The production team probably just liked the actor.
Metal can be used for beheading because it's the separation of the vampire's head that makes the difference there. The material used to behead the vampire is irrelevant. For the heart, I guess the rule is that there has to be contact with wood.
I thought about that though and prepared a retort. LOL
If that was true, why was it possible for Willow to stake that vampire with sharpened graphite pencil, when correct me if I'm wrong, but graphite is a metal.
And why is despite the fact that according to Buffy lore magic doesn't work on vampires, there was the spell that gave Angel a soul, the spell that revokes an invite and the spell Willow tried(and failed) to cast, which created a ball of sunlight with , which Buffy could of killed vampires!

P.S I might as well ask you now, where should a thread about stop motion animation go?
