Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Vampire

Season four as a whole was a very cool concept (unlike season six) that bad writing and acting (mostly from Blucas and Benson, though the latter admittedly improved in later seasons) really dragged down.

I mean, hell, Adam, IMO was one of the coolest character concepts in the show's run. The problem was, he was REALLY underused and undeveloped though. He killed Walsh, then just didn't show up again until the penultimate episode (save little scenes where he really did nothing at all). Just such terrible execution, throughout the season, really.

The weird thing about season four, for me at least, was that the season itself as a whole was kind of poor, I really loved alot of the episodes on their own. I loved The Harsh Light of Day. I loved Pangs. I loved Something Blue. I loved Hush, A New Man, the Faith two-parter, Superstar and Restless. But as a season-long arc, it just didn't work out well IMO.

And I didn't think Blucas or Benson were that bad...

I enjoyed watching the characters began to kinda split and become alinated from eachother since i felt that way after high school myslef. Spike coming in helped but i hated Reiley.

I just kinda miss the whole meeting at the library thing I got used to for 3 seasons. It's taken some time but i have acclimated to the new setting. Beer Bad has to be the lowest point this show has reached for me yet. There cannot be anything worse than that. Just finished Doomed and thatw as ****ing awesome. I like the addition of Anya.

Adam was horrible and the worst thing about season. By far the worst big bad in the entire series. I do think season 4 had interesting concepts as I loved Buffy in college and the whole premise behind the Iniative. I cant say anything good about Adam though bc he was an uninteresting mess

I loved Blucas. Best new addition of the season and I loved him with Buffy. Its too bad he didnt stay with the show for long

Speaking of this season, did anyone else think that [blackout] Eliza Dushku did a much better job at playing Buffy than Gellar did at playing Faith? I cringed at watching Gellar tring to be Faith as it came across forced and she played it too overthe top. Dushku on the other hand was more subtle and believable as Buffy during the episode when they switched[/blackout]

Yeah, I'd agree with that. Gellar seemed more like she was just playing an evil Buffy rather than another character all together.

I think season 4 suffered from Joss divided attention between the two shows. Also I agree with the senses that Adam wasn't an interesting villian, but could have been if more developed. Maggie Walsh was more interesting and they killed her off. Another hit I think was Seth Green's decision to leave the show. the Oz-Willow-Veruca storyline was suppose to play out longer then it did. I think the main problem was trying to transition from high school to college, which just didn't work, which is why UC Sunnydale just kinda of dissapeared after the season. I don't think they even mentioned them going to college anymore.

I honestly dont think Joss ever paid all that much attention to Angel... until season five that is, when his other two shows were over.

Buffy was still going to college in season 5. She quit towards the end shortly after Joy died to take care of Dawn

I wonder why prosthetics aren't used more often when on just this TV Show it looks great.

I admit season 4 was very poorly done but I always liked it but season 6 has always been my favorite for some reason, maybe behind 2 and 3. 6 To me was great because it broke the mold plus I loved The Trio(never understood all the nerd hate) and of course veiny Willow. I think season 6 has some of the greatest character arcs and development in the entire show really

Season 5 is one of the best seasons and depending on my mood, it's my favorite. Its a pretty solid season from beginning to end with an interesting story arc and one of the most memorable big bads. No one is as charismatic as Glory. She rocked

The Nerd trio werent so bad but I HATED Jonathan. One of the worst characters in the entire Buffyverse. I hated how he was given such a major role this season. I liked Warren and Andrew but Jonathan brought them all down. I really wish he had died at the end

I liked the season but could not stand Buffy most of the time. She became such a b-tch and I hated how abusive she became towards Spike. They really had her get ugly. The season was so depressive from that to Xander dumping Anya at the alter, she becoming a demon again and of course Willow going evil. It served its purpose and wasnt terrible but it is one of my least favorites. Bottom 3 material, probably only ranking above season 1.

Loved season 4. It was my first full season watching after I became a regular viewer.

the Nerd trio were hilarious. they were definately a strange group of villains. i do agree though, that Jonathan should have bit the dust. he was my least favorite of the three and it sucks how he got a bigger role towards the end of the show. i wish it had been Andrew instead.

i actually think that the trio were one of the better parts of season 6, right there with with willows story arc. they were an interesting change from the usual type of big bad. i mean look at it this way, she had fought vampires, demons, and a friggen hell god. i thought it was good to show that not all of the evil in the world is supernatural in nature. I also liked what implied, that the kids you picked on in high school might be seriously messed up in adulthood. although if i remember correctly, that wasn't really touched on as much as it should have.

I liked season 6 better the second time around but hated the what they did with xander and anya and thought it could have been better handled. The Willow stuff was good.

Haven't watched Season 6 for a bit. But from what I remember it wasn't very good other than Once More, With Feeling and the Willow stuff at the end.

Everytime I watch s4 I like it better. While the underlying villan storyline wasnt the best, everything above it were enjoyable. And I love the first half of S6 up until OMWF ends where it just gets overly dark and sexual but it picks up with the Willow arc. I was dissapointed about the development of Dawn though.

yeah dawn and conner in angel got really annoying. It felt like each seved there purpose and then they lost track of where to go with them., However i liked Conner 10 times better in season 5 of angel.

Benson I just think took some time to find chemistry with the rest of the cast. By season 5 the character had come into her own and wasn't that bad.

I think the problem with Adam was execution. The concept of a government made demon/man hybrid was a good one, IMO. But he was never developed or used properly.

Season 4 was a transition season, that is for sure. It was almost like another season 1. When Angel and the others left, the characters now in college, the show had to redefine itself. I agree, it could have been better, but I am more forgiving of some of these faults for this reason. It has some great episodes, but also has eps like Beer Bad

I hate how Adam is defeated. HATE IT!!!

I just got the season 8 motion comic today, though. I am psyched since I have not read it

I am saving it for me and my bro, though. Buffy was kind of like, our thing in the summer, and with him coming back in just over a week, I can wait to resume the tradition

Wesley had the best character development out of any character in the entire Buffyverse. He truly did change ant it felt natural and progression based on the stuff he had exerperienced. For anyone that found him annoying and/or whiny in Buffy, will see a changed man by the end of Angel. His transformation in season 3 and 4 was by far one of my favorite storylines. I loved him with Lilah and loved how she helped bring about hsi darker side

I love Wesley, and I agree, he is the most developed character of the Buffyverse.

I hated how he died in Season 5. It is my 2nd fave Angel season, but his death sucked. He got punked way too easy, and Wesley at this point in the show earned a stronger fight than he gave. I liked his last words and all, but the way he got beat by the demon was stupid.

I may be in the minority, but I LOVED season six. I completely disagree on the concept being bad. I love the concept. After the GRAND adventure and awesomeness that was Season Five, and the end of ends, to show did a smart thing by going smaller and more human. You can't go straight from Glory to The First. They had to bridge, and I love the idea. Buffy's world of magic and rules, but the man who does the most damage to the group is simply a human...with a gun. THAT is awesome. Plus, how can you not love Buffy's arc? She was in paradise! Finally at peace, but her selfish friends brought her back cause THEY needed her. To fit THEIR needs. Not only that, but she has this mundane, boring existance to get back to. Not even her normal evil to take her mind of being expelled from total peace! This season was utterly depressing, but I loved it! It was dark, yet ended with such hope. When all the characters are at the darkest point of their lives, all of them are able to find the light in their own way, despite being utterly brutalized by life leading up to the finale!

It's an underrated season.
