Any enterprising website write an easter egg article for Tomorrowland yet?

I may change my tune upon further viewings, but this 1st time I really didn't get why this is getting such crap reviews. It is a little clunky at parts, but to me it felt like one of those books you read as a kid, with a little bit of that Amblin, Goonies adventure vibe. The climax was a bit underwhelming, but I was very hooked throughout and it's not many movies that manage to end with such a benign statement that also feels clear and earned. Ich bin ein Tomorrowland liker.

FINALLY sat down to watch all the trailers, and I am beyond words, and not in a good way. How the hell did an "optimistic" Brad Bird-directed Disney movie have more violent and downer trailers than a flippin' Chris Nolan film?? (Yes, I'm talking about Interstellar, which I loved because its optimism and generally positive portrayal of scientist and non-scientist alike.)

Even the very premise of the trailers makes me mad - yes, I'm the very definition of optimistic scientist, but I don't think I'm BETTER or more special than anyone else because of it. It's not my job to save all the thankless cynical morons (read: non-scientists) kicking and screaming into the future, it's my job to inspire everyone to work together, using their own expertise to help as they can! I mean, I come from a family of scientists and engineers, with parents who once worked at a real-life Tomorrowland (Bell Labs), and sometimes we really ain't all that.

My boss at the cancer research lab actually hated The Incredibles for that reason - he thought it was Randian and I thought he was overreacting. (He grew up with parents who worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, so there's another scientist who disagrees with the notion that scientists are special snowflakes. :funny: ) But if the Randian stuff is really what Tomorrowland is about, that genius inventors have to be sequestered away from the meddling general population to save everyone's sorry ass, I can see where he's coming from.

Meh, might need to catch this on DVD or something. The premise, trailers, and reviews have really not inspired me to spend money on this.

wait how violent is it?
I sure wasn't expecting SWAT team shootouts or our heroes amputating human-looking robots in the third trailer, for one thing. :funny:

But it's robots, so that's why Mad Max gets an R and this movie can have a PG rating. :oldrazz: Sure, it's bloodless and thus supposedly "safe for the kiddies" but it's really not that optimistic....

This is the second movie(super8) I've seen get that sort of buzz. It does wonders for the film fans prior to release...also the second time I've seen it simply not deliver/do well.
Perhaps there's something in there for hollywood to takeaway.

reading reviews from the public its obvious IMO that the critics lowered the expectations.if this movie wouldnt have reviews or if they would be very posisitve everyone would expect more and you know what would happen.

movie is decent. 7/10 because i expected the worst. Lindelof will never change.

If this movie was meant to make me lose all hope and sugest I need to blow up disney and tommorrowland to make the world a better place, success!

Hilariously, my engineer/programmer husband hates Disneyland because of it's excess consumerism. :funny:

He'll probably love Escape from Tomorrow.

How can anyone hate Disneyland? There are mass murderers that like Disneyland.

I ain't paying 20 bucks for a goddamn soda, mayne. I'd rather just eat at the chinese place across from the Ramada Inn. Forget this movie.

How can anyone hate Disneyland? T.

I love Disneyland & Worlds, and most everything Disney.
I went to this movie completely open minded, knowing nothing about it except one trailer.
I'm the guy who completely spazed with joy upon seeing the reference to 1964 New York Corana-Park World's Fair, and the original It's a Small World ride and hummed along to the infamous song.
But this movie? It just dragged.
The "Feed the right wolf" mesage was great, but the overall theme honestly seemed to convey ....we need to blow up disney/tomorrowland to survive! :funny:
Maybe we do?
And the child robot drones and their army of tomorrow, all just popping out of the wheat field at the end???
Really came off as more bizarre and creepy, than hopeful.:wow:

He's a minimalist, an extreme introvert, and a highly sensitive person who hates noise and thinks most action movies are stupid and overwhelming to watch. (He walked out of Tron Legacy, electing to leave me in the theater and play with his iPhone in the lobby. :funny: ) He basically hates anywhere with crowds and lots of flash whiz bang. The Vegas strip and Universal CityWalk is undoubtedly the 9th circle of hell for him. Disneyland and Disney World would be even worse....

I was actually kind of shocked he loved Fury Road. All hail George Miller, who made a nearly-nonstop action movie that even my husband liked. :wow:

But yeah, basically to him, Disneyland can take its "optimism" and shove it up its own ass. :funny:

That's cause Miller actually knows how to make a non-stop action movie with proper composition shots and pacing.

Exactly. Miller understands mayhem needs to be dramatically earned. Most so called directors bank on empty mayhem without the proper setup, which turns away people like Mr. Anita.

Fixed

That goes without saying. You have to have belief in your understanding.

Does your husband have a favorite action film?
Has he liked anything from Disney?
