically and right now it's only $1 Million difference between TF and Shrek 3.

Potter is going to crush the transformers... guys it opened huge bigger then Spidey 2 tremendous Wednesday and Thursday numbers get ready for a huge weekend...that may have Potter out in front by the end of the weekend

BWAHAHAHAHA, BLIND FURY, CAN I GIVE THIS GUY YOUR NAME???:oldrazz::D JK WEADAZOID,:oldrazz: SERIOUSLY THOUGH THAT IS AN AWESOME HOLD, WAY TO GO TF!!!:up::D:up:

wow; nice call. it is doing 300 million. Hopefully it beayts Pirates 3 for the 3rd spot of the year!

Potters not catching tf. Least not in the u.s.

Just saw potter, very bland, ok action...story was probably the weakest of the series. Felt more like a TV show than a movie. I can see this movie finishing about 260-270 mil domestic...(that's taking into consideration that they have the IMAX b.o. too)

Going to see TF for the 4th time this week....heehee I keep finding new stuff everytime I go...I'm waiting for them to announce them releasing this puppy to IMAX after potter is done....I got my wish on :) I would guarantee another 30-40 mil added to the kitty if they did that....all the die hards would see it again on the "mega" screen.

Nowadays, a 50% drop is actually not bad...

GO TRANSFORMERS!!!

I had hoped for a 400 mil , but 300 will do just fine :cwink:
Still i would say that this summer has been quite good in terms of BO.
Even tough the big 3quels "underperformed" , that was more to do with the competition then the quality.

Despite that all of them hit 300 million and TF is trailing behind.
Has this ever happened , that in a movie year 4 movies hit the 300 million mark

Edit :
I think this has never happened before. In 2003 there were 3 movies that hit 300 million ( ROTK , Finding Nemo & POTC 1).
If TF manages to hit 300 million this will be a record

Considering it's going to hit $250 in like 5 days?

I've said already that TF is going to do around 280-320 mil domestically. It's a given. Come next Sunday TF should earn between 35-45 mil. Now I'm not as good at pinpointing and actual amount like some othetrs but i've never been wrong on rounded out where a film will land except one time and that was for F4 ROTSS, which I pegged between 160-180 mil domestically.

I also thought Fantastic Four 2 would be in that same range. I was suprised at first that it didn't open up bigger, but then again I guess when the first movie in a franchise is generally not liked much, and the second isn't all that different from the first - expecting different, or better, results is asking for a miracle.

Along those same lines, I don't think Transformer's 2 can be as successful as 1 without clearly being a better movie. I really enjoyed 1, but the next movie cannot ride the wave of special effects the first one is doing. It will need much better character development, a more epic battle between Prime and Megatron, and a few new Transformers.

so TF performed better in its opening week than Potter by about 13-14 million, right?

Par's "Transformers" continued to exceed expectations with solid traction outside the United States, landing $35.9 million at 3,793 playdates in 33 territories -- including a foreign launch record in China of $12.6 million over its first five days.

"Transformers" remained respectable in its third South Korean frame with a 47% decline to $5.7 million, boosting the market's cume to $38 million. The Michael Bay vehicle -- which has yet to open in France, Germany, Japan, Mexico and the U.K. -- has already hit $146.4 million overseas .

actually all it needs to do just as well if not better is more of the same...
ppl come out of the movie happy as hell...
they talk about the fights...the cg...and shia

what did everyone come out of FF talking about? how bored they were?
same goes for Superman Returns...

I honestly hope that they elevate the story next time..but even if it's more of the same...
it's a crowed pleaser

so TF performed better in its opening week than Potter by about 13-14 million, right?

For the first 5 days.

Harry Potter was $140 and TF was $133 but considering HP's 6 day is a Monday and TF was a Sunday, the 6 day total should swing towards TF of $155 since it's very unlikely that Potter can gross $15 on a non Holiday Monday.

No it won't. Potter's 6 day total won't match Transformer's 6 day total, and it'll be downhill from there. Potter, being the fifth sequel in it's franchise, is heavily front loaded like other sequels of this summer.

seems to me like it is going to be very close to the 6 day total

my dad saw HP today... I decided to see TF again, and I'll be seeing it again next week.

Domestic, Transformers could beat HP. But Worldwide, HP will win
