Buying an LCD need help....

Im looking to buy a LCD. What are the best brands? How would you rank the following Brands:
Question Details:

Samsung
Vizio
Sony
Panasonic
Sharp
LG
Toshiba

Also is 1080p essential if it's under 50''? What are some other factors that should go into buying an LCD? I would like to spend under $1500. I'd also like to get something in the 40''-47'' range...any suggestions?

I'd go with either Vizio or LG myself. I own a 37" Vizio, and I love it.

My friend got a 40 or 50" Panasonic and it looks pretty good

Sony always tend to be overpriced; I'd stay away from them. They're certainly a quality make, but you can add on a couple of ton onto the price compared to another make with the same specs.

I have a Vizio, and its pretty good...but I dont have too much experience in the LCD TVs

I also have a Vizio. Fairly inexpensive, and I've absolutely no complaints about the quality.
