Brett Ratner Confirms DVD Double-Dip

I remember when these forums where a happy place. Now excuse me, I must feed Geofrey, my unicorn.

They have the ability to release more features for R1, as proven by the features that everyone else is getting. They choose not to. And that's what we're complaining about. If you don't get that then you're just defending the studio for the sake of defending it.

I have no spare energy to defend something I don't care about. I'm saying, whatever techniques they use is the way it is - you don't buy or you do.

But there will be a special edition coming out in Region 1 that will have all of those special features.

You may have to wait a bit longer (which sucks), but you aren't forced to buy this Region 1 DVD.

I'm not saying the studio's tactics are ideal. Regular and Special Editions should come out at the same time, if they are gonna be done. And the releases should happen everywhere, not just in particular countries, especially when this is an American movie and America isn't even getting the special features.

All I'm saying is, you aren't being forced to buy this original release. Fox isn't forcing money out of you. They may be handling the situation the wrong way, but A. they aren't the only ones to do it, it's a movie studio thing not a Fox thing, and B. you aren't being forced into anything.

America always gets a crappier deal with DVDs, mainly because most of the country is illegally downloading everything.

In other territories, where high-speed cable/broadband internet connections and, indeed, home computer ownership isn't as widespread, the DVD market is more flourishing.

I know rural places not far from my city that are only just getting high-speed internet and when i moved to the area i am in now, there was no cable connection available here. I work with people who use computers all day, but many of them don't have computers at home.

America is a victim of its own technology. That's why you get crappy DVDs and that's why poor-quality preview copies are sent out to the reviewers - because movies and clips are all over the internet in no time. Even those deleted scenes from X3 are already all over the internet. It's a wonder any retail stores survive in the US.

So what, FOX gets a couple more bucks... making money is what a company does. This doesn't affect any of you, so why complain? They aren't taking your money - it is you who decides to give it away.

Bingo. It's how I justified swallowing my pride and buying the *new* Star Wars DVDs...I felt like a total sucker (and I was), but finally watching the original, unaltered versions of the trilogy over three nights last week was the most fun I'd had watching "Star Wars" in years.

So it was worth it. I realized if it makes me happy and I enjoyed what I bought, then it's worth the money. What else can I do? Life's too short. :yay:

It's wrong. It's a common thing to happen. I get why people complain about it. But I don't get why you people find the need to defend it.

Am I the only one that is having a hard time keeping up with all these damn releases and regions? What is coming to the United States??

^(sighs) i dont know one minute they say it'll be a plain dvd not much deleted scenes and a making of featurate,The next minute they say hey guess what there'll be an Extended DVD even after the director says nah there wont be one. Then we find out about 3 dvds of the movie one just plain another collecter's edition and the last a supposingly 6 disc set(but guess what it only turns out to be a 3 disc set), and just when we think we've figured it out we get told of some 2 disc special edition dvd that has Brett's crap on there that will come out later on after the orginal three releases of the movie. As well as a "special" Wal-mart disc too. Its all one big confusing piece of crap to me I'll see what we have on december 4th(random date) that should give em some time to make up their fricken minds.

We're getting a 1-disc (either with or without the Stan Lee comic book), and an eventual special edition that Brett Ratner likes so much better. Probably because they'll make even more money selling two versions of the movie.

Region 2 is getting the 2-disc, with more material than what we're getting. Naturally.

Walmart shoppers are getting a bonus disc with 50 minutes of additional material. Whether it's the material already included on the Region 2 version or the upcoming even more special edition, I have no idea.

Frankly, I have no idea what's on the US version anymore. I'm just going to wait for Amazon to drop it off, and be surprised. :oldrazz:

^We are getting a 2 disc collectors edition. I dont know what it has on it.

so we are gonna get a special edition afterall? why wasn't this ready for release?

well atleast Brett told us there will be one more dvd coming out.

So now in the future u cannot blame him that he lied to us that there won't be any more DVD coming out.

We are getting the single disc...artwork is of the entire team.
The collector's edition has the teaser poster on it...Wolverine's claws in front of the X.

$19.99 and $29.99

I'm not saying people should like it.

I'm just saying.

People are acting like Fox, and Fox alone, is solely responsible for the act of double dipping, and that they are some evil movie studio whereas no other studio (Sony is most commonly mentioned) ever makes a studio based on financial gain, and is all about the fans and the artistic integrity.

I'm not saying we have to like studio tactics, or accept them.

I'm just saying, understand that it's STUDIO tactics, and not specifically Fox tactics.
I understand what you're sayin its just that a lot of people feel that Fox are unnecesarily milking the 'X-Men cow'.Fans shouldn't be forced to wait one year to get the product that others are getting overseas.3 years ago we never had this nonsense. Everybody got the same dvd.

but no release date on when this Brett Ratner edition is coming out? I remember Sam Raimi saying a Spiderman 2 Special Extended Edition was coming out and never saw it...and if it gets released right before SM3, I mean...thats 2 years later, so what the hell?! When is the X3SE coming? XMEN 1.5 came out in Feb. of '03...Are we to wait another 3 years? DareDevil SE came out in Nov. '04...1 friggin year after MSJ announced the uncut version was on the way. This sucks:csad:

Worse case scenario is that you'll have to wait until around the time Wolverine gets in to theatres. Fox would probably want to have some sort of tie-in.But thats worse scenario cause Wolverine is 2 years away...so the best bet would be next summer or next winter.

The Spider-Man 2.5 dvd looks like it will happen. A while back Global Entertainment partners posted on their website that they had digitally remastered the dvd.Check it out: http://www.gepartners.com/credits.htm

Is it gonna be the same bonus disc as in R2 ?!

this is true...I probably will just to hold me off...When F4 DVD came out and Walmart offered the same thing, I bought it and put it in a case that holds two discs...kinda made my own special edition...but I do hate waiting for the special editions after the movie is released...but with other movies like BB..or V4V...they released a regular edition and special edition day and date....so, I know its a different studio and all...but they were on top of their ***** thats fersher.

On a side note all thes SE talk inspired to get up and throw in DD Director's Cut.

This was inevitable. I dont know about others but I mentioned I wasnt going to buy these versions of the dvd out today and I meant it. I await the good stuff next year.
