Brad Bird Directing Tomorrowland

I thought about that. Clooney is 54 and looks his age basically, but the Frank characters has to easily be in his 60s. So either Clooney is just playing older OR his aging slowed thanks to the formula shake mentioned by Nix in Tomorrowland.

I think it's because Clooney is still oddly boyish and still handsome as hell. His looks now is where he can still play the dad not the grandpa yet.

Meanwhile, Ford's looks has kinda melted away and that would to his character.

But if there's a formula shake then explains it I guess.

I think it's a case of him just looking younger than he is. He was a boy genius a la Dexter.

When JJ first turned down Star Wars, Kennedy went to Bird who was prepping Tomorrowland.

Marshall, Kennedy's husband, even offered to have Trevorrow prep Star Wars during it's pre-production so that Vird can jump right into principal photography, which is unheard of. I guess that way he can jump into Star Wars right away, then go back to Tomorrowland. I don't know really..it never made any sense.

Obviously Bird decided to stick with Tomorrowland while Trevorrow got Jurassic World thru Marshall.

That's why I think Trevorrow is a shoe-in for that Star Wars/Boba Fett spinoff due to all of this.

That's bizarre but you know... I wouldn't be surprised if this does happen more than we think. It's just the type of thing that people don't want to be revealed.

It depends on if JW is a hit. If there's a sequel, Trevorrow might do it and stick to his own franchise where he can do his own thing. While Bird might jump to Star Wars.

Or eventually, this could be a lose lose for the both of them.

Down to 49%. I'm guessing it's going to stop around 43%.

I have a few questions.
Was it shot in IMAX ?
Is it best to see it in that format?
A friend of mine has a nine year old daughter,
Will she be bored scared or confused if she watches this?
Its rated PG, do they push the boundaries of the rating ?
Is it REALLY PG?
Thanks!

My family and I just saw it.

We loved it as there are several strong sequences, exhilarating scenes to watch and gorgeous cinema to behold.

The only thing i didn't like was the fact that it explained nearly every scene like I was four years old. But I guess they are just trying to get little kids to the theatres. Take yours kids for a family night at the movies.

my kids are 16, 14 and 6 year old and ALL loved it
No one was scared at any moment
It's close to the old Disney movies like Race to Witch Mountain
see it in 2D

If you saw Journey or Journey 2 type films with your kids you'll love this.

I enjoyed it. Robertson played her part realistically and is pretty cute, Clooney played cynical curmudgeon well, and Athena...she probably was the show stealer. "We have simultaneous epidemics of obesity and starvation" was probably one of the more poignant yet funny lines.

I loved to scene of Frank and Athena arguing like a divorced couple. lol

I like Brad Bird and all, but nothing about the trailers makes me want to go see this when I can go see Mad Max. I'll be waiting for this one on Netflix.

I thought the trailers made the film look like fun, but I've just decided to wait for blu-ray.

I'm starting to think critics could have something against this film and its message i.e. the more optimistic views of the future and how it might be bashing the world of today. Or the movie sucks. But can Brad Bird really make a film this bad if we're going by the tomatometer?

I'm going to see this today at the Cinemark XD theater. Since I'm technically a student, I can get a ticket for less than $8 so I'm a go. I'm not really worried about the reviews cause I'm a terrible critic if anything, and I mean anything, looks beautiful .

So, it's lunch and a 1:10pm showing from the 5th row in front of an 87' screen. As long as it's visually impressive, I'm shallow enough to enjoy it. :woo: :cwink:

I saw it yesterday and thought it was fine. Not great.....didn't love it, but it was fine. Some of the cinematography was pretty good, but there was less of it than I expected. For a < than $8 ticket, I was cool with it.

Not great, but if you panned it, you're probably taking this sort of movie too seriously. There are nice visuals, it has moments of fun, and, for me, it was fun sitting in the theater watching a movie. Sometimes I think people need to learn how to relax and just allow themselves to have fun.

Saw it yesterday. I enjoyed it. Reminded me of both the 70s/80s live action Disney movies, and some of the stuff from the theme parks. It's perfect for kids, I think. And I loved Athena too. That kid was terrific.

I didn't find it overly preachy, as some of the reviews have been saying. I was wondering if I was supposed to feel guilty for liking The Walking Dead during a speech towards the end, but overall it was a good message. I thought the ending was great.

But it was very enjoyable. Nothing spectacular, but decent enough.

Are critics' problems with the film's directing or storytelling?

Good news.... thanks for sharing your thoughts

Critics having an agenda is nothing new. Neither is fanboys having one.
Which is why it's perplexing that we give power to the opinions of a few.
Bu yea, it's possible, but kinda odd considering the going tred is to 'hate' less than overtly optimistic stuff.

Oh lord, the "critics have an agenda" conspiracy theory.

That has to be it. I mean they gave Mad Max, a film with a bleak vision of the future nearly brilliant marks, so the only conclusion to be arrived is their anti-optimist agenda.
