I think Brandon is a great actor and his height and manner really works well for Superman. But even he agrees that makeup and style made him look "wimpy" in his own words. He was actually really pissed off at the promotional photos and forced some changes for the film but was not entirely satisfied.
"To say that Brandon was livid with his make-up is an understatement," said an aide.
I always thought that most of the promotional photos made him look really pale with too much makeup and wierd eyeshadow. This might why people said he doesn't photograph well but looked fine in the film and in screen captures.
I'm glad to see even Brandon states that the producers and design crew didn't exactly know what they were doing to the legacy of Superman or have proper control over the look of Superman. My point is that even Brandon didn't agree with the direction they were going with the look and tried his best to improve things. I respect that, especially with the comments about Reeve in there.
Why does Superman even need makeup? The pictures of Brandon from event photos just as himself looked much better than anything in the film in my opinion. I photoshopped one awhile back from a publicity event. I don't know if you guys agree with me or not.
