The Marvels Box Office Thread

It'll at least put the movie out of its misery with the embarrassingly dwindling box office returns, especially with Disney no longer reporting numbers. And at this point, people are going to be trained to wait for these movies to show up on streaming services anyway, if they aren't already.
Very few people actually watched this on Disney+, iirc. The general public just didn’t care about this movie.
Problem is that Sony is still going to keep releasing crap and most of the people I speak to (non-geeks) seem to think it’s all Marvel. So now they will think the years in between are outright terrible!
Kevin Feige said something similar a few years back. There are also big actors in Hollywood who weren’t aware of the difference. However, barely anybody watched those films besides Venom.

But I think the main issue is that the general public doesn’t care about Carol Danvers as character and it looked like just another generic MCU film (and it apparently was). The general public has gotten tired of the MCU formula; it’s bland and boring now.
Looking at the numbers that Ant-Man 3 and Guardians 3 got in North America, it is shocking how this one didn't even hit $150 million, let alone 9 digits.

I would have thought MCU would first miss the $100 million mark with a really bad movie but this is not even one of the worst Marvel movies ever made. If they gave us their Elektra, Morbius, Dark PhoeniX, Catwoman, okay but not even close.
The Marvels actually had worse Box Office legs than Dark Phoenix despite having much less competition than film and a similar CinemaScore. So the general public doesn’t agree with you. lol

I'll take Dark Phoenix over The Marvels, Brave New World, or Quantumania any day. Mainly because the characters are just better and more interesting in any medium

If there is any hope going forward for the MCU, it's that the classic characters are classic for a reason and if there was any doubt, there isn't any longer.

Give the people the characters they have chosen with their wallets (again and again) over the past 60 years and they'll generally show up if you put them in great stories. They won't settle for formulas like they used to.

Dark Phoenix is worse than those 3 films. Like Dark Phoenix is literally one of the worst Marvel movies ever. Mcu's worst movie isn't even close to the quality of Dark Phoenix.

It's not a great film, but far more interesting a watch simply because it stands outside the recent MCU downtrend. As I said, the characters are just superior in general to what we see in the Marvels, Quantumania, etc.

I understand they used Scott Lang because of Edgar Wright, but Hank is the more interesting character and I wish he got his shine with the Avengers. Never been a huge Scott fan.

Quantumania and The Marvels’ CinemaScore and Box Office legs disagree.

Dark Phoenix is one of the worst reviewed Marvel films ever. The fact you are using that film against the Mcu is not really a good argument.
