Bad dialogue can ruin and movie for me.

I've seen movies with iffy dialogue that were great but I've never seen a great movie with outright bad dialogue.

Watched it about a Million times now! Once the HD versin is released it's getting a million more, as well getting spammed to every person i know!

I got 15 tickets already booked!

I got another friend at work who knows nothing about films but she saw the teaser and her and all her friends have book their tickets!

Believe when this will appeal to everyone, it has something for everyone!

Peace!

Why was every line in the trailer cliched?

I'm going to wait to the real thing comes out to pass full judgement but I wasn't feeling that trailer. And I was one of the people who liked the first one.

Dude, it's an epic action film; they're full of great, cheesy lines. Also, trailers are heavily edited and might not use the take that makes it into the film.

To you, but not to general public.
I'm talking in relation to spoilers, there's nothing spoliery in there. The average Joe won't see this and have anything ruined. I wasnt dissing the film.

there nothing to spoil....dude gets body with legs, falls in love with alien princess, realizes that there is more to life than the human agenda...leads revolts against the evil military industrial complex....

I miss anything??

In a trailer, some dialogue that may sound hokey becase it's out of the context of the scene. Once you see it in the context of the film it's alot better. Also, they edit and adjust the dialogue to make it stand out more int he trailer. It happens quite often.

I agree with Anita about Cameron's dialogue. It gets the job done but it's nothing amazing. Though in Titanic, some of the lines made me want to puke or rather the deliveries of them did. Watching Aliens there was one or two (Newt, "They're dead. Alright? Can I go now?") T2, there's some, mainly because of Furlong. Or maybe it's just the deliveries; I'm trying to think of some alternative ones to there's.

Cameron is a much better storyteller and can masterfully wrap around the themes with the characters and their stories. The dialogue... well...

I've seen Terminator, Abyss, and True Lies and parts of Aliens and Terminator 2. And his dialogue isn't anything to write home about. It gets the job done, but it doesn't move me.

It's definitely not the worst thing one could say about a film - if someone's main complaint about a movie is dialogue, then it's actually a good sign as to the overall quality. Bad movies have MUCH more to complain about that just bad dialogue. :funny:

Cameron's a good storyteller. You know what's happening in his movies, you know why they're happening, you know what his characters' motivations are, and the sequences are emotionally compelling. Dialogue is pretty low on the list when it comes to actual storytelling, just as continuity is low on the list when it comes to editing.

So why haven't you seen the rest of them? Those two are his best films thus far.

Oh, and my mom saw the three minute trailer with Saw IV on Friday. I didn't think they were going to show it with that.

With movies like these, it's a little more difficult to judge the story and writing until you see it. They will purposely insert the most generic dialog into the trailer. If you look at Star Trek, it's not terribly unique on paper. Yet, it ends up being arguably the best movie of the year so far, and has 95% on RT. It's all about the execution. Papa Jim knows how to execute.

well Star Trek has an established fanbase of 40+ years to help it out....I have no love for RT though

What does that have to do with the film's quality?

So does Dragonball and look at the adaption...

As for RT, the film was a critical success, there's no denying that. If you don't like the website, use Metacritic.

I agree with Bunk and Doctor Jones. Cameron is definitely not the greatest writer of dialogue, but he's created some truly original and memorable characters that you'll care for throughout the film. Seriously, who didn't cry at the end of Terminator 2 or scream when Hudson was killed in Aliens?:o

Though, it's not like Cameron hasn't written any memorable lines.

Game over, Man, game over!:awesome:

As Dark Victory pointed out, this has nothing to do with the quality of the film. I'm saying the story themes are not at all unique. If the film is well executed, this is not a problem, far from it actually. District 9 is another example of this.

Yeah, I thought about that too. The man makes up for the dialogue with the awesome one liners. Aliens is a perfect example. It's kind of jarring because it seems like someone else is writing them.

"Shag it!"

Apone is the man. The death of Arnie at the end of T2 got to me when I was younger. The thumbs up made it even better and more sad. I even cared about Gorman in Aliens. Cameron has created some of the most memorable characters and especially female characters. He made Ripley a badass and Sarah Connor a scary badass.

dark b wanted me to post these, heres some super high res photos of new ones that was released

i need to go. i am seconds away of watching this cam version.

nooooooooooooooo

I just watched the trailer again. This film looks so good! Even on the blurry bootleg trailer the film still looks so epic in it's scope. I need to see this trailer in HD. Come on Fox, release it early!

I saw them when I had cable and thus had movie channels. :funny: Just didn't catch T2 or Aliens from the very beginning. Haven't bothered to rent them to see them all the way through. :o

He really has. Even though the guy's a dick, I have to admire his commitment to production values and most of all, his focus on badass heroines who actually get stuff done.

You need to see them! You'll hit yourself asking why you never bothered to see them sooner.

I wouldn't call the guy a dick. He sometimes may be full of himself. Like the Oscar thing. But he acts like a jerk because he wants the best film possible. If you see him on the special features for Aliens, he's quite demanding in general. But it all works out in the end. My mom doesn't like the guy but admits he's a great director.

But yes, Ripley is probably my favorite female movie character ever. I love how she actually addresses the stupididty of the Yutami board members.

"Did IQ's just suddenly drop when I was away?"

And Sarah Connor loading that shotgun at the end of the film was badass. Not to mention her one handed pull ups.
