Transformers Box Office Thread

Saw it 4x, still loved it, but I still think Ratatouille (seen it 2x) and especially Bourne Ultimatum (seeing it the 2nd time this weekend) were better movies. Bay has enough of my dough, until the DVD of course.

It's gonna reach $300 mil today YAY!!, won't know 'till tom though.

Not today.

It should make around 3 million this weekend.

Well, looking at the daily estimates, it seems it will reach the $300 mil mark some time today (Fri).

The estimates :
Mon (Aug 6)-$934,830
Tues (Aug 7)-$828,059
Wed (Aug 8)-$755,664
Thurs (yesterday Aug 9)-$735,000 (estimated)
(with it's total at around $299,637,134)

If it makes at least $400,000 (we'll find out tomorrow), I'll be giddy.

Ok, well today. lol :hyper: It's been a long week for me over here.

3 mil sounds like such a small amount of money when talking about TF, but most of us will never see, and would kill, for half that much.

Absolutly incredible run...beats out both Knocked Up and 300 for breakout of the year...transformers 2=huge!

How does it beat 300? Didn't that movie make like a billion or something?

Not really...hasn't it been like a month since release?

Transformers 2 will be huge. I expect over 400 million
Its possible...it can be the next POTC...people in general really liked this movie.

If Transformers 2 makes more than $350 mil, that'll mean it's a BETTER movie than the first (better script & story). The potential to exceed $350, and reach $400 million will be there, especially after everyone who HASN'T seen this movie rents or buys it. DVD sales and rentals will be huge, especially since it'll be around the holidays.

Here's to hoping for a better sequel!

That's not necesserelly true(i would love to be better of course)

Look at Pirates 2...over a billion for a pretty crappy movie a lot worse then the first one.

And so was the second Matrix and the Star Wars prequels and so on...

Well you do have a point, and you may of course be right, but I don't think people are going to be as forgiving with this franchise when compared with many of the movies you just named.

A part of the reason I feel this way is because of how sequels have performed this year. The only few sequels at least as good or better than their predecesors (Borne, Potter, and Die Hard) have done favorably at the box office. But every other sequel this year - Spidey, Pirates, Shrek, Fantastic Four, Evan Almighty, Oceans Thirteen - have all done WORSE than their than their previous installments. Ironically, all of those films were either not as good or had previous movies that alot of people disliked (Pirates and Fantastic Four).

SO, my main point is people are getting sick of sequels that are cashing in on a franchise, rather than treating the audience to a GOOD movie.

Well i think you're right...but it's not set in stone,it can be either way depending on the movie ;)

Anyway TF has officially surpassed 300 $ :d

BOM estimates Friday: 935.000 $

Total:$300,569,000 :trans:

Why is no one celebrating. That is a huge, huge accomplishment in the summer of sequels.

Does anyone know what it's at Worldwide? That's the real important number. I always prefer Worldwide over just domestic, it shows the grand total of how much the film is making.
