Brad Peyton Directing Lobo

See, DC seems to feel they can bring all their C and D-listers to the screen because frankly, there isn't a lot of baggage fanboys have compared to WW, Flash and the like. If they **** with it, no one is going to whine.

I think you have a point.

WB has not had any success with their A team - SR, GL - other than batman.

These films can maybe be done for under 150 million. They are B/C tier but so were Thor and Cap.

Given the expense of making Lobo compared to a Flash or WW, I can see where it will perform better - based on ROI.

Plus it's a cool concept. outer space and all. It could be bigger at the BO than Flash or WW. We'll see. It could turn into WB's IronMan.

Another C or D list character no one will care about. Warner/DC need to get their act together and make the Flash and WW movie. They should copy Marvel and release both in the in the same summer like IM/Hulk and Thor/CA.

Hell yeah, I've been waiting for a Lobo film! It's nice to see DC using characters other than the usual. I hope it is successful. If so, I also want to see Spectre and Deadman. DC desperately needs to popularize more of their characters. There are so many that have loads of potential.

I can't quite fathom how Hex cost that much.

I'm totally for this though, i've been saying it for ages. Not all superhero/comic book films need to be massive budgeted summer tent poles.

Lobo is the perfect tonic, much like what Deadpool could have been, in that it's not only a movie about an anti hero, the movie itself is an actual anti superhero movie. I think there is an audience for that kind of movie.

This is true.

I am curious if WB is going to consider Lobo it's DC tentpole for 2014. We don't know now.

If WB does then I would see this as a shift in strategy away from the A-list DC characters - Batman excepted - over the next few years.

It makes sense in a way seeing what Marvel has done.

Jonah Hex came out post Iron Man and Dark Knight. They gave it a new director from a hit movie (Horton Hears A Who) got two big stars with a lot of buzz at the time Josh Brolin and Megan Fox. And they made it a much bigger special FX action movie with bigger set pieces following that.

I've been waiting for this movie to happen since it was announced a few years back. Then nothing happened. I'm hoping for the best. Quite a change of directors since the last one was going to be Guy Ritchie.

Kevin Durand is my ultimate Lobo pick. The dude would just own as Lobo.

I hope the movie takes place in space quite a bit. Quite a bit of the comics have him in cantinas/bars causing mayhem. But who knows at this point. I thought this could be a CBM for Zach Snyder to do. :o

Soooooooooooo.... this is WB's response back to Marvel Studios... Lobo and Red Star movies.

Okay...

Positive: I like Lobo as a character, and I loved The Red Star (Trank directing).

Negative: Where in bloodly hell is Flash and/or Wonder Woman???!!!!!!!! :argh:

Director for Lobo is the fool that directed Journey 2. Seriously, WB, F**K YOU. :cmad:

Are you just trolling?

It doesn't make sense to do Lobo before Flash & WW. Only thing I can think is that the budget for Lobo will be pretty low and that's why they're in talks to make it. Maybe they plan on introducing Flash & WW through a JL film? I don't know. :o

I thought the idea of doing a live action Justice League film then spawning solo films off of it was a pretty cool.

No, it isn't. If they make Justice League? Sure, that could be a response to Avengers. Everything else is just WB making movies.

Perhaps... however, Red Star and Lobo before Flash and Wonder Woman?

I'm befuddled.

I suppose that's a legitimate reason, but DC's obscure titles haven't exactly brought in the dough.

Flash and Wonder Woman would be tentpoles and require giant budgets, a summer release date, and a ****load of marketing. They didn't say "What comic book movies are we gonna make this time? Lobo! That's more important than Flash!" These are just two movies they can film for cheap and release anytime during the year that happen to be based on comics.

And yet these two films could actually fund a Flash or Wonder Woman flick. Instead, we're getting two titles that'll either underperform or make WB a small profit.

So can you see why I'm a little pissed off?

no one believes that, but after rumblings of talk about a jl film, you'd think that'd be a priority.

I'm not sure what the budgets for these movies will be. I imagine they'll be low, especially with Trank being known for working a small budget. I doubt their budgets combined would equal more than half of a blockbuster budget.

But hey, fair enough, I don't think Lobo and Redstar can be compared to Flash and Wonder Woman. It seems to me like people wouldn't give it a second thought if Lobo didn't happen to be a comic character. WB releases movies all year long along with their tentpoles with small budgets and small grosses that nobody brings up.

Yeah, this smells like a Syfy Channel original quality film.

tbh one thing I did actually like about Journey 2 was the sets, especially the Nautilus, granted, the Nautilus should have been MUCH bigger, but the interior was damn cool looking, as was nemo's tomb. if peyton had anything to do with the creative decisions regarding set design he definitely as that in his favor.
