I think Brandon is a great actor and his height and manner really works well for Superman. But even he agrees that makeup and style made him look "wimpy" in his own words. He was actually really pissed off at the promotional photos and forced some changes for the film but was not entirely satisfied.

"To say that Brandon was livid with his make-up is an understatement," said an aide.

I always thought that most of the promotional photos made him look really pale with too much makeup and wierd eyeshadow. This might why people said he doesn't photograph well but looked fine in the film and in screen captures.

I'm glad to see even Brandon states that the producers and design crew didn't exactly know what they were doing to the legacy of Superman or have proper control over the look of Superman. My point is that even Brandon didn't agree with the direction they were going with the look and tried his best to improve things. I respect that, especially with the comments about Reeve in there.

Why does Superman even need makeup? The pictures of Brandon from event photos just as himself looked much better than anything in the film in my opinion. I photoshopped one awhile back from a publicity event. I don't know if you guys agree with me or not.

I apologize if there was a previous thread because I didn't see it. I'm pretty sure this is true but yes, it's somewhat irrelevant because Brandon was frustrated and mad and forced them to change it in the end.

Glad to see him take some control of this film. And hey, this is a news story about events during the "making of Superman Returns". I think it's discussion worthy at least.

I don't think it is true. He doesn't seem like one to complain the way the article implies. I mean, I'd have to be pretty cynical to all of a sudden believe he did.

Maybe, he suggested something....and all of a sudden, it's something the media lies about.

For example, the Kevin Smith bashing SR news reported by Foxnews.com. IT WAS BULL ****. There was proof in the video itself that Smith wasn't attacking SR in any way.

This is SO horrible, I mean there is NO WAY Tobey, Bale or any self respecting man in Hollywood would actually wear make-up. I'm FURIOUS at this! Hell the women in hollywood don't even wear that much make-up. And this pansy is just bathing in it... Tom Welling should have been Superman cause he's a MAN!

I guess all you haters were right, Brandon was a HORRIBLE choice for Superman. And the movie is teh suck. :(

BTW, Seinfeld is PERFECT to direct, star and write the Superman sequel!

If you read the article, he's not complaining directly to the media. He complained in livid tones about the design and makeup crew about how they made him look initially as pale and unnatural next to Kate after he saw the original promotional photos. My point is that even Brandon didn't like what they were doing with the look of Superman and tried his best to improve it throughout the production process.

Oh okay.

Thing is, the last thread was titled....Superman throws a tantrum....or something. It sounded like bashing.

But, the way you put it Flare...yeah, I'd buy it. He did look a bit pale in some pics.....

There's a pic of him looking in a mirror or something (like it's a BTS scene) and they've got so much make-up on him, he looks like a porcelain doll, so yeah, I'd be livid too. Nothing wrong with speaking up about an injustice. Shows Routh cares for the big picture. Kidos to him!

On the other hand, the pic of him which is from a deleted scene where he's Superman but he has Clark's glasses on he looks very tan.

Not for Spare-Flaire!!! For Spare-Flaire it's yet another reason for why the CGI sucked in Superman Returns or why the movie sucks in general!

Just another example of posters revealing their own character by attempting to attack others.

Did you post the right article? Could you show me where in there he says he thinks the producers and design crew didn't know what they were doing to the legacy of Superman....? Hm, so, let me get this right...Revlon killed Superman?

I just want you to reread your posts outloud and attempt to, I don't know, for five seconds, actually think -- think, think, like when you make your brain actually work. Just five seconds...nothing more. Don't strain too much...come on, just, close your eyes now, and think about your posts.....

Are you crying yet?

Huh?
This was just for a photo shoot, not actually in the movie.Weeks after the film premiered in US.Its not about Superman ,its about himself looking..well..good.

Yeah, this had nothing to do with his appearance in the film, but was entirely about his make-up at a publicity thing. WTF, Why do people not actually read what they are talking about all the way through?

Becuase they're just looking to create facts, not find them.

You know what I think is worthy discussion?

The illiteracy rate in the world and how it contributes to idiotic posts that totally skew the "factual" evidence in a tabloid.

Wasn't this already posted in the "singer reacts" thread ?
Anyway so Routh threw a star tantrum,he just joins a long list of stars that have,no biggie IMO

Brandon has been famous for five minutes, and he's already got his taste of Typical Tabloid Behaviour.

So he complained about his make-up. Who doesn't complain? If he got annoyed - who doesn't get annoyed every so often?

This report is pure bull. Something like this would be a complete 180 character change from Brandon's usual personality.

What is this anyway? That photo is a bad manip as well.
