Int- BAT-CAVE
The new BATCAVE under Wayne Manor is lit by fluorescent lights, with spotlights on ten displays cases. The BAT-COMPUTER sits in a corner, covered from condensation and other waters by a hood. Next to the computer is the case holding the BATSUIT. Near the waterfall is the BAT-POD, as there is no current BATMOBILE. BRUCE WAYNE stands near the DISPLAY CASES, ALFRED enters.

ALFRED
Master Wayne.

CUT TO- Bruce looking at the contents of the DISPLAY cases. He walks past them. In one, the ORGINAL BATSUIT he wore during his first months as THE BATMAN. In the next, the MASK OF THE SCARECROW. In the third, an empty vial of the FEAR TOXIN ANTIDOTE. The fourth contains THE CALLING CARD OF THE JOKER. Wayne stops.

BRUCE
Alfred?

ALFRED
Miss Kyle called, she said she would be unable to make it to dinner tonight.

BRUCE
Just as well, since this Riddler figure. I haven't seen anyone so obsessed with Batman since....

BRUCE looks at the CALLING CARD.

BRUCE
Since him. I still hear his laugh in my dreams, Alfred. I still hear the echo of the things he said to me.

ALFRED
Then why, sir, do you place trophies from your adventures in such plain sight? Some would say you are honoring them.

BRUCE hesitates, walks to the next (fifth) DISPLAY CASE. Inside is the COIN that belonged to HARVEY DENT, as well as a "I BELIEVE IN HARVEY DENT" BUTTON.

BRUCE
No, I've made this little museum to remember... what I've faced.

CUT-TO: WAYNE facing the five still-empty DISPLAY CASES.

BRUCE
And what I still have to face. I worry I'm going to need more then ten cases...

I think that the Bat-Cave should come back in any third installment. My ideas can sort of be found in the "write your own scene" thing I replicated above.

What do you think? Should the Bat-cave and Wayne Manor come back rebuilt, or should he stay in the Bat-Bunker/Garage?

I did miss the dark shadows of the Bat Cave. Bruce Wayne sitting at his Computer Console half cemented in shadows and mystery. Bats Chirpping high above in the cave. The atmosphere of it all I missed.

Plus, now that Batman is in the situation he is in, after TDK, it just seems more fitting that he should be in a dark, secluded cave fighting crime than a well lit, bat-free, superbly polished Bunker.

Plus it would make Alfred delivering his breakfast to him so much easier in the 3rd film.

I think that by this point it's expected that the Batcave will return. It makes sense.

It'd make perfect sense to return to the manor and the cave in a (hypothetical, yet all but confirmed) third movie...

Yeah I think a more comic booky cave and manor will be in the third one. With the whole Grandfather clock thing.

I thought the cave was best represented in "B89"

Just a couple platforms with room for equipment...as long as they do that, and leave out the T-Rex and giant Penny, I'll be fine.

The grandfather clock, yes. Now that the manor is burnt down and is getting rebuilt they have no real reason to not do it. It's fantastic restart for everything.

Im pretty sure Nolan wouldnt go for that look anyways!

I agree that they shouldn't go overboard with the giant dinosaur, penny, etc. Which is why I made the "Trophy Room" just a few display cases, no different then what you might find at your local museum or at a particularly rich collector.

Do you think it will be rebuilt AND is finished when the we see Batman 3?

Definitely. I think it'll already be up and running well before the third film begins.

^I agree. The Moniter would be cool in a Cave,Escpescally nolans Version.

I hope so. I didn't really like the big apt. I understand why Nolan did it, but I hope he has the Manor and Batcave back in the third.

Most likely be rebuilt come BB3 since by then Bale will look quite older than from BB and to keep it realistic some time has to pass between TDK and BB3 since Batman is on the run.

Yeah, since the mob has all but been incarcerated and Batman's a fugitive, i say that he'll probably have cut back on his time as Batman, until things kinda die down some. A good premise for Batman 3, would be that since the crime bosses have been put away, Gotham no longer feels they need Batman...until a new threat arises.

I think a good year or two should pass between TDK and B3. It was about a year between BB and the TDK. So, the mansion should be up and running again.....

I figured in TDK that Wayne Manor was about halfway done, so I would really love to see a finished Manor/redesigned Batcave in the third film. Surely enough time will have passed if they were able to have the makeshift Batcave up and running from the end of BB to the beginning of TDK, so the old Batcave should be able to be redesigned. More importantly though, I want the Shakespeare Bust and Bat-poles back...ya'll know ya'll want that too.

Just say no to giant pennies and dinosaurs, it doesn't fit in the Nolanverse...and yes, Batpoles do fit in the Nolanverse.

Close, but your missing what is really going on here. Everything that goes haywire is as a direct result of Bruces actions, not going to go in to all of that here. Bruce interfered with Wayne Enterprises to setup the sonar machine, as a result almost got Lucious/Wayne Enterprises in trouble. Bruce also stripped Lucious of plausible deniabilty by getting him involved in using the machine...this crossed the line since Lucious told him he did not want to know what he was doing and didn't want to lie if asked. This all helps setup silent/watchful protector/gaurdian and most likely leads to him having the computers in the batcave. This also reinforces the "being alone" mentioned. It also helps setup Bruces technical ability which he will need for the computers and what not. Oh, yeah, and you were on the right path but barked up the wrong tree. He was going to resign becasue this is the actual part, not the feigned part where Bruce became the criminal, but faith was rewarded. I'm guesing, you replace Lucious with Gotham, and Bruce with Batman, and that is what needs to happen to be back in good graces...reward faith.

We all know that Nolan isn't adverse to altering fundamental elements of the batman comic book Mythos. Batman's lair in The Dark Knight's is a polar opposite of the traditional batcave - with bright lights and a minimalistic look. When we innevitably go back to the true batcave in the third film, what do you want it to look like?

I personally want to see elements of the minimalistic dockyard hideout incorporated into the cave, with a juxtaposition between the naturalistic rock walls and the artificial elements like concrete, lighting and supercomputers.

Speaking of supercomputers, which features are for you essential to a proper batcave?

Do you want to see a working laboratory, a supercomputer, nods to previous films (like a semi-reconstructed tumbler and a Batman Begins suit in a cabinet somewhere), a dinosaur?? :woot:

I'd quite like to see a creative method of drainage - there could be gulleys incorporated into a concreted floor with continuous flows of water - after all, concreting up an old underground lake would have complications with regards to water...

Thoughts/comic images/concept art?

half cave, half building

I like the BB cave, actually. Put in a big computer screen though, that's essential. A new Batmobile being worked on in the corner. The BB suit in a case, also. Not sure about the dinosaur or giant coin, though.

No dinosaur, no giant coin, no villain memorabilia
