Daredevil Bullseye casting and discussion thread

Eh, if I were in charge, I'd tone Bullseye's skills down somewhat ( no killing people with thrown toothpicks or paper airplanes ), but I'd still have him clearly be in the same super-skilled category as people like Matt. Incredibly precision, improbable weapons, ricochet shots, etc. Matt's a better brawler, while Bullseye has more experience with ranged attacks. Also, I'd have Bullseye make actual use of weapons, not just improvised thrown crap.

As for theme and direction? Well, we've had moral challenges to Matt's ethics, and we've had a couple different criminal enterprises try to take over the city. For Bullseye, I'd use him as the Joker: he's an insane, murderous criminal, who is basically a super-skilled serial killer. Pull out all the tropes: the signature kills, the taunting messages sent to police and media, the tracing of clues, the growing fear in the city. Only if someone catches up to him, the result is a kung fu thrown weapon duel.

I always liked the idea of Bullseye mirroring DD, becoming obsessed with him. Unfortunately they kind of talked about that this season, how Punisher was a response to Daredevil, even though he wasn't. Frank would have gone on that spree regardless, but it's an idea they addressed. So I'm not sure they're as likely to revisit it even if for Bullseye it would be true.

I agree it'll echo that theme. Bullseye is a bit more direct, though. He'll see Daredevil as a direct challenge (while Punisher found him to be an obstacle).

Was watching Jedi Council and they mentioned who was gonna be a guest next week and I would like to throw Sam Witwer's name into the mix. Anyone that saw the SYFY channel version of BEING HUMAN know that he is versatile with a great physicality. He can pull off dark humor and menace quite well. He's a good age now to for heavy type parts and I could see him playing off Charlie Cox well.

He could be a great Bullseye. Haven't seen him act much but he's a great voice actor and seems charming enough, but could pull off the crazy as well.

Aidan (Sam Witwer, a vampire) in desperation feeds off the blood of his friend Josh (a werewolf):[YT]W_KcMc8gL58[/YT]

Aidan (whose day job is a nurse) talks to a kid with an immunity deficiency about the kid's wish to be turned into a vampire.:[YT]t4dLE0dDkQQ[/YT]

Aidan stops another vamp from feeding on a patient at the hospital where he works at in Boston:[YT]rFhysUvyNDQ[/YT]

I couldn't find any clips that focused on when Witwer as Aidan was menacing and sometimes truly sadistic and evil, but believe me, he can do that very well, along with more light hearted, humorous stuff.

Tossing another Being Human alumni into the mix, but also an actor known for LOST and SUPERNATURAL and DEXTER... The always great Mark Pellegrino. From his roles in the past we damn for sure know he can do dark but he can also do black comedy and gallows humor as well as off the wall improv. I think the age would be an issue seeing as he is 50 and we all would want some pretty hard hitting action from DD vs Bullseye fights and I don't know if Mark would want to get into the shape it requires for the action that DD has. Still... A solid choice in my eyes.

He's certainly given us some great performances in genre work.

Apart from wanting Ryan Eggold to play Bullseye I wouldn't mind seeing Andrew Scott play Bullseye

I hope that/trust them to choose a relatively unknown actor for Bullseye. I had no idea who Matt Cox was before Daredevil. but it worked well. give it to whoever screen tests best.

Unknown is a relative thing though. Plus, the cast of last season and the second season had quite a few actors and actresses with pedigrees that all worked out quite well I would say. Look at Berthal or Curtis Hall or Vincent as Wilson. Heck Scott Glenn has been kicking around for decades in film and TV. I get the reasoning for wanting unkowns but with a lot of super hero properties they like to surround the less well known protagonist with some veteran talent.

You could really go a number of different ways with Bullseye.

He's a bit too old now with 10 years on Cox (and i'd prefer them to be closer in age just like I prefer my Batman and Joker) But Walter Goggins as someone mentioned would make a great Bullseye.

How do you think they'd pull off the Bullseye costume?

Id just start him off in the normal looking jacket or tactical gear, and then just go full on classic Bullseye costume (or the netflix twist of it) and just write in the story that he wears it in a sick and twisted reflection of Matt's costume. That would work rationally of why he wears the classic suit.

I think that rationale will be a big part of it. I would actually start with it. I do think part of it is how you introduce it rather than what you introduce. I suggested start by making him a silent killer where you only focus on his hands (I like the white gloved hands as the deadliest hands around). Then you can keep him in the shadows but have the bullseye on his head visible. Basically, little things to build anticipation rather than just have him come out in the open.

As for the look, I think it can translate well. Make it black instead of blue, get rid of the white around the neck. White boots are optional, I'd be OK with getting rid of those two. Basically, a very stealth look (Archer with the tactical turtleneck would be a good example) with the white gloves and white bullseye standing out.

I could see him being one of those extraordinary types running around the MCU world that maybe Matt thwarts in his DD ID who escapes immediately after and he just up and offers his services to Kingpin purely out of spite and then creates the Bullseye costume to taunt DD as this opposite number persona.

What if they gave him tactical gear and a ski mask with the target logo on it?

If he hasn't been mentioned yet, I'd like to throw Chris Coy's (Treme, Walking Dead, Banshee) name in the hat.

I think Nikolaj Coster-Waldau would be an amazing Bullseye. I could easily see him portray Bullseye as a psychopath with an abundance of charisma and flair. He might be too old though at 45.
