Things are just not good. Ideally, this should open really well since there wasn't a huge movie after Barbenheimer. That Taylor Swift film isn't crossing the $300 mark million mark, worldwide anytime soon as an eXample.
Also for this to be opening lower than The Flash is bad, as I thought Marvel still has better audience interest than DC, especially Guardians really had great legs few months ago. I think Captain Marvel as a character, isn't just appealing enough. While the other two leads, are still unknown to most. But still Captain Marvel had a big solo movie in 2019 and appeared in Endgame. So there should have been more interest and demand than these numbers.
If I were Disney and Marvel Studios, I'd be worried for Captain America without Chris Evans, Thunderbolts and the reboots of Blade and 4. None of those are surefire hits and the fact they are being released without any traditional sequel for a popular MCU character inbetween, is a concern. I'm not sure if Deadpool's success would even help Captain America. With the last two (Blade and 4), being more important to succeed, as those are essentially featuring characters we haven't really seen in previous mcu films. Blade and 4 weren't huge as well at the boX office, is also another concern. Ideally their reboot should be the start of several films, but at this point, those two really need to do well to guarantee a 2nd film. If they were released in 2021, that would have been more possible but in 2025. I don't know what can Marvel Studios can do, to convince to watch those films and make them a huge success. Even if they are good movies, that won't guarantee people would suddenly show up in the ticket counter...
Also Captain Marvel 3 is pretty much dead, so this is bad.
