Brett Ratner Confirms DVD Double-Dip

just shows you how greedy fox is and how they just want to milk every last red cent out of fans... usually a special edition dvd wouldn't come out at least for sometime like x-men 1.5 came out right around the press for x2, i think that was ok .. but yea.. x3.. blah .. why do i want to watch an hour long special on how they fcked up one of my all time fav series .. n butchered the comics i read as a child .. forget it .. il lcatch it all on youtube or from other posters .. lol !

^^^ I like the way you put that:

"And here's where we reduced a 5 minute scene into a 30 second scene. It was boring, I got tired of it, next scene next scene, etc"

You guys act like Fox is the only studio to "double dip"

New Line Cinema with Lord of the Rings, anyone? Those movies are probably some of the most notorious for their double dipping (and now triple dipping with their latest release)

How about anything by George Lucas? Disney is pretty bad too.

Fox isn't the only movie studio to dick around movie fans with DVD releases, and X-Men fans are hardly some kind of target.

Well said Nell. I hate the double dipping complaint as if Fox is the only studio to do it. And ****, people are gonna buy them anyway so why complain.

Jeez.

Except with NewLine cinema it was understood that the special releases would be coming out 6 months later (and they did need time to make them considering they have footage of the release and award shows). Plus they were made available in a wider range of markets, not like here where Region 1 is being screwed over while everyone else gets the extended 2nd disc.

I can understand if people don't like the movie, but this whole "Fox is the Devil and must be stopped before they take over the world" mentality is just a bit extreme, and unfounded.

Other movies studios aren't the saviors of art that some people make them out to be, and Fox has released plenty of "artsy" films as well.

George Lucas and his "the original Star Wars doesn't exist" routine? I agree with that. But then again, I got my hands on the definitive release on laserdisc, so I can't complain. Oh and Star Wars is released by - you guessed it - FOX :)

And it's understood that Fox is releasing a "double dip" special edition of X-Men: The Last Stand as well...

But it doesn't change the fact that customers were upset with the regular version of Lord of the Rings being released at one point, and the extended being released at another point. I worked at Wherehouse Music for all 3 Lord of the Rings releases, and my mother is a huge fan of the books and films, so I had to hear it at work and away from work how people were upset with the way that was handled.

I also hear complaints about all the different Star Wars releases, about Disney releases, etc...

Fox is FAR from the only studio to double dip.

Star Wars, just as anything by Lucas, is handled by Lucas.

When most movie studios double-dip, they atleast have the courtesy to release both versions on the same day [99% of the time].

Fox double-dips months after the initial release, after everyone has already bought their barebone copies. I Robot, Day After Tomorrow, Man on Fire, and Mr. and Mrs. Smith are some recent examples...

A lot of studios are greedy and like to double-dip to get more money. It sucks when they stagger the releases, but why would they stop as long as people keep buying multiple copies? I'm just glad I knew about this before I picked up a copy on Oct. 3.

Some movies, yes... but there are a lot of movies that get double dipped well after the fact, that aren't released by Fox.

Not as many double-dip as Fox does. It's like a normal routine for them.

With a helping hand from FOX always ;).

As 4 Disney doing it they don't really double dip as much as hey get it now or you'll have to wait till it comes out of the F*ing Vault again :p. Besides it's been there gimmick for about 2 decades :).

and i should get this movie why?

Any X-tra feature is probably just more Wolverine :p.

Nothing new out of the ordinary or special except for maybe Rogue not being cured.

Other than that it's a Wolverine love fest with prob. some more Effects here and there. :D

So if you love him then it's a must 4 u. :)

In my case I wouldn't take it as a present. :o

I hate that Effing Vault. :p

Anyways, everyone will probably get this DVD as a present for me (birthday's the 4th) so I'm gonna have to give everyone a head's up that i don't want it.

lol, boy i dodged a bullet my b-day passed about 2 weeks ago.

It's hard trying to explain to your hispanic parents and family members who grew up in different times why you hate the final adaptation of your favorite comic book title. They just don't care really :p.

Besides i got Ultimate Avengers 2 and im getting the Bowen Gambit statue since my friend owes me and she promised. :).

So what are you saying? We're supposed to take it lying down. This an X-Men forum so the only one who can be held accountable for double dipping is Fox. Other studios double/tripple dipping tactics has nothing to do with this. People have every right to be angry i think. They're releasing the special edition set in overseas but not in the U.S.

What they're doing is wrong and it should be said.
