Color me shocked that that little c*** has nothing pleasant to say about anything in the known universe. :o

Faraci voiced his thoughts last week too...

People in my timeline are seeing 2 movies I have seen and am embargoed on, one great and one bad.

terrible script. Awful script.

The reactions I'm reading are very similar to critics I spoke to at the Mad Max: Fury Road screening who had seen Tomorrowland.

The buzz for the film has sort died down to when the project was initially announced.

He enjoyed Mad Max and the Avengers.

Lindelof just pretty well near objectively sucks as a writer.

He loved Avengers 2 and Mad Max: Fury Road...
His loving a Marvel film isn't a shock. From here on out I don't think he'll ever not love a Marvel movie.

Moving on; I'm not surprised about these reviews, when Disney thinks that they have a very well reviewed film on their hands they release early reviews two, sometimes three weeks in advance.

I have no idea if I will dig the film or not but I'm leery of some of the things that I've read.

That's because he believes superheroes should not be serious. A stance he has modified I'm sure.

He took every opportunity possible to trash Daredevil.
Daredevil is not a film. Marvel will never make a film with Daredevil's tone. And that's fine, they have been uber successful doing their thing. As long as all action films don't have the Marvel tone I am fine with it.

I don't believe he's ever said that just that an uber-dour tone just calls more attention to the inherent silliness and is self defeating.

To be fair, he attacked Sawyer's biggest lover this side of that Mrs. Sawyer person.

Anyway the early reviews are disappointing but I'm still seeing the film and hope I enjoy it. I'm not hoping for the greatest film in the world nor do I ever put such expectations on any film but I hope I have a fun and entertaining viewing.

Personally,I don't need much.
A little optimism mixed with my science fiction.
Some inventive action setpieces.
Throw in some engaging performances and I am good .
Sounds like this film has all of that .
We shall see.

One of my fav critics, Drew McWeeny made a good point about the look of Tomorrowland itself. It explains why the design isn't wowing me.

And by far, the biggest disappointment is Tomorrowland itself. For all of the anticipation that the film tries to create around the place, it is a massive dud when we actually get there. There's nothing special or exciting about it, and there's no sense of wonder to it. You cannot spend an entire movie promising us this remarkable special place and then deliver something that looks like generic mall architecture. To make this film really pay off, you need to create a Tomorrowland that calls to us, that makes us wish it were real. For this film to live up to its promise, we need to believe that Tomorrowland is a better world than this one, and the film simply can't deliver on that.

I follow architecture blogs, and boy oh boy, I've seen train station and stadium designs with the same look as Tomorrowland. To be the point, where it comes off as generic.

Well damn, these reviews are disheartening. I'm still looking forward to seeing it, largely because the 6-minute IMAX preview proved to me that it still has plenty of that Brad Bird personality I love so much. But if the script really is the main problem, I'm glad his next film will be a return to a story and characters of his own invention.

I'm not gonna say anything about Damon until I've seen the film. But I'll just say I was looking at this film as the one last shot before he officially goes onto my screenwriter s*** list, and it's not sounding promising, lol.

Can't say I'm shocked as none of the trailers have looked that great, but like I said before I'll probably still see it because Bird has earned the benefit of the doubt. Based on trailers I've been torn on three films coming this summer, one is highly reviewed (Mad Max), another looks to be mixed (Tomrrowland), and the last one is a huge blank (Jurrassic World).

Damon L needs to stop.
I doubt Damon L. was responsible for the finished design elements that made it to film .
That having been said,
all I want from the actual Tomorrowland in the film is for it remind me of the original Disneyland attraction.
I LOVED that place .
