Rumor: Bravely Second Switches Tomahawk With Cowboy Job Class In The West. November 23, 2015 . 7:30am

A rumor from Destructoid has recently surfaced, showing that the “Tomahawk” job class from the Japanese version of Bravely Second has been replaced with a “Cowboy” class for the game’s release in the West.

Although Nintendo and Square Enix have yet to make any comment regarding the possible change, the image above is rumored to have originated at a Spanish store and gives us a look at the new appearance of the job class.

Note: the top image shows Amy, the Tomahawk Asterisk holder on the right, and Magnolia in what appears to be the changed “Cowboy” outfit. Here’s a look at the original image that gives us a better picture of the two for comparison:

Bravely Second’s Latest Trailer Goes Over Ballad Of The Three Cavaliers Demo. February 22, 2016 . 10:00am

In the new Bravely Second video, people can see what sorts of activities and jobs await in the demo.

[YT]Qn6OjrbgA5M[/YT]
Europe received the Bravely Second: End Layer demo on February 11, 2015, called Ballad of the Three Cavaliers. The up to 10 hour adventure offers an example of the Nintendo 3DS game’s gameplay. To help better educate people about what there is to see and do in the trial, Nintendo has released a video of five things people should make a point of doing while playing.

All five of the potential activities should seem familiar to people coming to Bravely Second from Bravely Default. The first suggestion is to check out the job system. The video shows Freelancer, Valkyrie, Wizard, Astrologian, Red Mage, and Exorcist as some of the ones available in the demo. It also suggests exploring the area, since Al-Khampis, the trial’s setting, isn’t immediately accessible in the full game. It also recommends rebuilding a village on the moon, this entry’s version of Norrende, completing sidequests, and taking on some bosses. (As with the Bravely Default demo, the village rebuilding progress carries over to the full game.)

Bravely Second: End Layer will be released in Europe on February 26, 2016. It will arrive in North America on April 15, 2016. The demo is immediately available in Europe.

Latest Bravely Second Trailer Goes Over The 1-Turn Victor Victory Streak. April 8, 2016 . 11:00am

The latest Bravely Second trailer goes over battle tactics, in particular the ability to kick off a Victory Streak for extra post-battle bonuses if you’re a repeated 1-Turn Victor.

16 Thoughts Read >

[YT]xAsfoDIvHjI[/YT]

Nintendo has shared a new video going over Bravely Second: End Layer’s battle system. Being to wipe out a round of basic enemies in one turn isn’t uncommon in JRPGs, and Bravely Second has a system that rewards parties capable of doing so.

If you are a 1-Turn Victor and defeat all foes in a single turn, you’ll have an option to go through additional fights, earning bonus multipliers for maintaining a successful Victory Streak. This is an all-or-nothing feature, as losing a fight causes you to lose all accumulated bonuses. Brave Points spent in one consecutive battle will not be immediately restored at the outset of the next.

The video also goes over the auto-battle function, custom special moves, and summoning heroes you’ve acquired via StreetPassing. Auto-battle can be enabled in Bravely Second to speed up the process. When someone chooses this option, they can repeat previous commands or choose from three different, established movesets. Custom special moves, which you can use after performing certain actions in battle, can have effects and catchphrases altered. As for StreetPassing, it’s possible to pull other people’s characters in for a single attack, as in the original Bravely Default.

Bravely Second: End Layer will come to the Nintendo 3DS in North America on April 15, 2016.

Getting Started With Bravely Second’s First Three Jobs. April 13, 2016 . 1:30pm

The Charioteer, Freelancer, and Wizard classes are the first three you’ll get to use in Bravely Second, and each one sets you off on a strong start.

6 Thoughts Read >

The Bravely series takes many cues from the original Final Fantasy games. In particular, the job class forces people to think strategically about what role each character will play in your party and what kind of builds you should put together. While the Bravely Second: Ballad of the Three Cavaliers helped introduce people to the Astrologer, Freelancer, Red Mage, Valkyrie, and Wizard jobs, that isn’t super helpful when kicking off the full version of Bravely Second: End Layer. Of those five, only two are ready to use from the start of the game.

As is common to the series, everyone starts Bravely Second with the Freelancer job. It’s very versatile and honestly? I recommend keeping at least one party member a Freelancer for as long as possible. While it is the Jack of all trades and master of none, it also has many abilities that are remain beneficial throughout the entire game. Some of these are actually different than the abilities from the first game, especially since you can customize the enemy encounter rate outside of battle and don’t need Lure Enemy.

To make things easier, here’s a list of the abilities and the job level at which they’re learned.

  • Level 1: Examine lets you see enemy information.
  • Level 2: Halfsies lets you split a single use item among all members at 50% potency.
  • Level 3: Divining Rod shows the number of unopened treasure chests in an area.
  • Level 4: Dungeon Master keeps the whole party from suffering from damage and status effects caused by dungeon terrain and traps.
  • Level 5: Stand Ground gives a character a 75% chance of surviving a deadly attack with one HP.
  • Level 6: Physical defense is raised by 20%.
  • Level 7: Waste Not gives you a 50% chance of not consuming a used item.
  • Level 8: JP Up lets you earn 1.2x job points after each battle.
  • Level 9: Square One removes all positive and negative status effects.
  • Level 10: Mimic lets you repeat the same action you or an ally made without consuming health, magic points, brave points, pg, or items.
Freelancer’s basically your first class to act as a healer, since the first two Asterisks you earn are Wizard and Charioteer. It’s lost a few support abilities in the transition from Bravely Default to Bravely Second, since Endure, Flee, and Poison Immunity are gone, but getting Stand Ground earlier makes a big difference.

I kept Edea as my starter Freelancer and managed to level up that class to four without leaving Eternia’s Central Command, one of the first dungeons. I’d recommend at least trying to unlock the Waste Not ability, as it’ll make someone a great impromptu healer. But, don’t feel pressured to keep someone a Freelancer full-time if other jobs tempt you. As long as one character has Examine, Halfsies, Divining Rod, and Dungeon Master, your party will be in a good place.

The Wizard is the first job you’ll actually get in Bravely Second, and it’s a pretty handy class to have. It allows you to use elemental spirit magic like Heat, Frost, Lightning, Tornado, Soil, Shining, Shadow, and Spirit. Since you’re in the frigid Eternia, you’ll find Heat works really well against quite a few enemies. Spellcraft allows you to enhance the Spirit Magic with additional effects like Dart and Needle. This is optional and using it causes an attack to use two Brave Points instead of just one.

So, here are the first few Bravely Second Wizard abilities.

  • Level 1: Spirit Magic lets you use the Frost, Heat, Lightning, Shadow, Shining, Soil, Spirit, and Tornado spells, provided you’ve purchased the scrolls from a magic shop.
  • Level 2: Spellcraft level 1 lets you add a dart or needle effect to Spirit Magic.
  • Level 3: Damage Dispersion disperses 15% of the damage from an attack that would normally only hit that one character and sends it to the other party members. The character takes the other 85%.
  • Level 4: Spellcraft level 2 lets you add the hammer and mist effect when using the spellcraft ability.
  • Level 5: You get to access the spellcraft command when the ability is equipped and the character has another job set.
  • Level 6: Spellcraft level 3 lets a character use the blast and wall effects.
  • Level 7: Absorb magic damage lets you recover health from 25% of the damage from a magic attack.
  • Level 8: Full Charge doubles magic attacks when the character’ MP is full.
  • Level 9: Spellcraft level 4 gives you the arrow and rain effects.
  • Level 10: Ventriloquism lets that character’s spellcraft affect all magic cast by allies that turn.

Think of Bravely Second’s Wizard as being very similar to the Black Mage, but supercharged. The magical attacks have the potential to be incredibly powerful, but the Wizard won’t be able to act as often as a Black Mage would. The ability to also make normally offensive spells defensive is a nice perk, though. I’ve found it’s a great class for early bosses, especially since your fight against the Bella, the Wizard asterisk holder, sees her using the wall spellcraft to deal damage to anyone who uses a physical attack on her once the defenses are up.

Since Yew begins with the greatest magical attack potential, I’d recommend making him your party’s Wizard. While it’s tempting to have more than one, I’d caution against it. They really eat up MP and BP, and it’s best to only have one of these heavy hitters in the party during the first few hours.

The Charioteer is the third class you’ll unlock in Bravely Second and frankly? It’s a wonderful training class. It’s good for dealing damage, especially at a point in the game where your characters might not be too exceptional yet, helps you raise their weapon proficiencies in battle, and is great for getting some early 1-Turn Victory Victor Streaks that will help you earn much needed experience and job points.

These are the Charioteer abilities you can learn at the outset of Bravely Second.

  • Level 1: Trample lets you do 0.75x to 1.5x damage, based on how close your health is to being full.
  • Level 2: Physical attack is raised by 20%.
  • Level 3: Triple Wield lets you equip a weapon to the character’s head slot, so they can deal three attacks each turn.
  • Level 4: Weapon Toss lets you throw a weapon for 7.0x damage. It may be retrieved at the end of battle or by using Retrieve Weapon.
  • Level 5: Born Warrior increases your weapon proficiency with your equipped weapon by one rank every time you use a regular attack for that battle.
  • Level 6: Retrieve Weapon lets you get back a thrown weapon.
  • Level 7: Wild Toss lets you throw a weapon to deal 4.0x damage to all enemies. As with Weapon Toss, it can be reclaimed with Retrieve Weapon or may be gotten back at the end of the battle.
  • Level 8: Master-at-arms raises arms proficiency for equipped weapons for the battle.
  • Level 9: Wanton Destruction randomly deals 6-16 hits at 0.25x damage each with your right-handed weapon to multiple targets.
  • Level 10: Quad Wield lets you equip a weapon to the body slot, allowing the character to have up to four weapons equipped for four attacks each turn.

The Charioteer is your main damage dealer starting out. They’ll deal a substantial amount of damage, more so than the Freelancer, and won’t use up BP or MP like the Wizard. The Weapon Toss and Wild Toss abilities are really nice, though you’ll probably have enough spare weapons lying around at the outset to have at least one Charioteer Triple Wielding.

Once I unlocked the Charioteer, I assigned the class to both Magnolia and Tiz. They’re pretty strong warrior candidates with their base stats, and that works well with the Charioteer’s tendencies. Also, you’re going to want to deal as much damage as you can early on. Having these two each Dual or Triple Wielding means you’ll probably start getting Victory Streaks regularly once they each reach level 12. I have Magnolia equipped with three weapons, and she’s pretty good about taking one enemy down on her own without needing to Brave and perform multiple attacks.

Basically, Bravely Second does a good job of giving you jobs that put you in a good starting position. It’s a little more challenging than Bravely Default was at the start, as the first game gave you the White Mage, Monk, and Black Mage classes at the outset. You need to strategize a bit more, since a healer isn’t around at the start and its best to save the magic user’s attacks for stronger enemies, but you’re given everything you need.

Bravely Second: End Layer will be released in on the Nintendo 3DS in North America on April 15, 2016. It is immediately available in Japan and Europe.

Bravely Second’s Job Options Overshadow Sidequests’ Difficult Decisions. April 18, 2016 . 1:30pm

Bravely Second’s Asterisk side-quests may mean to be provocative, but it seems like the reward could taint people’s responses.
168 comments Read >

Bravely Second: End Layer has 30 jobs. Except you aren’t exactly getting all of them handed to you as part of the storyline. Only the new jobs are acquired naturally as you play. You start with the Freelander, then eventually get new positions like the Wizard, Fencer, Bishop, Charioteer, and others from members of Kaiser Oblivion’s army. Positions from the previous game, however, are all obtained in side-quests from Bravely Default’s Asterisk holders.

It’s handled in an interesting way as well. After major story segments in Bravely Second, there are often blue sidequests highlighted on the map. These lead into a supplemental storyline following some of these other characters. Each one is on a plausible, opposite side of a situation that needs to be resolved with a decision Edea makes. You fight the person representing the side the group doesn’t choose, getting his or her Asterisk as a reward.

As an example, the first one is set around the Al-Khampis area. Water is at a premium, with multiple oases drying up. The Jackal is helping keep order around the remaining oasis, so people can still get water. Fiore DeRosa is a professor at the university researching a hypothetical power source that would make the water shortage issue inconsequential. Edea, Tiz, Yew, and Magnolia end up getting a legendary Water Gem that can solve either problem, but there’s only one.

It’s supposed to place people in a moral grey area decision, where neither answer is exactly right or wrong. People are supposed to feel conflicted no matter which choice they make, since the epilogues to these quests often help you realize either answer could have been right. The problem is, Bravely Second’s Asterisks don’t always let you side with your heart.

With the aforementioned Al-Khampis situation, I sided with Jackal. Partially, because it seemed like the right thing to do. DeRosa’s answer was experimental and hypothetical. If things went wrong, it could destroy a town. Using the Water Gem to revive the oases would offer an immediate, positive response to people in need. But mainly because the Red Mage Asterisk made more sense for my immediate needs. I had been over 10 levels above the recommended level for locations since coming to Al-Khampis. Money and equipment weren’t an issue. But getting MP Free in a Pinch, which would make spells free if a character’s health dropped below 20%, is an essential life skill for my Yew and Magnolia.

It’s a trend that’s only intensified the further I’ve progressed in Bravely Second. I sided with Erutus Profiteur over Holly Whyte not because I believed in his decision, but because the White Mage Asterisk was more appealing. I hate Ominas Crowe, but didn’t need the Black Mage Asterisk right away, which meant siding against Artemia. When I started the sidequest pitting Heinkel against Kikyo, I sped through it for that sweet, sweet Ninja Asterisk and its Dual Wield ability. (By the way, Dual Wield with Triple or Quad Wield is magic.)

What Bravely Second attempted to do is admirable. The idea of making someone think about what might really be right or wrong and be rewarded with an Asterisk is an interesting idea. In some situations, it might actually work. But the promise of getting certain abilities immediately over another trivializes things. Was a coeducational experience in Florem more important than schools separated by gender? I believe so. But, I really needed that Monk Asterisk for Tiz, so I had to be selfish. If you’d have been in that position, you would have done the same.

The Catmancer And Patissier Are A Winning Combination In Bravely Second. April 20, 2016 . 1:30pm

Bravely Second’s Catmancer and Patissier classes compliment each other very well. A character who’s mastered both jobs can offer a lot of support for a party.

20 comments Read >

With a JRPG like Bravely Second, it can be easy to put together builds for characters that rely on attack and defense. Choosing a character to act as a party’s cheerleader, however, can be a little trickier. This is someone who can be ready to buff a party like crazy or whittle down an opponent’s defense. Fortunately, two of the new jobs added to this installment focus on making a character a strong supporter. You can’t beat a character that’s maxed out the Catmancer and Patissier abilities.

Someone with both of these jobs maxed out is going to be one of your party’s best assets. An expensive asset, due to the cost of the items needed to make confections and get cats to do their bidding, sure, but a good ally all the same. The Catmancer/Patissier character is going to be focus on enfeebling enemies, but can also help allies or deal damage in a pinch.

You want to start by sticking with the Catmancer job for as long as possible and getting the supportive skills from enemies as quickly as possible. Get the Wing Scales ability from the Great Moths in Harena’s Miasma Woods in Chapter 1. Use this confuse ability to get White Wind from the Aero Lanterns in the Harena Seacaves. Later, you’ll need to wander around Ancheim’s Grand Mill Works until you run across an Iron Man II (B-Type). Use Wing Scales on it, and it’ll cast Panzerlied on your party. White Wind restores allies health equal to the user’s current health, while Panzerlied raises all allies’ physical attack by 25% for four turns. All other Catmancer attacks are damage-based, and it’s easy enough to collect them through light level grinding in the first three or four chapters.

Don’t worry about any of the Catmancer’s support skills for a character with a Catmancer/Patissier build, but know that getting and equipping Learning when you don’t have this job set is critical. You don’t want to miss a chance at getting an important ability. In particular, you want to get the Valtora’s Chomp, which has a 50% chance to reduce an enemy’s health to 1, the Bone Knight’s Mass Attack, which lets allies with less than 20% health join in your attack, and the Flare Lantern’s Book Burning, which deals fire magic damage and has a 50% chance of inflicting silence. All three of these enemies are in the Eisenberg region, with the Valtora and Flare Lantern in the field and the Bone Knight in Grapp Keep.

The Patissier is there to help with all status effects, and all you really want to do here is level the job up enough to earn the Status Ailment Amp, Glace, Items for All, and Prolong Enfeeble support abilities. Status Ailment Amp makes it 25% more likely you’ll inflict a status ailment, while Prolong Enfeeble makes status effects last twice as long. Items for All makes all Bon Appetit recipes and consumable items influence every ally or enemy. Plus, Glace makes helps with anyone using the Patissier as a healer, as it’ll double the effect of HP and MP restoring items.

The key with both of these jobs is to level up Fort-Lune’s Bioplant. It’ll begin producing cat and dessert-related materials. That means every once in a while, you’ll get some free items when visiting Fort-Lune, and you can also buy these items from the adventurer at save points.

Making one character both a Catmancer and Patissier will add a very strong ally to your party. Both jobs are great at weakening enemies, for a price. You can do a lot of good with someone that can make a mean cake or send a cat after an opponent.

Putting Together Good Offensive Builds For Bravely Second

By Jenni . April 22, 2016 . 1:30pmWith 30 jobs to choose from in Bravely Second, picking which ones to mix and match for strong physical and magical attackers can be quite a task.

Bravely Second can be an overwhelming game. You have 30 jobs to choose from, with each one having multiple active and passive skills that can aid a character in battle. Having all of this coming at you at once can be daunting. There’s so much information! All you really need to know is that you should probably have at least two characters as solid attackers, ready to assault any enemy that approaches the party. To help out with that, we’re going to go over some of the most helpful skills and combinations for attackers.

To start, I can’t stress the importance of having one character max out the Charioteer and Ninja jobs. I did that with Tiz in my game, because he’s naturally one of Bravely Second’s powerhouses. Here’s why this combination is so important. The Charioteer allows a character to eventually Triple or Quad Wield weapons. That means he or she could have weapons in the hand, head, and body slots. Normally, this means a drop in power to weapons in the left hand, head, and body spots. However, Dual Wield applies to all three of these extra positions. It means every weapon will be wielded at full power. That build also allows someone the Physical Attack 20% Up support skill, as well as the Frenetic Fighting skill that raises the maximum hit count from 16 to 32.

Personally, I’ve also added the Ranger job set to that version of Tiz and recommend it. He’s a Ninja with the Ranger’s Hunting job command added on. Having Bug, Plant, Beast, Aquatic, and Dragon Slayer on hand helps with almost every standard encounter. Targeting and Berserk come in handy for boss fights too, to make this superpowered force of nature even better. (As another plus, the Ninja version of Tiz looks a lot like Kakashi Hatake.)

The Fencer is a good early-level job for abilities you can continue to make use of throughout the game. I made Edea a Fencer right from the start, because Eye of the Wolf letting her begin in a the Wolf Stance that increases her physical and magical attack by 25% is great. I immediately have her launch into Wolf Fang, which deals 1.3x damage to one enemy and sends her into the Aurochs stance. Muscle Memory means she retained the 25% physical and magical attack boost for 10 turns, while gaining a 25% physical and magical defense boost. Adding on Stampede lets her have a 75% of counterattacking from the Aurochs stance. Combine that with the Ninja’s Dual Wield, and it’s an easy setup that could last a character for most of the game without much effort.

What’s really great for later in the game is a Dark Knight and Pirate combo. Again, I’d recommend Edea for this role. From the Pirate side, you want the Provoke command, to make enemies target that character, the Adrenaline Rush support ability that raises physical attack and defense by 50% for 5 turns when your health is below 20%. Since the Dark Knight deals more damage the less health it has, this works well with Adversity, which raises your physical and magical attack and physical and magical defense by 10% over three turns each time you suffer damage equal to 25% of your health. Add the Dark Knight’s Blaze of Glory as the final support touch, as it’s a support skill that deals 4x damage to all enemies once the character is knocked out. I’d recommend having the Pirate as the primary class, since it has a S-rank in strength.

Finally, let’s look at a possible magic build. I like combining the Red Mage and Wizard, with a hint of the Bishop’s support. The first thing I did was get my Yew to level 10 with the Bishop, so he could learn Brevity. This is one of the most helpful support skills for a mage, as it gives a 50% chance of Good Measure, where a single spell cast has the effect of the same spell cast twice. Then, he was a Red Mage until he learned MP Free in a Pinch at level 9, which makes all magic free once his health is below 20%. Finally, Yew became a Wizard. This allows him to use Spellcraft with the B/W Magic or Holy Magic fixed commands, as well as provided access to Absorb Magic Damage, which lets him recover health equal to 25% of the damage he takes from magical attacks. His spells are occasionally more powerful than usual, and he has the opportunity to constantly restore health and magic points.

Though, if someone wanted, they could also swap in the Red Mage’s Revival for Absorb Magic Damage. That would compensate for the extra Brave Point Spellcraft takes, as it has a 75% chance of raising the character’s BP by two if health goes below 20%. But really, this is about a personal preference. If you think a battle’s going to take a while, go with Revival. If there’ll be quicker scuffles, Absorb Magic Damage is a better pick.

But these are only suggestions. The great thing about Bravely Second is that it gives players plenty of options. You never know what conventional or unconventional combination could be an unprecedented success. And it’s always interesting to hear what is working for others and could be a handy path for someone to pursue.

Bravely Second Is Constantly Referencing Bravely Default. April 26, 2016 . 1:30pm

Bravely Second is constantly referencing and building on everything we experienced in Bravely Default.

105 comments Read >

Given that Bravely Second: End Layer is a direct sequel to Bravely Default: Flying Fairy, you expect the two have things in common. After all, Tiz and Edea, leading characters from the original game, are part of your party in Bravely Second. There’s a robust job system, with entirely new jobs and the ones from the previous entry bringing the count to 30. You even visit every major location from the first game in the second. However, there are some other parallels that appear in interesting ways.

Bravely Second begins where Bravely Default ended. In the first game, your journey began on the continent of Caldis, near Norende and Caldisla, and went to Harena, Florem, Eisen, and finally Eternia. With Bravely Second, you begin in Galthelatio, near Eternia and the Temple of Earth. While there were other, important places visited after Eternia in Bravely Default, it’s interesting to see Bravely Second kick things off adjacent to the empire that was once the primary antagonist.

The importance of advisors remains in Bravely Second. In Bravely Default, people were encouraged to turn to Airy, the Cryst-Fairy, for advice and insight. With the sequel, Agnes fills this roll. You can talk to her sometimes while exploring the world and often during important story segments. She’s there to remind you what to do or where to go next, as well as providing an occasional aside. Again, we have a non-intrusive means of keeping ourselves on the right track.

The inclusion of Cryst-Fairies and their role is important as well. In both games, they ally themselves with a powerful force they believe has the ability to change the world. Airy followed along the heroes in Bravely Default, in the hopes of helping them accomplish her goals. Here her sister, Anne, works with Kaiser Oblivion to fulfill another dream. They’re characters with powerful masters that drive each story forward.

Both Bravely Default and Bravely Second also have their extra job class. In the first game, people could fight Lester DeRosso at the end of the game to get the Vampire Asterisk. This Blue Mage class would allow someone to learn enemy skills and turn them back against foes. The Yokai class fills that role in Bravely Second, giving someone that extra, special job to work toward. While it doesn’t offer the same weapon proficiencies as the Vampire, the Yokai’s stats are superior. In each case, it’s a little something extra for people who want an optional extra punch.

There’s also the twist. Bravely Default set a precedent with a changing subtitle that would reflect the game’s big secret. Bravely Second does the same. In each case, something happens that completely changes your view of the game and it’s events. You get the opportunity to do something different, and it’s an awe-inspiring moment. I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but let’s just say that Bravely Second has an interesting New Game+.

It’s also about the little things. Minor players from Bravely Default will show up again in Bravely Second, usually in the side-quests that give you additional jobs. My favorite instance of this comes when you’re left to decide between the Performer and Pirate Asterisks. In the first game, you needed to meet the bard Arca Pellar’s students and get his baton to defeat Praline, holder of the Performer Asterisk.

Here, both Barbarossa the Pirate and Praline want the rights to an undiscovered Arca Pellar song. You decide who gets it, all the while experiencing references to the first game. During a tent scene, Tiz and Edea even recap the whole quest-line for Yew and Magnolia. It builds on an established history and continues it, allowing people who enjoy the series’ characters, environments, and lore to learn even more about this land and its people.

Honestly, that’s the best way to think of Bravely Second: End Layer. It’s taking everything you remember from Bravely Default and building on it. The characters, locations, world, and its history are constantly growing in this new adventure, taking what we know and somehow making it deeper and more interesting than it was before.

Going Through Bravely Second’s Post-End Game Content. May 4, 2016 . 1:30pm

Before you move on from Bravely Second, take one last look around the world.

Beating Bravely Second: End Layer isn’t the end of things. While it is possible to immediately start the prologue over in New Game+ and dimension hop, that’s only one option. (Though, make sure you do go through the prologue first, to make sure chests show up again!) There are actually a lot of things you can do in the game after beating the final boss and watching the credits roll. You don’t want to immediately move on to a replay or new game.

You’ll want to start with acquiring the Yokai Asterisk, if you haven’t already. It’s one of the last chapter six sidequests in Bravely Second. Remember Bravely Default’s Vampire Castle in Eternia? That’s where Yoko is waiting for the party. You definitely want to do this, since you can get up to level 11 in all other jobs after you earn it and level it up to level two, to get the Awakening support skill. As long as a character has Awakening equipped, they can unlock and reach level 11 in their other jobs. After earning the Yokai Asterisk, visiting the seven stone monuments will allow you to fight and defeat seven bosses that unlock the seven diabolism attacks.

Three more bonus dimension dungeons open up after beating the game, each one with multiple bosses. This means visiting Caldis, to head to a castle near Caldisla, the cave near Yulyana Woods on Yulyana, and the Eisen’s Mythril Mines. All of these places are fantastic spots to level grind, after you’ve gotten the Yokai Asterisk. You’ll have no trouble getting every job up to level 11 here.

You also get a chance to fight the Adventurer and her fox in one of these three dungeons. She waits with her furry friend within the Mythril Mines’ Dimension Cauldron bonus dungeon. She’s a very difficult fight, too! She can use Meteor and rain, has a Max Slash attack, and uses Falcon Claw. The fox restores her Brave Points and won’t hesitate to cast Blind or Dispel on your party. Worst of all, you have to fight the two of them twice. After winning once, the battle starts over again with both the Adventurer and fox restored to their original status, but your party exactly the way they were at the end of the previous battle.

This is also a good time to start getting buns from Ba’als with gold frames. These increase a character’s stats permanently by between one and three points. You need to have one character have Thief abilities set and make them use Prince of Thieves, the job’s level 11 ability. That has a 25% chance of stealing an extraordinarily rare item you could never typically get. Protect all Ba’als with gold frames, until you have someone with this ability and can start powering up characters.

Aside from battles, there are also some aesthetic options. If you don’t mind the Chompcart clicker minigame, you can head into there to earn more songs. You’ll actually be able to see plateaus for getting certain tracks. You can also find optional costumes that change character’s appearance in battle. Each one’s rather expensive (over 100,000pg), so they’re really there if you have no other way to spend your in-game money. There’s a lot to enjoy in Bravely Second. Make sure you explore as much as possible before heading away from this game.
