Even though I love Faith, I wish Kendra didnt get killed off that quickly. Have her survive until like the first three episodes of S3, kill her off, bring in Faith.
Nah it was best she died in the season 2 finale. Made it much more dramatic than had she died in the first few weeks of the next.

Since Faith needed the death of Buffy or Kendra to become a Slayer, that would've been impossible.

i didn't say it was possible, i said i would have liked to see all three of them interacting.

:o
Come on this is a show based on magic and the supernatural. They could have had all 3 slayers together for one episode. Its not like we never saw any dead people pop up before.

All more than two slayers.

In fact Kendra could have shown up as the first

loved the earlier seasons, but season five had Buffy grappling with the loss of her mom, riley...the season finale was definitely a tear jerker!

Season 5 was arguably the best season for me, at least next to season 3

everything about season 5 just worked--losing her mom and being forced to grow up, care for dawn, and Glory was one of my favorite villains. Loved the god aspect.

yeah, there's only one "calling" and when buffy died at the end of the first season, Kendra became the slayer. But buffy was brought back to life, so there ended up being 2.

Kendra died, calling Faith, and Faith would be the current "true" slayer.

Buffy's death by glory could not signal another slayer, because she had alreadly summoned Kendra.
This all seems very straightforward, I'm surprised it's rasing questions...

Season 5 was arguably the best season for me, at least next to season 3
except for the finale, and buffy being told glory is a god and willow spending an ep in buffy's head, I can't think of any eps that stand out for me in this season.

It may be a well gelled season but i always feel there are so many gem stand alone eps in season 4

Yeah, Season 5 was best. Though its awesome finale was cheapened a bit by the sheer fact that the show went on for two more seasons.

You didn't like The Body?

have only read 1st page of the thread so far, bit late here in uk, but will have to have a proper read later on sometime..

for me...

1. s5 - i really got into the plot arc of this one, loved that the baddie was another superpowered female who actually scared Buffy; Spike has great starring eps in this one and I love watching him gradually fall for Buffy and jon the scoobies; Dawn was surprisingly good and fit in, loved where her story went(bit like Halo's in Batman and the Outsiders I thought later on).
It was just very good quality throughout for me, it peaked here.

2. s3 - As someone said, the Mayor was the best villan the show had, very funny, and I liked how they showed his caring side when it came to Faith. Faith, like many i fancied her like mad and thought she was a breath of fresh air, they took her down the dark path at just the right gradient for it to be believable. Like s5 it had a great epic finale.

3. s2 - Became a big buffy fan with this one, it set the standard for what these kind of shows should be like. First time I ever felt like I was getting a regular superhero comic delivered straight to my tv, having a brilliant sh live action show with a continuing story arc was something I'd never experienced before this series, amazing.

4. s4 - I think this one gets too much of a slagging, I like it a lot, the Uni campus is a nice change, the initiative was a good idea, Riley really should have been a lot more interesting though given that he was the lead's bf and a superhero himself. Brilliant Spike stuff, Hush, Jonathan ep. It was a shame 'Maggie Walsh' left as she was set to be the big bad, but Adam was pretty funny and gave Buffy a good fight/fright. Love the weird dreams ep that finished this one off too.

5. s7 - Someone on the thread said this one started off well but nosedived whe the potentials were introduced, I have to agree, too much time spent on underdeveloped characters and not enough on the stalwarts like Xander who got nothing out of this one except an eyepatch. I have a problem with the uber-vamps falling so easily in the final battle when it took Buffy all of her might to bring one down earlier. But, it has some great eps, a good follow up to Spike's origin ep from s5 and Faith is back(although she was even better over on angel s4).

6. s6 - some real stinkers in this series, my worst ep of all time is 'Doublemeat palace', 'Gone' is pretty rank too for an invisibility ep. But, it has some good things going on in it, i love the 2part opener, the trio are not too bad and have their moments(the ep where they make Buffy think she killed that girl is a great one). Some good Spike too, and at least they tried ahving a depressing 'real world' series here. Problem was, for s7 too, that JW went off to make FF and did not scriptsupervise/re-write on every ep. I think he should've waited til Buffy was done before embarking on his new endeavour, it would've benefitted both of them.
s6 has the best cliffhanger for me by far, could not wait for s7 to see how that turned out.

7. s1 - Good pilot that laid everything out, easy to understand, followed by hit and miss eps. Hit - the pack; angel; final ep. Miss - that one with the robot thing. I was wondering what the big deal about it was at points, it being touted as the next big thing from the states, it took s2 for me to see why.

What, cha nevah huhd a Ja-MAY-cahn befahr?

Well, I have, and they sure as hell don't sound like Kendra. :o Outside of the accent, though, she wasn't terrible. Just a bit generic.

She was actually supposed to be from a certain part of Jamaica that has a different accent/dialect than the rest of the country (watch "What's My Line Part 1 and 2" with the episode commentary). Kind of like how you Americans think us Canadians all pronounce out "oot", and about "aboot", and house "hoose". I'm 35 years old and have lived in Canada all my life, and I have never said, nor ever heard anyone say "I'm aboot ready to go oot of the hoose". There is one small section of the country, just over the Canadian/U.S. Border, that does in fact talk like that. The rest of the country talks normally. Same thing with Kendra, only in reverse. She was using a Jamaican accent you're not used to so you jump to the conclusion that she doesn't know how to do a proper Jamaican accent.

For me, Season 6 was great--snappy dialogue, grittier "real-world" feel to it (dealing with paying rent, getting a job, and the alienation Buffy faced following being pulled out of heaven, etc.). I think it also lost a lot of its monster cheese from the first season--don't get me wrong, season 1 was groundbreaking, but it has its camp value.

Season 2 I agree was also great, the series started to find its footing, and the Angel/Buffy relationship was just stellar at this point. High School drama at its best.

Season 5 was a stand-alone season. Finally, a villain (and a female one for that matter) that really had the "oh ****" factor. Buffy finally realizes that she may actually be screwed, going up against a demi-god or whatever, and seeing her on the run really cranked up the stakes. I liked Spike and Dru from the earlier seasons, but I never really felt they were any threat to Buffy as a hero. The Mayor was more dangerous, but even then, Buffy had a plan. With Glory, the only thing left to do was run. Also, episodes like The Body just bring the season to an emotional climax...too many good things here.

Was not a fan of season 7. To me, it was almost like the 24/Jack Bauer syndrome: when you've saved the world 6 or 7 seasons running, you'd think ppl in the know would realize that they can trust you. The Potentials and the Scoobies turning their back on Buffy really slayed me (pun intended)--Spike had it right on the money when he chewed them all out for their betrayal. I think the season's concept had potential so to speak but I'm not a fan of how it played out. I know Willow rehabbing from magic would ultimately prevent her from using it against the baddies, but I felt like that whole story line from Season 6 was cut short, wrapped up and tossed aside. I hated the fact that Willow was back to being left useless without the magic--I just felt that, while they made sense, the reasons they gave for her not being able to use magic were not enough. I wanted to see them explore her potential a lot more, before the last ep--see what she can do in battle against some uber vamps.

What part of Jamaica is this supposed to be?

what happened to all the comic threads,

have the buffy and angel comics come to an end or have they been moved somewhere out of reach?

They should still be in the Misc. Comics section. No one's really commented on the comics in them for a while, though, so they're probably on page 50 by now. I know I wasn't really in the mood to talk about Angel for, oh, the majority of After the Fall's second half. :o

I don't remember if they mentioned it in the commentary. They did however say that it was in fact an actual Jamaican accent. Honestly, I'm not even sure where in Canada they say "aboot" instead of "about".

Just curious, since I've been to Jamaica a couple times and I don't recall ever hearing an accent like that. Granted, I didn't go to every little nook and cranny of the place.

:( last night they played 2 andy episodes on TNT... The one where the demon attacks his club, and the one where cordelia gets transported to his home world.... :(

One of my favorite seasons. One of my favorite moments was the reveal of what kind of "demon" Glory was. Definitely a jaw dropper.

yeah, some Canadians talk weird, EH?

I just watched "Not Fade Away" again. I've probably seen it 5-10 times. I love it every time I watch it. For some reason, it's definitely my favorite Buffy/Angel episode.
